Been trying for 6 hours now to log in @.@; damn that log in screen, lol why oh why did I decided to reconnect because my stockings wern't showing up *hits self.* if only i'd known.

Hey Papillon, i noticed you were on my land with sakura this afternoon looking at the custom the ANTI-MATTER AIRHEADS are building for me. What do you think of it??? Looks good huh?

Everyone if you still wanna play after this and want a custom building just drop Sakura Raven an IM. She will whip up a model right in front of your eyes and when they start building hell i never seen it go so fast. That FOXY Reyo Neutra builds with lightning speed, truly unbelievable.

SO FOR CUSTOM BUILDING GET THE ANTI-MATTER AIRHEADS YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED
Anything goes for them if they cant engineer it noone can :P

all you have to do is click connect then standup hop on one foot and pat your head..
easy..

OK that made me laugh!!

Seriously people, LL told you the problem - you know it exists because of their communication.

STOP trying to log on ... step away from the computer .... face real life for a bit and come back later.

Bitching and complaining isn't going get it fixed any faster now is it ? - whether it takes an hour or a week to fix, I'm sure they are working on it (good business practice would suggest it's a given).

I understand the tier expense but do some math - work out how much time you spend online, work out how long you haven't been able to log in for ..... now if you come up way out of pocket ... to be blunt, you shouldn't be online in the first place.

Do something good - ring a family member or something and "talk" instead of "type".

Have a good one .. I'm going fishing

... I just tried to convince her to call customer service, and at least talk to somebody...

So she can be told that it's a problem on her end... probably her Fire Wall?

That's the standard answer now days... even to those of us that do not use a Fire Wall.

Thursday morning I saw that my Partner was shown as "online'... yet... i was speaking to her via cell at her work place. She called Support to ask them to kick her off the grid (in case this presented probs for when she was really ttying to login at a later time) and was told that it was her Fire Wall (again). Considering that she'd logged hours before dat answer sounded a little "buggy".

SL has had continuing serious "issues" since the New Year's Eve Fiasco... from logins to Lee Linden's non definable lag.

It use to be a enjoyable place... now it's such a "joy" to wait "awhile" to get in and then have waves of walk stopping lag crash over ya... "if" your sim is even up.

(One sim I have land in was down for 10 hrs last week... it came back up at 08:15 PST... just as I was calling Support. Glad I didn't have to call as I wasn't looking forward to hearing that the prob was in my Fire Wall... LOL!)

"Oh well... so it goes."

Curious

Curious, when something works fine and then all of a sudden breaks without an update or anything visable to the end user what the heck happened:

1. Someone (employee = someone) added a new feature and it broke the login feature? (There were no updates how could this be?)
2. Someone is on vacation and the other employees dont have a clue how to fix it (CALL THEM, page them, track their butts down!)
3. Some one spilled McDonalds Orange Drink on something and electrical sparks shoot out of it and now no one can transport (you never know!)

Whatever you may have done (behind the scenes) to cause this do you make notes so it can be un done?

Thanks!!!

This Is Ridiculous!
05-14-2005 17:45
Events and Event Hosts are getting totally sick of all this lagging, logging problems, and such. Its pretty bad to have sl crashing just before an event you are hosting, and then not even be able to get back in to host the damn thing! When are you going to address the real problems with SL instead of adding stupid things to the updates!

If you realy want a chance to talk to a linden outside of these forums and secondlife dig out an irc client and log on to efnet and go to channel #secondlife

theres almost always a few lindens on there chatting or sitting idle. so even if they arnt saying anything they have the irc up on their computers and you may have a chance to get their attention. I have seen Phillip on more then one occation.

Second Life Issues
05-14-2005 17:50
Hey boys and girls.

Come on people calm down.

These problems were going to happen at some point anyway so cant you just calm down and wade it out.

Yes some of you might have businesses in Second Life and you might lose the odd L$ but surely if you waited for Linden Labs to finish doing what they are doing then more people would play Second Life and more customers for you, do you get what i am saying?

The reason everyone is so worked up about not being able to login is because your all adicted to it so a few days away from the computer will do you good.

Whats the point in shouting and screaming and stomping your feet like teenagers saying you are going to leave when Linden Labs are trying their very best to sort this out and make it better for everyone. Just try to think how the programmers and technical support people at Linden Labs are feeling. The more you say "waaah waah waaah im leaving" the more stress its putting on Linden Labs and the more stress they have the longer it will take them to finish.

So come on peeps..calm down and relax.

Yes, everyone is probibly going to start shouting at me and complaining because im just trying to calm the situation down but frankly i dont care. Im just trying to calm everyone down and prevent world war 3 or should i say a Second Life World War 1 from happening.

Thanks for listening, Dave

All very true Dave, but let's face it, this is supposed to be a professional, commercial software product, which we are all, or have all, paid real life money for, not Linden$.
I can't think of any other industry where consumers are not expected to complain if a product they have bought is defective. Can you?

Yes it is a professional organisation but ALL organisations have to have some downtime to upgrade systems, repair systems and sometimes even replace systems.

So people please, give them a break...you should actually be happy with what you have..its better than NOTHING!

Although I agree with you Dave, I find it interesting that....

There are over 140 posts to this thread and only ONE single response from a Linden (by Robin at the very start of it).. why?? And you think people should calm down when you yourself were one of the first people to post to this thread on page 3? LMFAO

*sigh* the wait continues.

This could have been prevented
05-14-2005 18:05
One of the most disturbing things about this login problem is they should have seen it coming. I noticed a gradual degradation in performance beginning on Thursday.

On Thursday evening you could notice that searches were taking longer than usual as was viewing your inventory. By Friday evening searches had slowed down to the point where a search that would normally take a matter of seconds was taking minutes. Rezzing was taking a lot longer that normal. There was lag in sims that were not that busy. Login attempts were also failing on Friday evening. I had to try several times in order to log in. But it was nothing as bad as today. Today it took three hours to log in and I hung up in a teleport and have been trying for three hours since then.

And they did make changes in the software earlier this week. Has anyone noticed that the system no longer times you out if you're afk for extended periods of time? I noticed this earlier in the week when I forgot to log out one night and was still logged in the next morning. Maybe that has something to do with it. You can now run SL 24/7 and just minimize it when you're not using it.

I hope that this stirs up enough people that we can start putting pressure on the Lindens. I found it pretty unbelievable that there is no phone support during the busiest times here. When you try for live support you get a warning that maybe you'll get the right information or maybe you'll get the wrong information.
