From: Imago Aeon http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-2727 But shouldn't they just make the new continents in to G-rated fun zones that no one who isn't "age verified" can't get out of? That would make more sense then uprooting adult merchants and shipping them off in to concentration camps. No Imago, their main goal is to clean the grid from any perverts (read: paying customers). We cry here that we go out of business, but you need to know that this is their goal. they want us out of business because we are proud to like adult content. ---- Q: If Linden don't like sex, how do they have children? A: They don't, they are all clones >> You know your slogan wich says that SL is: Our World. Our Imagination. I thought it was Your World, Your Imagination. I guess they already changed it and now the slogan is correct. it's their world and their imagination

From: Maleena Tiraxibar I am one of them people that cant get out much due to 'problems' and the internet is pretty much my life right now. SL would have been probably a big thing for me, It WOULD have been a big escape, now I see that won't be the case for me and those who will come after me if this kind of thing is allowed to go on. So to some people this really is a massive deal, to some its really unimportant I suppose, anyway I said I would step out of this whole thing, i've said my bits, all anyone can really do is wait and hope it wont be as bad as we think it will be. No all we can really do is get the word out, protest, make our voices heard. Then, if they still are bent on this destructive path, move on. Blue Mars, OpenLife, Opensim - THERE ARE OPTIONS.

http://www.law.com/jsp/legaltechnology/pubArticleLT.jsp?id=1202430301030From: someone Am Law Attorneys Setting Up Virtual Shop
By Brian Baxter The American Lawyer April 30, 2009 Post a Comment
What do Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and IP firm Banner & Witcoff all have in common?
The answer: practices dedicated to the burgeoning field of virtual law. That's according to a recent story in the San Francisco Chronicle about lawyers and their avatars. It turns out that even in the world of make-believe, clients sometimes need real-world legal advice.
While courts have heard only a few disputes originating in computer-simulated virtual worlds, the Chronicle reports that more attorneys are setting up shop in alternate realities as a means of soliciting business.
No, seriously.
The Chronicle story quotes Buchanan Ingersoll information technology litigation chair Francis Taney, Jr., who says that 20 to 30 percent of his practice is dedicated to cases that arise from virtual worlds like Second Life.
Former Perkins Coie and Kirkland & Ellis IP litigation associate Benjamin Duranske joined Pillsbury Winthrop in December after serving as a consultant to a virtual law firm and running his own virtual law blog called Virtually Blind. Duranske, who is helping Pillsbury Winthrop build its own virtual worlds and video games practice, has even penned a book on the topic.
As one might expect, much of the legal work in virtual worlds is IP specific. As such, Banner & Witcoff established its own virtual law presence through advertisements, which the Chronicle reports helped the firm land one of the most high-profile virtual law cases. (Banner & Witcoff's clients later received compensation after the case was settled out of court.)
But while some lawyers are touting additional services from mediation to divorce law to cater to litigious avatars, others like Durankse choose to remain above the fray.
The Chronicle reports that Duranske doesn't practice on Second Life because the virtual world's creator, San Francisco-based Linden Lab, has access to conversations among members that would compromise attorney-client privilege.
The company itself encourages users to avoid litigation, if possible.
"Residents who find themselves in a disagreement with another resident are encouraged to resolve it directly as they would in any other context -- online or offline," wrote Linden general counsel Martin Roberts in an e-mail to the Chronicle.
Quite frankly we find the whole Second Life and virtual worlds thing a bit creepy, but we thought the same of Twitter and look how that turned out.

