While shooting victim Data Linden and the broken beds are expected to make a full recovery, the episode raises troubling questions about the Lab's control over user generated content and the uncertainties of business in the virtual realm.

A couple observations I just wanted to post. Yesterday I spent a decent amount of time in Oatmeal 15, the Adult rated sim. I didn't really find the massive prison fence very funny. I viewed it more like the Lindens laughing at our expense, but that is just me. When I first arrived, Oskar Linden was already speaking with some of the protesters there. His conversation was short because he was heading off to lunch. He didn't say much at all, and I'm afaid I can't post what he said because I don't have his permission. However, I will say that I have discovered friends of Linden are not a myth. A couple people took it upon themselves to try to censor the protest signs by creating boxes over them to block them from view. This happened repeatedly for a while. Then finally resorted to rezzing this fine picture found here:

It is the first link. Oskar had mentioned something about anything goes in the Adult area with no response to my question about even griefing.

Since I don't have Oskar's permission to post his comments, I just wanted to bring up two of his general ideas about the AC changes. 1) It seems he had access to some kind of numbers which he stated something about 15% of people want to perform sexual acts in front of 85% who don't want to see it. Interesting, but likely just a number pulled out of thin air. I'm not sure, but he did say something about having access to stats. 2) He seems to be under the impression that one must be 18 years old to obtain a credit card.

In any event, I know Oskar is not one of the major players perhaps in this move, but it was an interesting conversation which didn't make me feel any more confident in the Linden Family in general.

Okay that's disgusting. Also, considering we *all* know that the verification process is lame and full of holes, and you can be 18+ and still be a griefer, and the G team is really choosy about which ARs to respond to, I've just had a sickening thought.

They will let the Adult continent become a griefing free for all, hoping that the negative atmosphere will drive us 'perverts' out.

Regarding posting comments, you can always post them on the SLapt.me wiki. I will always post any conversations I have with any Linden there, because its pertinant to the changes and by ensuring these conversations are posted it starts to show pattens that otherwise won't be seen.

Yes Linden friends is a very real situation I can assure you of that and if I come across any I wouldn't waste a moments time outing it and thats the same for Linden Alts, if they are taking advantage of insider trading so to speak

Yeah, that's been worrying me, too. Private sims at least have more effective bans, but this could be a problem for Ursula if G-Team just lets the place run wild.

If it comes to that, we may have to make a BanLink-like shared dynamic blacklist for Ursula landowners--not a nice thought.

But I don't think we have to plan for that now; if LL wanted rid of us, there are easier ways than to set up a whole continent for G-Team to ignore. (Heh. Imagine trying to prove in court that G-Team was differentially ignoring Adult regions: talk about a signal-to-noise problem!)

And these anti-protest griefers aren't really representative of an ongoing threat, I think, but rather are drawn to the occasion in hopes of getting attention. Although "getting attention" may not be in their best interest as individuals: judging by the graphics, I'd guess they're mostly underage.

I have sent this notecard to about two dozen lindens including M, Blondin, Cyn, Catherine, Blue and Pink.

Who's sign was that anyway?
I assumed it was just some protester, protesting the protesters.
It wasn't a Linden. Was it? I did not think so.

First off it struck me as totally stupid and ignorant of the issues.

To bad everybody(of age) can't simply verify.
If it was that easy it would not really be a problem.

Then the wording coupled with the picture,
basically implying that those complaining are actually underage.
The underage will simply steal mom & dads ID or somebody else's & not care.

Finally the use of the word faggots showing total ignorance and intolerance.
Never mind the over all tone of directly insulting those protesting the changes.

However I do not think it has any real significance,
at least as far as LL policy is concerned.
A lot of people were putting up protest stuff against the change.
One ignorant idiot put that sign up against the protesters, so what!
He probably should be ARed though at least on intolerance.

The Lindens eventually cleared out everything,
a lot of people were rezzing all sorts of junk.
I do not think the one item means anything,
Unless it was LL sanctioned, which I doubt.

You are welcome to post my comments over there on Xstreet. I just can't handle some of the posters over there, so I don't want to go. I've been thrown in with the "not enough posts in Xstreet to be taken seriously crowd." Also I should mention that that shocking fence belongs to Oskar Linden. So that is why I feel the Lindens are having a laugh at our expense. He represents the Lindens does he not? Anyway... Please feel free to cross post my comment over there as well as the link to the picture, which I happened to find on the Massively post. The picture was posted by the main culprit trying to cover up the protest posters. Definitely seemed like the person was underage by actions as well as appearance in their RL photo, if it indeed was their RL. But that means nothing as they promptly told me they were already reported as under-age and had to send LL proof. And of course chimed in by Oskar that the person was verified. So... Good luck!

So this is what I'm talking about over on XstreetSL. I even posted in my original post I could NOT post Oskar's exact words because I don't have his permission. However, I have a note card of his initial comments. I missed getting a note card of the *anything goes on Adult* comment made later after he returned from his lunch break..

I read that notecard you sent with the chat log. I'm ill. Oskar's disdain and ignorance is revolting.

It was more like a Linden turning a blind eye, or overlooking because the person putting up that sign in particular was pretty buddy buddy with the Linden standing right there.

What are the rules/laws about posting a chat log from open chat? Ryanna, if it's kosher to post that notecard you gave me, it needs to be public. IM's I can see not posting but that appeared to be an open chat log.

I'm going to need that chat log posted Ryanna. Please do so. People are saying in my thread at Xstreet that they can't see the fence and they can't see any lindens and that photo of the crying child poster could have been taken anywhere.

There were a lot of people putting up a lot of crap like giant penises, you can see one in the picture & a lot of protest signs, so blind eye in general. U think you are making to much of it.

No she isn't. Giant penises in an Adult rated sim are not against the TOS. Using a photo of a real world child with hateful anti-gay slurs under it and griefing the protesters IS against the TOS.

without wanting to be too much of a wet blanket about this, I suspect that what the whole electric fence/sign thing was about isn't actually anything to do with us but with the linden test team trying to keep the rest of the LL bods out of their sim while they're running tests.

I can fully understand the overkill (pardon the pun) because IT developers are notorious for jumping into test areas, making changes that they don't bother to tell anyone about or just doing things in there that cock up the tests being run - which means the testers have to start all over again.

because LL developers (and LL as a whole) appear to have the mindset of teenagers this was probably the only way they could (jokingly) bring the offlimits to those lindens that use those sims.

In a way I feel sorry for the testers, whatever tests they were running yesterday have most likely been ruined just by all the people who managed to get access to that sim. I'll lay bets that no-one actually bothered to tell them that those bordering it were going to be opened to the great unwashed.

for those of you who never saw the sign on the land, here it is. You'll notice it says no access unless agreed by the QA team.

This is just another case of the complete lack of co-ordination and joined up thinking that's endemic over at LL.

Well see that is new information to me.

But even so, Oskar's comments (I read the log), his disdain and ignorance about who will be affected by this change and how, and the fact that he seemed indifferent to that massive, insulting griefing image is what really upsets me.

Not sure how I can respond to that. The most offensive thing to me had nothing to do with the sign, but mostly it was the tone of the Linden present. I am not sure the sign can really be placed in the same category as a giant rezzed penis, but then that is exactly what you can expect to find on the new Adult Continent I guess, because *anything goes*.

My fear in posting the note card is that I'll be banned for doing so. It was public chat. Can someone point me to where it is perfectly legal for me to post the note card?
