From: Lexxi Gynoid How long did you give it to rez? I had to have the map sit there open for a half hour for "everything" to rez and it still is somewhat blurry in spots. There is even still one or two grey sim(s) in my picture. I've had the same experience. I wonder what changed?

I haven't seen this posted here yet, forgive me if I missed it:
In the Market there is now a small snow globe like object sitting on one of the crates on the North side, its for sale and has tons of ancient pots, lights, trees, and lamps, all full perms. Free of course.
Still none of those beautiful crystals though. I really want some of them! LOL
Just thought I'd share! Take care, Handy Skytower

Anyone know if the Harbour Pier/Plank textures are included in any of the free marketplace texture sets? I just had a look and didn't see them.

Then again, I might think slightly differently if it was a wonderful re-creation of Edo period Japan. Whatever floats your boat...

I think it's beautiful, but I really dun have a desire to buy and build there. Now if there was a 30s-60 American city with art deco influence, then I'd be so there. Oh, wait...

From: Handy Skytower I thought I saw all those in the big architectural package? Handy No, that pack doesn;t have the house textures. They added those later in some stone jugs in the marketplace. But, as Arcane said, not quite all of the textures used in the houses are there. For me, there were enough to do the mods I wanted and keep the house looking nice. I changed the first floor ceilings and all the floors to other textures from the original texture packs, and it came out fine. If anyone wants too drop in and see my place (and the mods I've made so far) feel free to drop in http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nautilus%20-%20Shalim/9/197/24 It is still a work in progress, and I have textures to tweak and some prims yet to be aligned though. Oh, and thanks for the auction data, Jean.

The auction prices are really interesting, especially given that many regions appear to be selling almost entirely to land resellers at this point. I have to wonder...if they are bidding against one another for the right to sell the land, what pool of end users do they believe will pay more than they did (the people they out bid at the auctions) to buy the parcels from them? I feared/assumed this was how the auctions would go, but I still don't understand the strategy, especially given the numbers of parcels going this way. Whole sims up for sale at prices above what people would pay at auction, and no anchor of end users in the sim who show an interest in keeping it nice? I'll be interested to see what the new tactic of high rise buildings to block the view from the Citadel parcels (fly to the areas North of the Citadel to see it in action) do to auction prices in that area. I have to say, I expected prices to drop off a bit as the auctions progressed, but the average seems to be holding if not increasing from the price I paid in the second round on Sunday.

Looks to me like the sharks are feeding on each other.
Different speculators competing with each other, driving the prices to insane levels, and expecting someone will eventually be even crazier than they are and pay even worse prices just to get a silly 1024 M2 parcel in a once-beautiful area that they have trashed beyond recognition?
Over L$98 per M2 for some of these parcels? When the average cost per M2 over the last month on all land sales is a piddling L$1.7? What sort of drugs are they on, anyway?

I would suggest these speculators try a little exercise: 1. click the Map Button, and make sure it is set up to show for sale land 2. Type "Bay City" into the search field, and click "search." 3. Take a look at how many overpriced plots still show up in yellow (I'd do it, but I can't get onto SL right at th' moment. If anyone else can an woudl like t'illustrate, please be my guest) Many folks did not think their cunnin plan through in Bay City, an a lot of land is still sittin' empty there. By now, I'd hope to see a big city all over there. Meanwhile, they paid hundreds for land that they have to price higher than the market can bear in order to get any return on their dollars. *This* is what they risk doin' in Nautilus.

That is pretty much what I see happening too. I have to say, on the topic of price, I didn't buy comparing what I was willing to bid to the base. I thought of it more along the lines of what would I pay for a mainland 2048 (since it's double prims) for a protected water view, buffered on 3 of 4 other sides with access to multiple open sims of water adjacent, preferably in the direction of my view, for swimming, boating and flying. That was the type of parcel I was looking for if I was going to buy. I couldn't find anything like that elsewhere on the mainland. Also, I loved the theme, even if I knew that all the resident builds that went up there wouldn't adhere to it.

From: Nimue Jewell I'll be interested to see what the new tactic of high rises buildings to block the view from the Citadel parcels (fly to the areas North of the Citadel to see it in action) do to auction prices in that area. Good points Nimue, especially on this one. I would be very interested in some of the initial Bay City property owners' reaction. The same for Nautilus property owners and responsible Nautilus land developers - large land owners who will rent or sell their parcels but who are working to keep their property in-theme. Nimue, it looks like there are 5 parcels in Magon now that fit the super-highrise, non-theme category. Four are owned by one person and three of these are for sale. One is owned by another person. I wonder if this is their newest sales tactic since there really is only so much you can do with a 1024 parcel and 468 prims. I have absolutely no issue with profit. I also have absolutely no issue with improving the land, holding it until it can be sold or rented at a profit. That said, should these three parcels sell for the posted value (and yes, I know that probably will not happen), but if it did, the owner would generate L$99,400 profit on these three parcels. Two of the parcels are very inflated. The third is more reasonable. The owner with four of the five parcels has sunk non-tier costs of roughly L$333,610 or somewhere in the neighborhood of US$1,265. While I would not pay the amount the second owner has posted, he at least is being more reasonable in his profit expectations than the one with three parcels for sale. Is this a sales tactic used elsewhere in the mainland? How successful has it been?

And, in fairness to tall building owner/resellers, I can't be sure the aim of all of them is to block the view, as I am pretty certain one of the owners in Magon owns two other plots on Nautilus that have the same super tall build on them. Those parcels are on flat land, and far from the Citadel. That may simply be his vision of "improved" property for resale.

I think this happened in BC too. Without closely inspecting it looks like some of the same people. Nothing wrong with turning a profit. =) And I do see the draw and excitement of bidding. It reminds me of when all mainland was worth something.
With any luck, just as in parts of Bay City, people who enjoy the theme and will contribute to it will pony up and buy some parcels.
Sadly some, just as in Bay City, will be overpriced and will sit yellow. Unfortunately This yellow time is easily extended as the tier is minimal.
