From: Moriz Gupte Ok, I listened to Cori Linden's advice and installed version 1.6.5. AND NOW I GET THE MESSAGE THAT MY LOGIN DETAILS ARE NOT CORRECT!!! What's going on? I am 100% sure I am entering the right information. In any case, I uninstalled version 1.6.5 and reinstalled the older 1.6.4 version and now it recognises my login information but cannot get in of course. And there is some funny message about clock not set right (hilarious). When I installed version 1.6.4, I used to get a sligthly different message ie without the clock part. Any help/comments. BTW there is another message that you should not pay attention to, i.e. that you have a bad driver for some intel chipset thing....used to obtain this after a fresh install of 1.6.3 R That sbecause only a short amount of accounts are enabled to work with the preview grid.

Tier Down!! Let LL worry about log ins then....
05-14-2005 22:21
Tier down stop payments, one time charge and let it all go to hell in the same hand basket, as we all see it doing. 3 hours to log in only to play for a few minutes to crash again and wait wait wait wait,.,. FTS ( fuc tha Shi ) you got it.... STOP paying for a program that doesn't work, when they get it up and running then we pay then for a "JOB well done" until then just try and if it doesn't work send every message to LL and then let them work out the issues on thier own money not ours...
This is a great game but damn not worth a monthly charge at all, major issues being put aside for small DUMB shit to add, STOP already and expand your tunnel vision to the REAL problem at hand!!!! Pissed is not the word for what I am, wait 3 hours to play for a lousy 10 minutes, then wait another 3 - 4 hours for WHAT!!!! FIX THE REAL ISSUES and forget the small unimportant ones, You have a great game here but your missing the BIG picture, your losing good customers over issues you want to wait 4 days to fix.. Ok I am done bitching I again waited another hour and 20 minutes still not in so I am out Best of luck to all....

From: Selkit Diller Wayfinder;
Again, I have little sympathy. Thirty days, I can understand. That would be an entire paid period unserviced. However, there are apparently fixes underway for Tuesday, and while I am skeptical as usual about any sort of patch... there's very little to do now but wait. I'm sure there are plenty of higher-tier members who are disappointed, but let's look at this realistically. Not many landowners actually are above the 1024 tier. For the ones at the 1024 tier, being paid for a 4 day downtime would be a credit of about a dollar. In all honesty? Until this issue actually goes past Tuesday (which it may...), let's leave things at the level they are. You're not going to get a penny out of LL without suing them, and even then, I doubt anyone would succeed in doing so. As one of the MANY landowners above the 1024 tier, I say: So you will be covering the several days of downtime for the $200+ a month that I spend? You have been here for two months and have not had the pleasure of going through this before. You don't know LL's history with this kind of thing and are talking out your ass.

Actually, I'm simply telling you that so far, it's four days, and that unless you want to attempt to sue LL over what really only amounts to about $30 worth of signed time, it's really not worth getting riled up over. Do you make a living off this game/creative outlet/escape from reality? And incidentally? I may have only been on for two months, but I'm already heading a community sim. Don't be too quick to fling the "OMG! N00b!" card on the table. It's really distasteful.

And on that note, I seem to have logged in first try without a hitch. Perhaps LL's working on fixes to ease the strain on the servers even as we shout uselessly into the forum?

I did not use any leet expressions. By heading up a community sim, I assume that means that you are paying for it? If so, then I would look upon your comment differently. Otherwise, I still believe you are talking out of your ass.

I'm not at the rate that you are (I'm $75 per month) but I depend on Lindens to pay part of that back to me. It's not just the down time it's the money I lose in business.
Anyway, it's time we did something about this. The Second Life Users Union has been formed as a group and we will be having an organizational meeting on Wednesday at 6 PM PDT. I hope you'll join and attend the meeting. Maybe even put yourself up for a spot on the board of directors.
We hope to pull as many users into this as possible and form a formidable bargaining unit with the Lindens.

