Jack/Blondin:From: someone [2009/05/07 11:46] Jack Linden: Yohan, we absolutely do not want to remove adult content. In fact, if you look carefully at the messaging it ought to be clear that we want to give adult business a much clearer path and more direct promotional opportunities What about Adult Content that is NOT a business? Blondin has already indicated a couple of cases where someone's personal sexually-oriented content would be treated as public. All the comments from Linden Labs seem to be about Adult Oriented businesses, and not even all of them seem to be getting the opportunity to move. It seems unlikely that you'll be offering the restricted amount of Ursula land to people who just have a potentially infringing lifestyle. If someone gets ARed after he requests a move and gets turned down... will they get any recourse or opportunity to move later?

From: Argent Stonecutter I think that telling people they aren't going to be swapped out but they can't keep their current lifestyle without paying FIC land barons huge sums of money is at least as big a problem, and one that Linden Labs is far less likely to have sympathy with if Blondin's comments are on target. I suppose you mean the cheerleading for land speculation. I keep trying to get the point across that they don't actually have any choices here; either they have to offer the swap to everybody who owns Mainland, or they can't offer it to anyone. They really don't get to go around judging who's been naughty enough to get the free ticket. It's not just making up new rules and regulations--*that* they can do. But they can't differentially apply those rules to different classes of landowners without infringing the rights of the disadvantaged class, and because those landowners have been paying real US$ to LL all this time, such differential treatment is not just some "community" issue, it's a real legal matter. All Mature Mainland came with the same content permissions. If any owners get to preserve those rights, *all* such landowners must be offered the same treatment. It's not something LL gets to decide. They really would do well to STFU about it, too. They'd have gotten off relatively cheaply by just offering the option to everybody for some fixed interval without a lot of fanfare. Now they've so fouled the waters that they could be forced to make such swaps for as long as any Mainland owners remain.

From: Qie Niangao I suppose you mean the cheerleading for land speculation. More the assumption that "Adult Content" means "Business" except when he's faced with a specific example to the contrary.

Key Points that need satisfactory resolution
05-08-2009 03:10
1. The mechanism for advising all residents of the change. Login Screen, MOTD and email preferably.
2. All residents who wish to move should be allowed to. Advising to use discretion not only disadvantages and leaves vulnerable businesses who are denied a move but also limits the options for future use for all those who have mature land.
3. First come first served is not acceptable. This needs to be refined. at a bare minimim it needs to be done by holdings size.
4. You need to clarify the move window.. 9 days is obviously too short for large plots. A minimum of one month is necessary however, 60 days which matches the ease in of the new viewer would be more appropriate. As acceptable compensation, these 60 days are completely tier free. i.e. you refund 2 months tier - which is easier than writing a job to suspend taking the payments I suspect.
5. As demonstrated by the approach to SL6B, adult content, along with the teen grid, are now marginalised from LL public events. Details of how parallel infrastructure (showcase and any features that adult content will no longer have full access to) and participation in events needs to be detailed.
6. There needs to be a clear channel of communication for all residents to contact support regarding verification failures. If these people are using their own identification rather than workarounds to verify then the least you can do is provide them with some ease of use when there are problems. You also need to make sure that the support teams are aware of the current issues around verification and understand what needs to be done. This can't wait until final release as people are already verifying in preparation.
that's it for the moment, I'm sure I'll think of more.
and Blondin, you did extremely well yesterday. Well done.

There are only so many times someone can be asked about their tits before it becomes trying enjoy

snow bunnies free sex room and diner franchise
05-08-2009 03:49
Jack said yesterday that they keep a record of what was on the plot on month before. Since in theory there's only about 6-7 weeks before this kicks off, I need to start getting the franchise shop built so it can be out in time to be captured for the full month. Of course, if I don't need to because they're no interest I won't bother.. I'd actually like to go and finish building some of the things that seem to have been abandoned since this mess kicked off. So, should I bother is there any kind of need to do teh sexxx or is everyone happy to take their chances with the reviewers? If I do then it would be great if someone would offer me a guided tour of stepford or the equivalent - I need to look at the kitchens

From: Valerius Constantine I am *really* beginning to like the idea of substituting "linden" for every scrap of profanity in every ad and land description on mature mainland. They would really be Lindened if we did that. Not only is it appropriate, they have to deal with us using a word *everyone* knows the meaning of or to ban their own name.

sl biab is finally a reality

http://chronicle.com/wiredcampus/article/3758/case-western-debuts-private-version-of-second-lifefar more sensible all round. Because of the data security concerns I can't believe any business or educator is on the main grid anyway - except for marketing.

Maybe a little bit of good news?
05-08-2009 05:21
I just read the transcript of Blondin's last meeting and it sounds like they may be relaxing the restrictions for certain keywords, or "discussing" it anyway which is good. I will never understand how they got it in their heads that ONLY businesses advertise in search. There are many FREE places providing content and entertainment for many residents in SL and these are places that keep people interested in SL as well as providing the NEED for people to buy many items some of the related business owners/merchants sell. I provide one of those free places and happily pay my expensive tier each month so I can continue providing a place for people to enjoy. I hope the keywords I care about the most are in the group of words being considered to be removed from the filter. Of course LL has a habit of coming back with a worse plan than the original they presented. Sorry to be pesimistic. Just been around too long. LOL

From: Da5id Weatherwax Well I guess we will NEVER see the Hong Kong Cavaliers on the grid then, because sure as heck the overthruster will be adult.... Sometimes I think LL is YoYoDyne. Instead of giving everyone the same first name, they gave them the same last name in an attempt to throw us all off.

From: Argent Stonecutter More the assumption that "Adult Content" means "Business" except when he's faced with a specific example to the contrary. Exactly.. I'm flagging my island as Adult not because of any business that goes on there (well, not at the moment, but I may bring Adult businesses in now) but because there certainly is "Adult" content there that's not safely hidden away, so a chance visitor might see it in use and become upset, and because, while I don't particularly encourage, and certainly don't advertise for visitors, I don't take active steps to keep people out.

When I have my mazes or Easter Egg hunts running, I always advertise it. And what I get in the tipjar covers the ads and only the ads (if I'm lucky.) The don't come close to covering my land tier. I advertise my events because they are fun activities I've constructed and I want anybody who is bored to come and enjoy themselves. The only compensation I make is with the tipjar - I don't approach SL as a business so I don't have a store I'm trying to attract people into. My compensation is in the fun I get building and the thanks I (sometimes) get from visitors who enjoy my games. Thank God I don't view SL as a business - I'd be bankrupt! And while none of my games (Skullquest, Easter egg hunts, Mazes too numerous to count) have been adult in nature, who knows what I'll feel like building next. Having an ad for people to enjoy themselves at my expense for a couple of hours hardly makes me a business though.

Completely, but I'm prepared to suffer if we can have this as the theme tune.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ox1Tore9nwand this of course http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqxmIi_RPWU which possibly has lyrics more suitable to our predicament. of course substitute she for LL and it's extremely close
