It is about sanitizing SL. LL hopes that separating content will appeal to schools and businesses where the random nakedness would be an issue otherwise. From the looks of the forums lately, its instead bringing out the church ladies and their "protect us from ourselves." (Thought police).

Until there is actual content, there should not be any restrictions. Has anybody talked to the guy in the giant penis outfit? Or were the church ladies just focused on the easy target to pile on? It was the opening of new land. Not the opening of new content on that land.

The Church Ladies were always here. These are not the first complaints about child avatars and appropriate behavior in Second Life over years. But this time the voices are louder - and with this distinction of Adult and PG now - the voices will be getting louder every time a Child Avatar person steps over the line. Minx, I think that the argument that you and others are making is a reasonable one, even if I disagree with it.

HOWEVER, where I come from, we have a term for THIS sort of response: it's called "blaming the victim." Should Mari have been in Zindra? I don't know, really. Should she have left the moment the giant penis arrived? Maybe. But what is absolutely clear to me is that if she erred, it was with mistakes of omission, rather than commission. And they were mistakes, not "stunts."

There is no essential difference between your argument, and the response to the rape victim that suggests that she was "asking for it" for it because she was wearing provocative clothing, or went to the "wrong part of town," or dared stay out past midnight. The victim may have been unwise, even foolish, but to argue that she "brought it on herself" is to transfer the guilt from the victimizer to the victim. NO one "deserves" to be harassed. No one.
