From: Valerius Constantine I thought that we were only talking about the worst of the worst, Blondin. Since when is "overtly sexual" considered on the same level with "crunchy decapitations"? This just made me realize where the scale may be. I am a relatively normal girl who enjoys pole-dancing for the visual entertainment of my audience; if they tip well, I reward them with more to see. I have never, nor ever will, get down and do the nasty with them. I have never worked as an escort before, and am not about to start now. Yet despite this, I am being placed in the same category with people who decapitate people and pleasure themselves in the newly-created openings, or roast naked women on a spit over a roaring flame. On a scale of 0 to 100, with the puritans at zero and the decapitating necrophiliacs and vorarephiliacs at 100, I don't think I rate much higher than 20 on the kink-meter. This means, to me, that the bar is being placed awfully low, where the upper 80th percentile of kinkiness is getting banished to Pornadelphia.

mommy and SL
03-28-2009 16:37
From: Argent Stonecutter If mommy doesn't want her little girl using her computer, mommy needs to log out when she's not using it.
Putting the SL password into the Apple keychain on the Mac would be a nice improvement, though. I don't know if there's an equivalent encrypted password store on Windows. More to the point, If Mommy doesn't want her little girl using her computer, them mommy needs to *supervise* her little girl, and take an interest in what her little girl does for fun. *We are not responsible for raising mommy's little girl. Mommy is. -V-

That or http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-599, seems pretty good to me. I like the idea of just not sending object data to users from the server if they don't have access. That would be good for even public places that are open to everyone, you ban someone from access to the club, then they can't even see who or what is inside! Perfect! Ofcourse LL will never do that, because it requires programming. Which costs money. Selling land to people though doesn't require programming. It makes money. Which will LL do?.. well dur..

From: Jennnnna Jameson I just Age Verified. I don't understand it. How does anyone know? It's not even in my profile? The current system is definitely strange. You can see your own on the web site, but it's hidden from your public profile, but the sim can see it (well, sometimes it can see; the system currently in place is chronically broken, and verified avatars are still often blocked from verified-only areas). When everything is working, if you go into a piece of land that's marked to only allow verified accounts, it will let you in and not show a ban line, and that's the only way others can tell, because you got in there. But even then others can't really be sure, because you might have been granted access to to that land with one of the other flags. I hope that this new combined adult flag works better than the old verification flag, or it's going to get ugly out there.

horrified
03-28-2009 16:43
From: Deltango Vale Excellent point. The Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese/Brazilian, Japanese and Swedish communities might be horrified to discover that their fate is being decided by Anglo-Saxons in an obscure blog. Fortunately, the Anglo-Saxons are putting up a good fight on their behalf. Would they be *less* horrified to discover that the policy was already set, and that LL is only giving english speakers a chance to vent about it before they force it down *everyone's* collective throat? This isn't deciding *anyone's* fate. this is just part of the noise that we're making to try to stop it (at least, *most* of us seem to be)and convince LL that it's a mistake, and suggest ways to better achieve their goals. -V-

This is the most busiest thread I've ever posted on, EVER. I posted a comment then, and when the page loaded showing it, I already had someone else under me. When did this turn into an SL group chat? XD
But really. I think if LL was gonna listen to us, they would already. How many solutions have we offered?
Parcel Cloaking? PG Continent? Rating system? ...
Really, we've given heaps of great answers, and I'm sure LL hasn't heard a single one of them. The Linden's who have heard them, have ignored them completely and just responded with, "We believe we're doing this the best way possible", and discounted everything we've said completely.

From: Kalderi Tomsen I look at it a different way - they aren't moving PEOPLE they are moving BUSINESSES. That's the question, isn't it? What's a people, and what's a business? What's a residence or a personal space, and what's a business or a public space? That's what I'm here for, and we've been asking that question since the announcement.

From: Lord Sullivan and you forgot to add you have a long waiting list of folks wanting to rent at your Mall as its a busy Mall. Just wanted to add that as u forgot Yeah and that too! Meanwhile in NanyLand....a deserted sim used for pixel horse riding. I would have thought having RL horse riding lessons would be cheaper than 295 USD a month!

great comments

From: Rin Tae
And second .. I am active in Role Playing places. Not those using combat meters or those that only call themselves RP sims, but in fact are cheep combat sims of all different sorts. So in those sims everything is done by text. By colaborative story telling ... and some of those stories are very much adult .. others are not, but what is hard to find there are scripts, sexbeds .. the usual BDSM equipment. All is beeing descripbed and written ... so will now also chat be monitored for adult content? After all, everyone entering such sims gets a notcard describing everything that can be seen or heared there including a notice that states, that if somoene don't like it, they should leave.
So is there is the possibility of adult themed RP stories written together by all the participants .. will those places also be affected by this policy change? .. and how? ... And how would it be possible to monitor such activites or prevent people from hearing 'inapropirate' things?
I am starting to think about bad-word filters in everyones chat engine ... and IMs ... but I think, that this is just a orwllian exageration. Is it?
----
On the other side ... if LL want to boost buisness and the overall economics then implement asset and investment security! I am sure, that once people are sure, that the money they put into SL and their effort is secure, they will invest more!
That is something that the LL should put their effort into!
Help SL and not censor it!
I enjoyed reading your post. Bt

Age verification documents.

