No, not at all like that.

This is a huge mess of a change, and LL really need to get their documentation act sorted out, in my opinion. They need to do it soon, to give us another crack at it, and then they MUST let the SL world at large know - with a login screen message. All that needs to be done well in advance of the June deadline that they have set.

However to equate this with child labor camps I find kind of insulting. Comparing it to fascism and all the other Godwined things I find tasteless and trivialising of the historical comparisons.

Why people can't discuss stuff without having to resort to crap like this I will never understand.

Betrayal of trust is betrayal of trust. The only difference is in degree. So while getting shafted by LL is NOT at the same level as getting sold away by your parents, it has a kinship with any event that transpires where one person who trusts another has that trust broken.

Based on History with LL they do not tend to do this until after the fact. The longer you are here the more cynical you tend to become :)

From Jack Linden's Office Hour today:

From: someone
[12:00] Jack Linden: Tal, the number of people who have told me they are very upset about this is less than 10 (and I get a huge number of IMs). If this is as unpopular as you think then it's not reflected in the support calls, tickets, etc. We know that for some people this isn't a popular move, but that doesn't mean everyone
[12:01] Jack Linden: I do read the forums, I was talking about the direct IMs I get. As i said, I know some people are unhappy about it but that doesn't mean everyone is

There you have it, folks!

If you haven't IMed Jack Linden about it, then you don't count as "very upset about this".

Never mind if you didn't even know who Jack Linden is, or knew that he was even remotely interested in hearing about how upset you are.

So, here's everyone's chance. Presuming that the only way they sit up and take notice is direct, personal communication, go ahead and send Jack (and Blondin, Cyn, M, and any other Linden who has posted in these threads) an IM today expressing your heartfelt opinion on the subject.

Speaking of Jack's office hour
04-30-2009 12:22
From: Jack during office hour
[11:17] Jack Linden: Elanthius, for those eligible for the free move period, if they want to sell their parcel at that time rather than hand it to us then we're fine with that, or they can hand it to us by abandoning it
[11:18] Jack Linden: If they want to keep their existing plot, but clean the content, then that would be okay too
So...

There is now a shell wiki page to post unfiltered links:

http://www.slapt.me/wiki/index.php/Unfiltered_Second_Life_Links

If there are missing categories especially, add them, or tell me to add them.

You can put your own entries in there also

So if you want to try and make some additional L$ by selling your mature land after you've moved to ursula, feel free.

I'd bet you'll have to pay full tier while you're selling it, though.

Or you know their IMs will be capped so do not just IM them out of the blue. :(

You want to make a real statement? A measurable, visible show of support?

With the expected demise of bot traffic as of tomorrow the 'online now' count should be more reflective (I didn't say accurate) of actual online numbers.

Call a boycott day. Pick a day - a Linden day - and ask people to not log in. Take a day off.

Support would be anonymous and highly visible. You could watch from the web page counter the effectiveness. Just resist that urge to log in.

Just a thought. I counted Scarlet Letters today and could only find 24. Properly coordinated though a boycott day could be huge, or not.

You could hang out in the forum all day just like in the old days before all this fancy graphics stuff came along. 300 baud ring any bells?

The xsl forum is once more buzzing with its little drama. It seems the flickr group has upset one of the members and much hysteria is ensuing.

https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=104799&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

What I find funniest is that I bought land off this guy for my main store only a couple of months ago and when I fired up my land buying girl to make the purchase he hit on me because he though she looked like a submissive, which got him going.. (she was wearing a Blaze evening dress I'll have you know).

but of course there's his taste and those filthy pornographers....

I am talking to Jack Linden right now.

wups. I clipped the posted IM. I'm sorry. I didn't think to ask first, Jack. Just wanted people to know that you didn't mean what you said the way it sounded.

Jack basically said he didn't mean that only 10 people had IMed him so what was the big deal.