I used to play SL long before alot had played,I played when it had first came out and there were still lag issues with the game(none as much as now ).I rejoined thinking that SL would be better now but I am wrong.
To Robin Linden,I work in software I am a game dev,but one thing any dev knows is to look at the situation from the customers view.Obviously LL isn't looking at it from that way.I doubt people will care for streaming video and all the "goodies" you intend to push on us.The problem is the lag and login issue which should be your main concern.I would care more about the issue of lag and login before trying to push out things we cant even use. What's the point to give us streaming video when we can't even log in?There is no logic in that.
Yes it is frustrating to have everyone of your customers complain but that is what happens in any mmo .Take into consideration that if you lose all of your players due to lag issues and poor customer support you won't have a game.Customers are always right, you should try to help them in everyway possible .Because it is THEM that pay for the bills. You lose your customer base you lose the money .Maybe rethinking what is more important is the best thing than what you think will catch the eye of newer players. If I were a new player and came here and saw all the stuff you have and cant even log in I wouldnt even waste my time.
I am very very sorry for those players whom pay well over $50.I would downsize and sell off all your land and wait for them to fix the problem. As far as I can see they are worrying more about what new things they can push on us than what's more imporant.
Tell me whats more imporant to you lindens,a crappy option that adds to the already laggy situation or fixing the main problem:login and lag issues.
Maybe your priorities are all wrong ,but from what I can see you care nothing of your customers.

From: merewen Rosebud Why not look on the bright side and turn a negative into a positive? I've read an entire book this week sitting in front of my computer waiting to log on to SL. Ha! Yesterday I said that to my friend Janie Marlowe while trying to get in...."boy am I glad I read books!"

We hope to pull as many users into this as possible and form a formidable bargaining unit with the Lindens. I am sure that you realize that we will first have to bargain with the FIC, as they have the keys to the kingdom! I will check out your group when I can get in. I see on preview that a few have made it in, I am on hour two of this particular session of trying. We have our land for our enjoyment. I can't begin to imagine what it is like for people like yourselves that rely on the $L you generate with that land. I don't know if you are aware, but a while back we had a grid rollback and those who were lucky enough to have been able to log on were given a nice piece of $L for their trouble. I don't know if that will happen this time, but I hope LL will do something, as this is a pretty heavy hit for a lot of people. Sometimes I think of LL as kind of like that dealer that didn't answer your page right away. Oh, sure, they'd come around eventually, but sometimes you'd really have to wait. Then they want to talk or hang out. Even if you got a little extra, it wasn't really worth it, because you weren't getting what you wanted, which was to just kick back and get high. LL has done this with the video and other geegaws. They are fun, but it is just one more thing we have to deal with that is not helping us get high. Right now, a lot of us have the bong, the weed and no freakin' fire! I don't want an extra hit, Lindens, just fix the logins! Disclaimer: I do not actually have a bong or weed . I do have some fire. EDIT: Finally made it in.

From: Poledra Behemoth I've been sitting here in SL for 15 hrs straight, Morris box is desolate at the moment, such a great time to get some work done I agree with you Davy, I have only had login in problems since my Saturday morning (I'm from Australia), but yes, like all I am visited by the Lag Monster on a regular basis. While I feel for you Premium account holders out there, it is pointless to resort to mud slinging and threats to leave SL. The platform is growing at such a phenomenal rate, that one must expect there to be problems. Granted, some things should have been sorted out and debugged by now, but with all that peole want to see and do, I think that LL is doing a wonderful job. I certainly would never threaten to leave, although I do get frustrated at the lengthy log in wait, maybe I am a true addict, I will never leave. As I have posted before, patience is a virtue. A lot of people have been having problems since Tuesday. We're actually green with envy that people out there didn't start having problems til yesterday and today LOL

Im selling my land, already put it up for sale and tiering down to basic till i see they care about whats important (actually being able to log in) And many of my friends are doing the same i belive this is the only way to get them to wake up because its plain to see they just dont care. Im done ranting now im going to play an online game that you can actually log into.
peace out Cage

From: Raven Lehane To show you how concerned the Lindens are over this, I just got an message from a friend who managed to get on after almost four hours of trying. She went to ask live help a question and there is absolutely not one person working live help.
And this on the busiest night of the week. This might have been said, but isn't live help all in game volunteers? Probably THEY can't get in either.

