Yes, people do go to clubs, and have virtual sex in SL. But SL isnt a giant a club. I happen to live on top of a volcano in my group mall, and peacefully talk to a ton of other AV's who arn't all about sex...

It IS the ultimate retreat, jerkwad. I've been using SL as a retreat for 10 freaking months... and it works. Really well.

What I hate even more:

A game that I pay good money for that I can not log in to, and then having the owners tell me to hurry up and wait. "Oh we will get around to it, come back on Tuesday." What kind of BS is this? I began noticing things going downhill early this week, followed by the loss of the ability to log in. They can not fix a login problem for a week? What a bunch of crap. This is absolutely unacceptable. I am super pissed off here. I want a refund on my lost week; not that I will ever see one. I have put a lot of time into my current project but this is making me consider just scrapping it alll and quitting.

One, Linden DOES have it written right into their TOS that they have no obligation to compensate you. If they do, it's because they want to, not because they have to. We'll repeat this, as simplistic as words can be.

They don't have to give you squat.

The terms you agreed to on signup state so. Yeah, it sucks, yeah, I'm annoyed that I can't log in, but deal with it. It means I'm getting productive things done in my first life, and I've managed to weave about 4,000 links of steel together in the time I've been off SL.

Not everyone can go to freaking cancun whenever they need a damn break! Most people who have stressful jobs only get about 2-3 weeks of vacation time a year. That's NOT enough time to go to cancun whenever you're stressed! And, your little real vacation would be very expensive wouldn't it? It simply isn't possible for most people. So in comes good ol' SL, which requires no vacation time, because you can play it after work, it's a lot less expensive than a vacation to cancun all the time, and it's very relaxing, and fun at the same time. This once again points to my description of SL being the ultimate retreat.

To reply further: I have 25 years of professional programming experience. I've debugged networks, designed networks, sold computers, written mass-market software, and operated my company for the last 20 years. So uh, yeah, I know a little bit about how difficult it is to maintain software.

I also know better than that pack of pro-Linden propaganda ya threw at us. You applying for a job, eh? LOL

Altruistic? Put the figures to it: 600 sims, $200 minimum per sim... $120,000 a year. $1000 fee to set up a private sim in the first place. On Mainland of course, we know they don't just get $200 per sim, because most sims are cut up into smaller chunks of land which run a lot more. And there's those $80-$120 per year user fees. $80 * (how many thousands of users???)= $$$$$.

So forgive me for calling a goose a goose, but there ya have it. I will defend your right to leave the message you did and even nod in approval at your loyalty, but hey, I mean, give us a break. When the car is shuddering down the road and the radiator bursts, you don't praise the manufacturer for good workmanship.

Well, given that I'm a professional armorer with nine years experience so far... I've progressed beyond paperclips. My first attempt at chainmail was at age 12, made with chunks of 1/8" solder, and after that, a spool of 10ga fencing wire. I'm a little more refined with it than that now, mind you... I've assembled 30 complete suits of armor over the past 9 years, and probably hundreds of smaller metal items.

I recomend Jurgens baby shampoo for most of you(NO MORE TEARS) and when you have 2 or 3 weeks of vacation time im sure you can fit in a trip to cancun, im nothing but a self employed basement/ kitchen remodeler(doesnt pay good money so you have to work shit loads of hours) and i could fit it in anytime i want.

try doing something off the computer tonight, you will find its better than any damn game. Even just sitting outside and drinking a beer or whatever you prefer would be better then bitching on these forums i think you ALL would agree to that. cya
