I think 3000 is an impressive statement.

Austria has 8 000 000 citizens. A public opinion poll where 150 people are asked by a professional agency counts here as representative result.

In Germany, with 80 000 000 citizens are 1500 people representative.

Here we have 3000 and growing against the plan, after only one week or so.

This should give LL something to think.

If I were a CEO there I would start to become nervous.

I think not that we had 3000 different avatar-names here in the forums about the change.

Maybe some hundred at start.

Any polls on the Internet are not representative. The polls you are talking about in rl, they are done in different way a) in person b) by phone. Polls done by phone are known as not very representative, because people answer differently than in person. The best poll is done in person by rl. Our jira post is not a poll, it's like a petition, there is only one choice, you can vote against. So all of this is not representative.

I'm not saying this because I support LL in this issue, but rather to show how LL is afraid to ask their residents. They could do representantive poll during log in screen. There should be two answers YES and NO. The question should not be asked to residents younger than one week (in order to avoid any manipulations). Then such a poll would be representative.

I think we all agree what the results would be: 99.9% for no to adult changes and censorship. Thats why LL is afraid to do a real poll.

what to do? The protest or some kind of boycott can be the only way. Of course as long as it is legal, nothing against TOS. However, for example boycotting new RC version, protesting in world and in RL. not buying the classifieds. etc.

It is time to write the constitution for SL, it should start with words:

"We The People - Not Avatars...."

Good Grief - that's a little over zealous eh? - I read the advice from the others - please let us know how you get on. Meanwhile I reckon this is as good a time as any to post again the xstreet links to the protest 'art'

I got no answer in IM. Then I involved my landpartner because she speaks much better english than me. We made a notecard, asking why Scarlet Linden took the posters away and if we have done something against the TOS by rezzing these posters, etc. The notecard was accepted ca, one hour before but is still unanswered. I try to catch a german speaking Linden for live chat - from my former concierge times I know that there are some available (if they want...) and we're doing an AR and an email to Harry Linden wich was a hint by Lord S. because H. Linden is the boss of the G-team. To him we send an email.

So far no answers to IM or the notecard. Silence on the other side... As soon I have one I post it.

Yes, that is the only cure for despots. Unfortunately, I don't think it will fit King Linden's business model, so...off with their heads. I wonder if virtual worlds will ever be able to evolve like that. I don't see it happening, its more likely we can have some kind of cloud computing and have our virtual world on our own PC or in the cloud and use the internet to TP. However, I think having to have a server is too complicated.

/me wonders if Blondin & Blue, and any other Linden that might be reading, understand how much of what we dislike about this whole adult content thing is driven by exactly what just happened to Wynochee.

Lucky Kips on Xstreet has this suggestion regarding the SL6BD party

From: someone

At this Slurl below, you can pick up a free monk's or nun's habit. I think if folks want to protest at this upcoming party, get your free outfit and attend dressed in it. Make a statement to good ole Linden Lab.

I think pretty much every single Linden knows lots of people are upset about this crap but 99% of them don't have any more say in it than we do.

Please don't go out of your way to make SL6B less enjoyable.

It's been a while since I've gotten an update, but last I knew Governance reported to Harry who reported to Jack who reported to Cyn.

One thing to do at the upcoming SL6B is to study the Linden exhibit to try to glean a more current org chart.

Apparently, Selene Linden has changed the rules on the Xstreet forums. If you break the rules of SL there, and you should see the rules she's listing, they can ban you from second life. So...if you talk about things not sl related, for instance...or if you are abusive...who decides that?

If I vanish without a trace, you'll know why. :-/

That has been the rule here for some time now, some say years, although I never heard of until Katt Linden came around. It's only natural they would eventually extend the same rules to that forum since they now own it.

On a side note, ever notice that LL always seems to upset the residents just before SLXB celebration, and then there's always a protest? You think they would start scheduling their goofy plans so people aren't upset and don't ruin the celebration. Or is it just that they are always upsetting someone? :)

Next Brown Bag Meeting Mon 11th May
05-07-2009 12:53
I have been invited to the next Brown Bag meeting on the above date to further discuss the definitions here

https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417&task=knowledge&questionID=6010

before LL finalise them.

Below is the tentative agenda:
-Intro
-Setting Goals for Meeting
- Recap of current definitions
- Resident Pain Point with these definitions
- Dialogue
-Conclusion / wrap up

There are lots of questions floating here in the forum, but can you please E.mail your questions to me by Saturday so I can compile as many as I can to take with me and also to pass the questions to LL beforehand in a structured way. I will try to compile at least one question from each person that e.mails me.

My personal email is iain@bdsm-life.com and can you get them to me by Saturday evening 9th May GMT +1 as i wish to bring your voices to the meeting and not speak for myself but for us all.

Thanks in advance and I will do my best to represent you in a professional and fair manner as this is about us all and not just individuals.

Oh yeh, everyone who's got skin in the game needs to sign up for SL6B... and come up with some tasteful builds publicizing the extent of these changes.

Not in your face stuff, things that NOBODY can object to. Like, say, "a history of Toonshine", or "Underdog and his Proton Pills"...

Edit: maybe the Bugs Bunny Amaretto:

A reply on the Blog from Dusty Linden

https://blogs.secondlife.com/community/community/events/blog/2009/05/06/when-second-life-turns-six

From: someone
May 7, 2009 9:51 PM Dusty Linden says:

All —

Regarding ratings, it really doesn't matter what we call it— the policy for this *particular* event, on these *particular* 20 regions is not related to the AO discussion currently taking place. That's a larger discussion that is happening elsewhere, and you are all welcome to participate in it. For this event, all you need to know is contained in this link.

So, for this event:

* No depictions or incidents of violence or gore.
* No depictions or incidents portraying sexual activity or sexual suggestion.
* No depictions or incidents explicitly advocating or suggesting drug or alcohol use.
* No nudity.

If that is too restrictive for the exhibit you envision, you can use your plot of land as a portal to your more mature region, just making sure that the content *on* the fairgrounds meets the requirements and that people know the maturity level of where you are sending them.