Nah. Doesn't work for me Fiona Of course every night is different for me. One night turning off my firewall worked to get me in, another night changing my clock back a week worked to get me in LOL So maybe tomorrow minimizing will work? From: Fiona Amarula If anyone is even still trying... Click 'connect' and then minimize your screen. Wait a few minutes and you are in!! This is the third time it's worked for me since last night. Its works 1 in 3 times, so try it again if it doesn't work the first time. Good luck! "Damn the man! Save the Empire!"

Selkit, I'm so glad you've gotten on first try without a hitch. That must surely mean that Lindens have fixed everything and the experiences of the other users here... some of whom have been SL members for many, many months, and have experienced these same problems before... must just be wrong. No logon problems tonight, eh? Sure you're not with the FIC?

peace out Cage That's what I would do untill the problem is fixed. They want to ramble on about a "minor" problem.I don't exactly call the MAJORITY of the players not being able to log in a MINOR problem. That is a VERY BIG problem in my opinion. And in all honesty to say that just because someone isn't in software they can't complain because they don't know what it takes to do it.Well take this into consideration, you have clients paying for you to give them fun and enjoyment .You work to please the clients. So far it doesnt look like a good job. With any mmo there will be problems, but you barely telling people what the true problem is isn't good. You make people wonder and worry and even insult someone for making a comment towards you, that isn't very professional. People want to play the game to enjoy it,not to waste money on somthing they cant even get into. This is why Lineage 2 lost ALOT of players,POOR customer support.

Oh, wait. Feted Inner Core, not Feeted Inner Core... my bad. And to the one badgering me about new status? Just 'cause I'm new dun' make me ignorant. FYI, yes, I do indirectly pay for the community. On another note, SL just dumped me after a lagspike typical of what's been happening lately. Seems to come and go in waves for me. Oh well. Time to go blow the dust off the Sega Genesis and revisit the love of 2D. Ah, MUSHA... how I missed thee.

tp's very dangerous right noq
05-14-2005 23:58
I just hung again using a tp but logins are getting faster. Probably just because there's less traffic now.
But before anyone goes tiering down or giving up completely why don't you join the group Second Life Users Union. We're trying to get enough people together so we can negotiate with the Lindens with some strength. We're having an organizational meeting Wednesday at 6 PM PDT. If you give up and abandon your land the Lindens don't care. They'll only resell it.
If we can get a well organized, large group of us together we can get their attention. I pay $75 USD a month and they don't give a rats ass about me. But if we can get together a group where we can say we pay in total $5000, believe me, they'll listen.

I missed the Roadhhouse Radio Prom due to TP, flying & log in issues. It is incredibly frustrating to say the least. Also, Even when you can get in again..not being able to get anywhere without have to "relog" because of TP & flying issues Trying to stay home to work on vendors but due to text bugs, when I try to edit notecards and/or scripts it over writes the exisiting info that even relogging doesn't always help with , therefore at this point it's impossible for me to do that (has been for about a week or more now). Sad to say I am less & less tempted to even attempt to log in because even on the now becoming, "rare" occasion I do make it in over the last few days not like there's much I am even able to do once I'm actually in SL. & did I mention my sister only has every other weekend off , which is when she logs into sl? Guess what weekend this is? I really miss my sissy I do understand that LL is trying to fix the issues but I also understand that the people posting here do have valid gripes. Not being able to get into SL and/or having issues that prevent you from being able to be productive and/or socializing (imo the core components of SL) is unacceptable. SL is a service we pay for (some more then others) & just doesn't seem right to be made to pay when we are not even be able to do the very basic things in SL, like log in, explore, socialize, create, etc.. I imagine that LL is as frustrated by this as we are. It has to be alot of pressure on them seeing the rants & knowing that as we speak people are tiering down and/or leaving SL entirely due to these issues. SL has so much potential. Unfortunately it is being hindered by many issues. I hope that SL can overcome these obstacles soon so that we may get back to helping SL realize it's potential & enjoy what I now refer to as "Whenever life" (whenever SL allows us to log in,create, & socialize) & get to the "Second Life" as it's intended to be.