I am not prepared to entrust my Passport, Driver's License, or National Insurance details to ANY website. What does this mean for my future in SL?
The proposed changes strike me as unneccessary and unworkable. It is at present extremely easy to avoid adult content in SL if you so wish.

From: NDN Andel Why shouldn't people have the right to grief anyone they want? Where is the freedom? Ever hear the expression, "your right to swing your fist ends at the tip of my nose"?

Oh and if anyone is interested. It seems a few people actually voted on the polls on my test webpage I made. It's useless, but here is the results if anyone is interested:
Public Nudity should be rated as: Adult: 0% (0 Votes) Mature: 100% (11 Votes)
Public nudity for non-human avatars (eg: furries) should be rated as: Adult: 0% (0 Votes) Mature: 100% (11 Votes)
Public text based role playing of sexual scenes (even with no visuals at all and between 2 clothed avatars) should be rated as: Adult: 20% (2 Votes) Mature: 80% (8 Votes)
I wouldn't mind throwing together a bigger page with more questions. Would be interesting to see what gets voted as adult and what's voted as mature, even if people like Nany voted in it, it would be interesting to see what the population of SL consider Adult and Mature. What pushes and boundaries and what doesnt.

How do you get URLs to display properly? Whenever I post a URL, I get the following instead of an active link: http://www.sl-newspaper.com/mains.htm

From: Katheryne Helendale Nany? Is that you? Would you please care to elaborate? I'd venture to say that the anti- "sex industry" people have done far more damage in this forum than what any group of reasonable people who don't want to see freedom curtailed in this manner could ever do. Yes, I forgot I was logged in as Beverly to do some cash transfer when I popped over to see if the Lindens had posted anything.

OK! I'll admit it! Fine!...
.. I did once, AND I MEAN ONCE! ... go out into a PG sim wearing bondage gear..
Yes, ok, sorry!! I was tired, it was 3am! I had to go out to pay sim tier (I pay through a company, they have their own little atm-ish terminal for paying). I thought, "Only takes a minute, and there is never anyone there", so I just TPed out wearing a full body bondage outfit. Head, eyes, mouth, arms, legs, everything was covered in latex and cuffs, steel, blindfolds, gags, etc etc..
When I got there.. there was a group of 20 people waiting.. apparently 20 people decided to go pay tier at exactly the same time as me.
.. whoops.. .. Really! It was an accident! I'm sorry to all who were so badly affected by this tragic event! I'm sorry you had to see me for a full 60seconds while I went out in public in such a state. But is the occasional mistake like that really that bad?! D:
EDIT: No one even ARed me! It just got a giggle from a few people, and a nonenglish speaking woman next to me just couldn't stop shouting "pain!", but that was it.

From: Rene Erlanger Lol- shows you that you're are extremely ignorant, and people should either mute you for being "educationally sub-normal" or simply ignore you. For the record, the Mall i have on Mainland has been there since 3.25 years (Jan 06)....and has never ever used Campers ever...not a single one! If your mundane sim(s) can ever reach its 3rd year...i would be extremely surprised....meanwhile enjoy feeding LL coffers with equivilant mortgage type payments- rofl Who was that playing the guitar with the "I made L$10" over his head? I think there is a pretty good chance we will help building a Smithsonian virtual museum here within the next three years. Looking forward to it.

From: Robert Graf A large percentage of the SL User base is unaware of the upcoming Adult Content changes. In the last week I have received 2 LL surveys on how my user experience is when logging in. Its obvious they could be doing the same with a message about the changes with a link to this forum. This will affect everyone. Mainland or Private Estates. Paid or Free Accounts. Landowners/Non-landowners. Interesting that they choose not to inform everyone so more voices can be heard and that everyone understands just exactly what is coming down the road. They are too afraid....they know somewhere between 80-90% of its customer base would tell them where to stick there proposed changes. It's a shame that the "Bible belt" is trying to determine users from all around the world, (some of which come from more liberal countries) in what this platform should contain. However, it takes two to tango......and LL are equally at fault for even entertaining this idea. LL cares only about 2 things.....money...and good PR in the media.
