for the past 2 or 3 weeks i been doing the "keep trying" over and over..it worked at first..took 5 or 6 times tho...then it got worse...until now..the program stops responding(how can you even try when it dont responds right when you hit connect?LOL) ...now it has been 3 days of not being bale to get in SL, tho i see some are able to while others cant...the answer is always the same- look i give this at the office a standard answer to quiet the customers and not make promises- but we dont take weeks to give them an answer we give it to them point blank what is wrong and what is going on, for they are "paying" customers- without them there would be no Company ...i understand the TOS and we agreed to it BUT when paying for a service they really are supposed to provide it.
SL should concern themselves of fixing the problem with getting the service to the customer..and worry about the other things- missing items,tp probs and etc etc later.... In fact just fix those in an update but dont provide that update until it is tested alone for a couple weeks and the bugs and kinks worked out...once ready then provide it to the public and your customers....am sure they will rather wait for it than not be able to use the service they are paying for....
SL is the 5th 3D place i have move onward to play in and enjoy....who knows if there will be a new one to replace it except for the login and update probs...rather stay with SL ..but....There are new 3D places out there and one day there will be one that will surpass SL....if this time comes and these probs are still here well there will be a lot less to make happy as they move to another playground to play in and pay...and SL will just be like Cybertown,Moove ,There and etc are now...
For an example---in 2002 Cybertown had same amount of customers that SL has right now(ALTS made it being over 100k or more ) they changed to a pay site-didnt fix, upgrade, or change nothing- today in year 2005 they are now down to just around 500 customers(counting ALTS).... that is a BIG drop...
Without your customers SL there would be no SL.......think and do something before you get in over your head on this.....Cybertown,Moove and a few others didnt...and they LOST a lot of customers -and future customers-because of this.

come on now....

You're going to say negativity towards people in the south now??? Fact is lots of people do pay lots of $ to play this game, and it does irritate them to be wasting money NOT being able to get in the game... doesn't matter if they are in the UK or California, or <gasp> the south. Myself, this is my first post to this forum but since I've been having continual problems for the last 1 1/2 weeks I thought I'd go look today just to see if there is something more I can do.... now I realize it's NOT my system.. I've done EVERYTHING I can to try to fix this myself ... it started with the 'lag' more like freezing up in the game every so often.. I emailed support who tried to tell me it was either my video card or my settings... which it's not.. I have an awesome card, and I've adjusted my settings down to where someone with a 64mg video card would have to have them... I've uninstalled and reinstalled SL several times, updated my video drivers, defragged, ran diagnostics, rebooted my modem and my system several times over.. and I was about to format my system and start clean... till I saw this thread. Now, all that being said, you can imagine the frustration that some of us are going through.... I understand the person made a negative comment about you and you felt the need to shoot something back at them.. but don't start bunching everyone from the south in your flame war with that person. From: Robin Raven Hmm... Is that like the south's "Bless Their Heart", where you can say anything about somebody as long as you throw that in there? "Bless their heart, that boy's about as sharp as a sack full of wet mice." "Bless their heart, she's uglier then her momma and that's sayin' somethin'." Anyway, your response indicates to me a high probability you've never worked in software. I have. For years. I sorta know what I'm talking about. Not too bright are ya? Bless your heart. -Robin Raven

This *might* help log in
05-14-2005 13:38
I'm no computer expert. In fact, I know next to nothing about them. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but last night as I was trying for hours to log in, I decided to minimize the screen while SL was 'waiting for a response'. A minute or two later, I maximized the screen and I was in! I tried this again just now and it worked..or seemed to. I'm in somehow and I've been having the same trouble you all have been having for days now. Maybe its just a fluke, but thought I'd let you all know so you can try it.

YEAHHH - in Europe and pissed ?????
05-14-2005 13:39
From: Robin Linden I'm sorry people are having problems logging-in. It's not your computer. There are some fixes in the works, but they won't be deployed until the next patch (1.6.5).
Until then, the best thing to do is keep trying, and wait until you're returned to the log-in screen to try again.
Our apologies -- we know this is a huge problem. YEAHHHH........ The best thing is to try and WAIT ? wait.... wait...... I now ait try and wait for 2 hours again, same this afternoon, same last night, same the day before...... When I order me a pizza and must tra ynad wait for days...., I would kick that pizza man's ass with both feet if he then also still wants MONEY from me for that.... All I can do and is try and wait ? WTF is that for a business, I pay monthly land tier to work and buidl on my land, USE this program, not to wait for days if I MAYBE can login ! Those times you can't use this should be refunded - losing money would maybe help fix thos problems faster ... Really upset, btw. I really feel pissed now for that I reside in Europe. naturally I NOT have the fastest ping to the SL swervewrs due to the long distance line. When I try login in my eveings, what is afternoon in SL (and all the US ppl login too), I really feel pissed for it seem that at that time for one in Europe it is nearly getting impossible to login - but my eveing hours are the time I can use this program - hum, or better said COULD use it if I would have a change to login,,, Realyl thinking about selling land and not longer pay land tiers for a land that I mostly can't work or live on !!!

