I'm sorry people are having problems logging-in. It's not your computer. There are some fixes in the works, but they won't be deployed until the next patch (1.6.5).

Until then, the best thing to do is keep trying, and wait until you're returned to the log-in screen to try again.

Our apologies -- we know this is a huge problem.

we have people paying $40USD a month who can't log into the game. Alot of people pay more than this. I for one would appriciate a more indepth answer to why I can't log in. Seems the string of update (what was it 4 in 3 weeks) has done little to ease our pain. Why, if there is such a major issue with the loggin server is the fix for it tied to the 1.6.5 update. Agreed there are major issues with the game that need to be fixed but they are basically a non-issue if you can't log in.

Is it not possible to delay the 1.6.5 update which seems minor based on the list of fixes
to fix the log in server????

fixing floating text seems a little silly when people can't log in the game to read it

I think everyone appriciated the hard work you all put into the game but it's not cheap for people who own land and we should be entitled to a bit more customer service than the standard form letters we get when we submit bug reports or contact customer support.

Thank you for concidering this opinion.

Well, it's been four days now for me. Next Tuesday it will be a full week. That's far too long, in my opinion, to have to wait for a fix.

I still cannot get in! Tell me something: Will we all get rebates for the time spent NOT being able to login to SL? I pay over $200 a month NOT to be able to get IN? I must be nuts! Last time I was ABLE to get ingame, I started selling my land. If this continues, IF I can get in, I will divest myself of the REST of it.

Major bug in the preview version!...
I went and used same log on as i allways do...and it said that it was wrong make shure caps lock is off bla la bla
so i cut and paste'd from the older Sl...same thing, then i tried it real slow pokeing each key every few seconds...same thing
then i go back to try the older Sl...and it says No dominon name found or Incorrect logon
did my account get deleted or what lol

Yes Circe...I've been doing the same thing. I'm trying like heck to sell off all of my land. I'm planning to reduce my land tier way, way down. I have no problem with spending money on a game with some reasonable level of support but this is just getting worse rather than better.

I used to play There and have been going back now and again lately. The things I like...not waiting 20 years to rez...being able to drive without banging into crap that I can't see for 10 minutes or crashing...and most of all...actually being able to log in.

I'm not a computer expert but I'm telling you...the amount of times that this game causes me to have to hard boot my computer is UNREAL. It is soooo hard on my system...its ridiculous.

I love my SL friends and there are a lot of great things about the game but its silly that they can't even manage to stabilize the most basic things about the game.

In my opinion, make the base game work first...then worry about redesigning the website or streaming movies.

They're just adding issues to issues to issues by doing nothing well or fixing the large things that are broken and I'm sorry but this game is extremely expensive to play if you're committed to it.

There's simply no excuse to treat customers this way.....none.

Heh i noticed 3 days ago there was a lot of problems logging in so i went to play DAoC to give the login server a bit less to worry about hehe. Eventually i get in. But today i been tapping the ENTER button at the login screen repeatedly hoping to get. I got in like 2 times, only to get this giant lag storm that kept me from moving and made the minimap turn red and log me out. Ive seen better login-server to world-server connectivity from shadowbane then i have here the last few days. I can only hope it gets so bad the next 24 hours the lindens will be forced to do something to quick fix it hehe.

Couldn't agree more. Those of us with some relevant s/w background know that SL isn't a particularly sophisticated piece of software, either on the client or server end.
There are plenty of open source projects around that could be used together to build a better SL - perhaps even a P2P one. (e.g. OpenSceneGraph, ODE, MySql, Apache, reliable multicast messaging, etc. etc. etc.)
