LL won't yank your account for discussing/advertising OpenLife, but they may delete your post and warn you for it. I suggest the "Other Grids" forum on SLU for this discussion:

supposedly you can put pg ads up on mature land and they will show in search as long as you've marked it "not mature".

I remember someone posting that they'd tested this and found that a not mature ad posted on mature land doesn't come up in pg search

can anyone point me to the ads?

Yes, this is true. I tested that with my own ads.

Set your search to PG only. Search for "Loco Pocos". One of my ads, which was set to "no mature content" won't show up with only PG checked, because it points to a parcel on mature land (the ad with the folk and tiny dances). Only my other ad, which points to the Lichtenberg Sim (PG), will show up. Then add mature to your search. Now both ads show up.

My question: Why there is a setting in the classifieds dialog asking for "mature content YES/NO" if it doesn't have any effect?

RC1 it would only show PG ads on mature land if you ticked both PG and Mature, it seemed to be working on the basis that you wanted to see PG, so tick that box and the land was mature, so tick that box.

Since RC2 was released it has been showing PG ads on mature land when only PG is ticked.

I see that ad in a PG search in both the 1.23.2RC and latest 1.23.3 Public Nightly viewers.

One thing I cannot get to work is getting payment information I've put on file for another account to appear in her profile in world. It was accepted on the web site, but she's still NPIOF in world.

Yet another master class in the art of cherry picking questions to respond to and saying nothing substantial or new.

Although I felt it a bit rich for Blondin to sugest that no Linden would respond the jira because forums is where discussion should take place - so Blondin - please tell us, why the silent treatment here too?

Yet another master class in the art of cherry picking questions to respond to and saying nothing substantial or new.

Those office hours sound like utter waste of time of everyone involved. I really hope we will see the updated definitions "within a week" (didn't he say so three weeks ago already?) because right now Blondin is just repeating himself over and over.

Then again, it appears in the end the "definitions" will boil down to the (unpublished) blacklist. Are you using a censored word in your parcel description? Your parcel is adult. Case closed.
So I would rather like to see some clear guidelines for how a word can appear on the blacklist. But of course, that's not likely to happen.

He didn't say "discussion", he said "to voice your opinions", that's a big difference :)

LOL - Silly me, good point I forgot that with Linden's in particular, on our side we need to cross every T and dot every i, split every hair and leave no scope for filling in the gaps or reading between the lines and bear in mind that a discussion as far as LL are concerned is not an exchange of opinions but rather one where they tell us what's going to happen then grant a miserly hour a week to for us to ask questions and get answers that are peppered with , 'probably' 'could be' 'thinking about' and 'don't quote me'

I disagree here as far as LL not yanking accounts. Well maybe not yanking but me and several others got suspended in the forums for a week and others slightly longer so we could not access the forums. I will add I got an apology after a few days and re instated but the fact is LL will and can suspend people for discussing OLG etc. in the forums, without warning either, so be warned :)

Cyn Linden acknowledged these problems at the secong adult definitions BB meeting:

http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Second_Adult_Definitions_meeting

when Melodie mentioned it and asked Melodie to give them the information so they could look ijnto it further, so perhaps an email to dear old Cyn may be in order :)

My recollection is that jira was a direct response to Jack Linden claiming that he had heard only five negative responses to the new policy (despite the fact that Jack was at a brown bag I attended and there were more than five of us there against the policy).

If we are fair, we could send a friendly welcome and additional a very friendly warning to these "Gold Member Solution Providers", to tell them that there are business-landmines and scam-timebombs ticking in near, not to speak about the tech troubles.

We have evidence...

But it will be more fun to wait a while, until the "Gold Member Solution Providers" learning by themselfs with which sort of company and "communicators" they deal.

Hehehe.

We are sitting then in Buddha-mode in a corner, smiling, relaxing and enjoying the show.

"Gold Member"...

Hahaha;-)

Too funny.

Sure a thing which we know well as an euphemism named: "Premium Member"...

I can't wait to see the "Gold Member Solution Providers" entering the forums one day, angry and disappointed, and maybe they open then their own kind of slapt.me wiki, or just joining Lord's/ours.

This day is somewhere at horizon and I will celebrate it with Moet & Chandon Champagne.

Experience says, it will need years until these "Gold Member Solution Providers" have really learned in which trap they are landed...

But then..., hahaha ;-)

Ah, and gold is cheap (and looks cheap). It sounds like rusty iron. It would be perfect sarcasm, to open some Platinum - or Diamond Member Groups for fun. Since we made LL rich and famous, it is the correct status we have to give to ourselfs!

Maybe these golden solution providers will tell them that being able to offer companies and educational institutions a design and build service is a lovely idea but, as has repeatedly been pointed out here, the public grid is probably not the best place to put the fruits of their creative labours.

In the meantime, folks might remember my mentioning that I'm helping develop some stuff for training providers who're worried about their trainees getting bored and using search to look for sex stuff (as tends to happen with bored employees and Google in other contexts) and tp-ing off to take a closer look rather than attending to their training.

I am working on a number of solutions to the problem, all based on what my Master can do to me with my collar and the Restrained Life Viewer. One wonders what the reaction will be if they ask where the idea comes from of a custom viewer that lets people control other peoples's avs, and why it was developed. It would be so funny if the solution to a valid concern -- people sloping off to check out sex sites on the company's time -- came from something originally designed to enhance BDSM games in-world.

thanks for the responses for the ads. it's nice to know it's sorted.

a couple of quick links that may be of interest:

the second is really interesting.. this kind of stuff is the kudos/pr glossy for LL even if it doesn't really make them bucketloads of cash.

I wonder if anyone else remembers the SL Certification experiment they launched a little over a year back to help prevent building fraud. Remember that? SL would create a list of those who could prove they were competent in building, from small projects to major ones? All they did was collect a bunch of names of those who volunteered to prove their skills, stuck them on their wiki page, and never checked further.

I have reworked the summary page:

http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Summary_of_Adult_Content_Changes

And tested some of the filtered words in French, German, and Italian, finding they are not filtered. Aside from when the spelling matches the english, I don't know of any words being filtered in other languages:

you don't seriously think they're actually going to add any of these do you?? We're talking about Americans here lol