I dunno
05-14-2005 13:40
From: Shirokuro Sojourner ROFL Yiffy!
Actually, I think the lag/movement problems are something to do with the wireless card in my new PC. If I connect over wired ethernet its OK. Its wierd though, I have a different laptop which I use to access SL wirelessly and it never showed such issues. Hmm guess I have some investigating to do.
Seems I can get onto SL fine this morning. Last night was a complete mess though. I've been having the same movement problem for 1 1/2 weeks and I'm not wireless...

From: Spooky Caligari I got on after like six or seven tries. I just suggest to keep trying. I've been trying for over 24 hours and can't get logged in... and even if I manage to I am having major lag issues... makes me wonder after reading all this forum stuff if it's even worth my time to continue trying ~sigh~

Second Life Users Union organizational meeting Wednesday
05-14-2005 13:53
Join the Second Life Users Union! We are having an organizational meeting on Wednesday. There is only strength in numbers. We plan to demand that the Lindens repay us for the time lost on here. If they won't, we'll set up picket lines at the entry area and hand out notecards explaining the login problems to new users as they come on.

Hey! It Isn't My Imagination!
05-14-2005 13:59
Here I thought it was me...not being able to get in...I'm with John, a few sentences back...I'm paying $125 a MONTH for this kind of service? And...he makes a valid point about the dinky stuff...it's unimportant if we CAN'T GET IN! I may as well go back to 'THERE', or 'ACTIVE WORLDS'!!!
My MAIN concern however, is...I'm planning a wedding here for June 24--I sure as heck don't wanna be late for THAT!
If we have to wait this long to get in, why not spend the time rebooting the mainframe??? Umm, I'm no techie, but can't you do that? Otherwise, clean the spiders, dust and dog/cat hairs out of the fan maybe? Works for me....

People keep saying this has been going on for weeks - how come I didn't hear anything about this until yesterday? Yesterday was the first day in several months I've had any (or heard of) problems with logins. Today I'm having problems. I'm in the over $200 per month category, but I also understand that SL is the first of its kind and its not going to be running at 100%. Its been about 24 hours since problems have been happening (that I've heard of... and I'm in the game constantly!). Give them a little time! Issues happen with any application/network as complicated as SL. Crap, Google has more money from their IPO than just about anyone, and they had a few hours of downtime last week! That being said, it seems I picked a good weekend to have my bachelor party. -Flip

Interestingly if I open yahoo while trying to log in 7 out of 10 times I get in. Have no clue why. But I think the real reason for the general frustration everyone is feeling is no one is telling us anything. Except there's a problem, be patient and keep trying. That part we know. Can you tell us what the problem is and what is being done on a realtime basis to correct the problem? It's the sense of being ignored that has people up in arms.

This is stupid. Plain and simple! 24 hours ago - I was online. Everything was going great. I log out for an hour and BAM! That's where am at STILL! 24 hours and still no fix? LL - you guys are doing some great business here, really.... Look at all of the happy people! They love you right now. I'm sure glad I lowered my land! I thought $18.00 a month would be bad. But some people pay $200+ a month for something they own...and can't get on? That's like me building walls around someone's house in RL and having them not be able to enter THEIR land. Maybe it's time for you guys to really tell us what's really up - and not give us the damn run-a-round.
And yes - I got in after 6 hours of trying. But only to be stuck in game after an hour....now it's back to square one.....

Hahaha, I just LOVE how most of the people complaining about the cost and being reimbursed are the ones who haven't seen the most of it...
Lindens, just stay off the forums. It would only make you want to ignore the problem so these constant whiners cant get in!
BTW: Try that thing with minimizing it, just worked for me!

This is unreal , getting very irritated, I pay quite a bit to enjoy my SL here and this is getting to be tiresome. Never in TSo or any other lonline games have i experienced such troubles. Some refund or something should be issued for the horrible experience most have endured in the last month.

Why not look on the bright side and turn a negative into a positive? I've read an entire book this week sitting in front of my computer waiting to log on to SL.