From: Tcko Cazalet 1. So, if I own almost a full sim now, I will be given the option of taking the land thats left in the sim after you move me?...to save you the hassle of breaking it up. should I add my request in the ticket?
Add the request to the ticket. From: Tcko Cazalet 2. At what cost per sqm since SL will be selling the land? I don't know From: Tcko Cazalet Currently I own 55246 sqm in two parcels separated by maintenence road...both with adult content, impossible to join. 3. Can you give us a close time frame to when SL will open up tickets for the move? At least a month, month and a half. We've been listening and have realized just how hard this move is going to be. We're trying to come up with solutions / alternatives to the idea of 'Pick up your Prims and Move'. The tickets will be created when we know exactly how this process will work. From: Tcko Cazalet 4. Should I give landmarks in the ticket to the parts in my sim that are adult? because the ground level is mostly nature themed. You should include any information that you think is important.

Look at them, after 20 000 negative posts, almost 1000 votes on jira. they still ignore all the residents and proceed with this crap. Do any on this forum think that this is the total ignorance?

From: Darien Caldwell I even have some people wanting to have weddings there. This May I'll be shutting down for a day to hold a wedding there. I'm quite excited about that. Might want to cover up a few things first ... Granny might look at the wedding pictures and have a heart attack.

This stuff is seriously beginning to sound like a Humpty Dumpty story. Oh wait! Is Humpty and/or Dumpty allowed or has the executives of Linden Lab decided to commence banning that sort of material too?
Did LL get sold to North Korea or something?

From: Valerius Constantine So the forums *will* be closing? NO venue to complain to LL about the restriction of Biblical terms and the like? This particular thread will be closing at the end of the day but another one will pop up in a week or so. We're still tweaking the Defs (ie, photorealistic / PG) so when we get another draft posted, we'll open up another thread. From: Valerius Constantine As it stands *church ladies* will be AR'd for using "adult language" on "mature" land. you'll have to set all the *churches* up on *Ursula!* Actually speaking 'adult terms' isn't filtered. Church Lady can give all the fire and brimstone sermons she wants to.

Did LL get sold to North Korea or something? "All the King's Horses and All The Kings Men......" Sounds like bestiality to me.

I hesitate to do this because I don't want to seem like I am promoting my own commercial interests as others have done, but I wanted to extend an invitation to any business owners who feel trapped or forced to move to Ursula.
We have a large not-for-profit island sim with several parcels for growing D/s lifestyle businesses. We are home to Open Collar HQ as well as several business that have grown and prospered through having a presence here.
Like I say, I don't want to use this forum as a platform to discuss my own interests, but if anyone is seeking to rent a new home for their business, at reasonable rates with parcel permissions, and escape the pogram, please drop me a NC inworld and I will get back to you on Monday.
Maybe if there are other people who can offer something similar it would help people from having to move to the ghetto and keep our lifestyle active in other regions too. Is there somewhere more appropriate than this board where such places of refuge could be advertised?

From: Ceera Murakami Well, something POSITIVE to add to this:
I just looked at the 1.23.0 RC Client, and ran a few quick tests.
Set my maturity rating to Adult in Preferences. (I'm Payment info Used and Aristotle verified).
Set search preferences to show all types of content. It defaults to PG, but the PG, Mature and Adult checkboxes, by search tab type, are independantly selectable.
With Adult checked, can still search for and find terms like "BDSM". With Adult not checked, can't search for those "banned words", and get a vague error indicating the search terms are inappropriate, as explained in the Community standards.
Given that BDSM got thousands of hits with Adult checked, it apperently is including individual parcels that are flagged as Adult, and not just sims flagged that way. Couldn't possibly be that many sims already flagged adult and with adult content already on them.
SO...
If I want to search ONLY for Adult-labeled region (or parcel), I can check ONLY the adult checkbox, and be relatively assured my naked slave and I won't TP into a PG-rated sim and store that happens to sell a few racy items.
If I am wanting a more comprehensive search, and am dressed appropriately for a PG sim, I can check all the boxes, and search all, even for "racy" terms.
But if I uncheck "adult" I can't search for the "dirty words" and get an error indication that implies this is NEVER allowable, not that it is only not allowed at the lower maturity rating.
This last is still a problem. It should instead indicate that my search included terms that require an "Adult" rating. Thanks for the update Ceera
