Well, it looks like the 1.23 release candidate has so many issues... even unrelated to the adult content changes... that it will almost certainly have a high resistance from users and a low adoption rate.

I'm planning on waiting for 1.24, myself.

You won't get anything resembling an intelligent response... at the office hours yesterday, I got this as the 'final' word...

- a BDSM shop is NOT ADULT, it's MATURE.
- but BDSM, Submissive, Slave, Dominatrix, Domme are all ADULT FILTER WORDS
- so you can SELL BDSM stuff, but you can't use the words that describe it
- and if you DO use the words, the parcel MUST be ADULT, even if the goods are MATURE.

In other words, the BDSM community (and by extension the Gorean community) are the targets of a deliberate attempt to be run out of SL and being set up for AR traps. There is another word.. 'discrimination'. Start trying to figure out new words to describe us, cause we're boned. With Malice. There is no other explanation for such a idiotic and transparent set of 'decisions' as that.

I asked what about if someone wanted to stage a production in-world of "Of Human Bondage" .. oh that's mature!

Can't have the word Slave in the description of your place but can have it in your personal description and OOOO as the avitar name. Very wishy washy is that. So a mature apartment block is going to last how long???

I still think they have it backwards. Open new continent for PG only and make it the landing point for new users. Any store want to move there as there be no shoppers and OOO oh so fast are free to do so.

Looking at the economics...... I wouldn't want to be on a PG sim if I was selling stuff. Limits what I can sell and competition can make my life hell with false reports. I figure that most people will be on private and Adult sims as that is where there is no danger of false AR reports, Harassment by overly well meaning folk and the value of PG / mature land will drop dramatically versus Adult land.

Good news is that there will be fewer bots on adult land. Have to get them verified. But as smart US folk put scans of their ID's on the web and are searchable in google images and Elvis's is still alive and his Drivers Licence is accepted by the verification system it is not too hard to get the bots verified. Just time consuming.

Jamie I hate to tell you this, but you've come late to the party. All of this has been mentioned before. We've been ignored. I'm just waiting to see how badly they bone us without lube. I personally think the plan is to force people out through conflicting information, and then to get the rest onto the adult continent and hit the delete button.

Ah but you have made on fatal mistake in your reasoning - you used logic.
This isn't the way this is being done, and trying to use logic will lead you down roads of conflicting messages. Go back and read what Blondin Linden has written - if you have a house with a sexbed and as long as you are not advertising adult-rated products for sale or events, you will be able to stay on "Mature" land.

I understand that this is your opinion, but unfortunately that doesn't count much, as do the opinions of everyone on here whose name doesn't end with "Linden"....

Yup, private islands still have issues - ok, so they don't have to move to the adult continent but they will still have the issue that if a sim is marked "Adult" then no PG or Mature-rated businesses are going to have their ads show up in non-Adult search, so they are going to have to make a decision and relocate a whole bunch of stuff anyway. Otherwise it's going to be a major hit to the PG and Mature-rated business' visibility.

If the sim is left at "Mature" then any attempts to advertise events or products with Adult ratings are going to get flagged.

Also, any attempts to advertise events or products with Mature or PG ratings are going to get flagged, if you use any words to describe them that are deemed "adult" by the word filter (which is not public and "very flexible", i.e. can change all the time), even if you use those words in a completely Mature or PG context.

Meaning, any mature or PG event or product can become invisible to search from one day to the next, probably without any notification (that's one of the unanswered questions ...).

I've got the Jira up, Couldbe Yue and Miro Collas' combined information about all that's going on. There's a thread about mature content and banned words. All of them are heating up. Feel free to contribute and keep them from sinking. More new people are seeing this information.

This is a huge mess of a change, and LL really need to get their documentation act sorted out, in my opinion. They need to do it soon, to give us another crack at it, and then they MUST let the SL world at large know - with a login screen message. All that needs to be done well in advance of the June deadline that they have set.

However to equate this with child labor camps I find kind of insulting. Comparing it to fascism and all the other Godwined things I find tasteless and trivialising of the historical comparisons.

Why people can't discuss stuff without having to resort to crap like this I will never understand.
