I have to pass on the B-day party....I feel I should not attend ANY sl festivities.

It just sends the Lindens a message that everything is ok about herding us like sheep to pornoland.

They never miss the point. They dodge it and try to look gracious and charming as they do, failing at both.

Maybe we *like* SL, and want LL to *not* get their asses sued off over this. Maybe we're participating in a forum discussions because LL asked for out input, and part of that input is that we see glaring liability issues for LL if they continue on this course.

We *like* SL, and don't want the company that hosts it going bankrupt, see?

^V^
Nothing wrong with participating in forum discussions, quite the contrary. Do you think that LL's lawyers, who presumably know more than we do about their thought processes, haven't educated them adequately about the legal ramifications of what they are doing? Do you really feel that bunch of residents, none of whom is a lawyer, is going to change LL's mind on the legality of this one Iota?

What was it that Carol Kane said in "Scrooged"? "Sometimes, you have to slap them in the face to get their attention!" :)
And how do you feel that's going so far?

Well, how about someone who actually KNOWS what the legalities of this stuff could be step up, identify themselves and talk about it from a more expert perspective?

On a side note, ever notice that LL always seems to upset the residents just before SLXB celebration, and then there's always a protest? You think they would start scheduling their goofy plans so people aren't upset and don't ruin the celebration. Or is it just that they are always upsetting someone? :)
Darien, yes I agree - it's just another sign of how half-arsed LL seem to be at managing anything. Project Management appears to be extremely lacking. Communication with residents in any consistent way extremely lacking, and now the timing of this event.

As you know, I take the standpoint that LL can do whatever it likes to the product that it totally owns, and we have the right to decide whether we are going to "play" in their world or not.

Given that, you would think it would be in their best interests to keep as many residents informed as possible, in the interests of creating goodwill with those who would otherwise be on the fence with an issue. As it is, while I can see pros and cons with this whole zoning thing, the way they are going about it is such that I am dead against it. I get the feeling, based on comments I have seen here, there there are others who feel the same way (i.e. right idea, wrong implementation).

It certainly explains why blondin couldn't answer our questions with any degree of certainty.. lol

Ok. Questions for the open house tonight

1. what is the expected release date for the new policy
2. is the pg definition used for SL6b now going to become official policy as stated in that blog post
3. what is the latest compensation package to be offered to residents who are forced to move

any others?

The SL6B announcement says that "the *current* definition of "PG" is..." Does this mean that we are supposed to be abiding by it in-world as we speak?

Also- the RC is back on the "mandatory" list- A member of my group installed it and it has broken all her HUDs, including completely greying out her sensations hud. No words on it at all.

She also cannot right-click on any of her HUD's

anyone know what the deal is there?

10 or maybe more support personnel will be assigned to handle requests for moves?

I guess they really are expecting 2 to 4 % at most.

Once LL has fully played its hand I am sure they will be found. At the moment LL hasn't instigated everything so we will have to wait and see once the final plan has been unrolled and things are a done deal. I wouldn't make any statements as a lawyer until the hand has been played fully.

No I am not a Lawyer but if I was thats how I would play it :)

Legal Action
05-07-2009 14:32
Face it, ppl, Second Life is not your or my world and your or my creation but Linden Lab property by all means. And if Mr. Boss Linden thinks that there are "Millions" of "potential" users out there who avoid SL because of some really hot pixel sex, then he has all the right to think so. And if Mr. Boss Linden decides that a potential dinner with the pope would be nicer than watching pixels simulating sex, then he has all the right to do so. And if Mr. Boss Corporate America does not invite Mr. Boss Linden to dinner because of naughty pixels simulating hot sex, and Mr. Boss Linden HATES not to get invited by Mr. Boss Corporate America, then Mr. Boss Linden has all the right to hate it.

In the end we all can be glad when Mr. Boss Linden leaves at least some sculpted pixel vibrators buzzing in SL. And any kind of prohibition was always big biz for the pirates, you know.

I do not share Mr. Boss Linden“s opinion on the subject, nor do i share his latest ideas on handling the "problem" of naughty pixels simulating hot sex. But hey ppl, stop whining and thinking of legal actions. The only thing Mr. Boss Linden will react on is the loss of money, and not the "potential" money cause this is not even earned. And nothing else but a remarkable loss of profits will make him change his mind.

Mr. Boss Linden knows exactly that too many people have invested too much of money and time in-world to simply withdraw these investments only because of his latest decisions.

We need pirates, not lawyers.

Well, the sender is one of the posters here, so maybe he/she can explain about being part of the FIC. :p

I'm not sure if I can reply anymore-I thought I was banned. And yeah I received that wacky "forbidden to post 403 message" I had been trying to edit my last-last post :) I couldn't edit and I'll see if I can post now.

BTW I don't know why I would have been banned but I suspect something..Anyway the edit was that things being said about OL in the negative are not entirely true-in my experience.

That doesn't mean it's great now but there definitely is potential there. I'm just tired of fighting and attempting to convince an entity that's basically unwilling (from all appearances) to consider the users side in this.

Oh and I am not now nor ever have been part of the FIC :p

OL certainly has *potential* plenty. But right now it's not anywhere near a replacement for SL, so suggesting that people should go there... to save money on land rental, of all thing... isn't terribly useful.

At the risk of being branded a dirty perv, I don't want to go there because it is designated for kids. I was told no sex allowed. No, I don't want to boink anything that moves, but I would like to be able to make inventive, romantic love to my partner in peace.
