From: Jean Swashbuckler Good points Nimue, especially on this one. I would be very interested in some of the initial Bay City property owners' reaction. The same for Nautilus property owners and responsible Nautilus land developers - large land owners who will rent or sell their parcels but who are working to keep their property in-theme.
Nimue, it looks like there are 5 parcels in Magon now that fit the super-highrise, non-theme category. Four are owned by one person and three of these are for sale. One is owned by another person. Sounds a lot like a certain pair of plots along the far western end of Route 66 From: Alisha Matova With any luck, just as in parts of Bay City, people who enjoy the theme and will contribute to it will pony up and buy some parcels.
Sadly some, just as in Bay City, will be overpriced and will sit yellow. Unfortunately This yellow time is easily extended as the tier is minimal. I'm glad to be part of the former group, and am looking forward to see Bay City style "urban renewal."

From: Nimue Jewell And, in fairness to tall building owner/resellers, I can't be sure the aim of all of them is to block the view, as I am pretty certain one of the owners in Magon owns two other plots on Nautilus that have the same super tall build on them. Those parcels are on flat land, and far from the Citadel. That may simply be his vision of "improved" property for resale. They are hideous.

More Freebies
10-30-2008 13:54
So far Nautilus has provided the best freebies ever Now there is a new box in the Market with Water Rings, Spire Streamers, Dolphins, and CRYSTALS Yay! Plus three nicely laid out rows of Jars, from small to large, all purchasable for free. I also noticed that the large red Jars with houses in them are gone, so maybe these freebies are limited time only! (edit: Okay I'm a little silly, I turned around and the red jars were there I was just looking in the wrong direction! LOL) Just keeping you posted. Handy

Completely agree. The plans for Halloween alone are wildly exciting to be a part of, not to mention some of the things coming. =)

From: Marianne McCann By far! I wanna dive right into some of the next things, ya know? Hi Marianne, first, thanks for starting this thread. It's been a great place for some of us to get a handle on what is happening in Nautilus and for several of us to meet initially. What advice would you and others in Bay City give to those of us who now have a place in Nautilus? How can we begin to build the kind of community spirit found in Bay City?

Yuk, I just looked at the tower farm over by the Citadel. They are using Megaprims on the mainland, doing builds completely at odds with the area theme, and asking L$130,000 or so per parcel. If that isn't land extortion, I don't know what is. Start the abuse reports rolling, folks...

Since no one answered I will give it a shot, though others are far more qualified. I would first suggest starting a fun group and invite as many Nautilus residents as you can find. Pick a fun name that is unmistakable "Nautilus"...maybe even something that relates to the back-story. Use this group to organize meetings, events and to encourage each other. Bay City is luck enough to have some wonderful citizens(unsure about names here) who have started Blogs and fori ((even donate land for info centers)) to keep us up to date on things. Really I think it only takes a few people excited about the space and the community will surround the excitement. Hope that helps and someone can expand on this. And thank you for posting the auction prices, as I have not been able to keep up. Alisha

Alisha, one step ahead of you... Nautilus City Council was formed yesterday. Most if not all current Nautilus City owners have been invited into the group. Let's see what can be done with this group...

Very nice work, looks great! So far I'm just building a copy of Nautilus House 1A with modifications along the way. Things like raising the ceilings, lowering the prim count (geez, some of them are not even visible) and making minor changes. Once I'm done I'm going to start with the big mods I just wish I had land in Nautilus to put it on *sigh*

Hi Alisha, thanks so much for adding your thoughts. They provided something "concrete" to get the process started. I personally, liked the approach to organizing something fun. NP on the auction prices. I learn something new each day with them and thought I would share with others who might be interested. Thanks again for the quick response.

I love the freebies! /me loves free stuff!
Hehe, did y'all see the protest lot that is set up right outside the free market by a former adfarmer and current openspace price protester? It's quite lovely. No one can do it quite as over the top as the ex-adfarmers.

I noticed tonight she replaced the bloody Jack Linden being stabbed to death build with a sculpted "OS owner" scratched, bloodied, and nailed to a cross. From: Arcane Clawtooth Very nice work, looks great! Thanks.

From: Nimue Jewell The auction prices are really interesting, especially given that many regions appear to be selling almost entirely to land resellers at this point. I have to wonder...if they are bidding against one another for the right to sell the land, what pool of end users do they believe will pay more than they did (the people they out bid at the auctions) to buy the parcels from them? A very cogent analysis---I suspect these people really haven't thought it through as clearly as you've done here. (I did buy [at auction!] a parcel today, paying more than I'd wanted to. But...I've got some ideas I'd like to try out, and my birthday occurred recently, and I just decided to treat myself. (Though I'm in the land business myself, in a small way, I never considered paying USD250 or more [for even a double-primmed 1024] in the hopes of selling it for more. Doesn't seem prudent to me. But...I wish them all well....)

Now there is a new box in the Market with Water Rings, Spire Streamers, Dolphins, and CRYSTALS Yay!
Where are there dolphins? I only got an "old fasioned" (spheres only) dolphin statue. The other stuff though is great, I got one of everything XD I need to go back and explore more though. It's pretty nice now, but still a little too "human style" for my taste, and the purchased plots already have out of theme stuff on them that I don't like. By "human style", by the way, I mean builds that look like Ken and Barbie's Dreamhouse. Things that aren't particularly unusual or interesting beyond being virtual. The builds that I like to see are surreal, fantasy, sci fi, just plain weird...things you won't see walking down the street in RL. That's one reason why I don't like the mainland, it's mostly ordinary (if large/fancy) houses. No forests, mountains, caves, fantasy landscapes, or anything beyond "suburban". I guess I'm just not satisfied with going a little bit beyond RL, I have to leave it behind entirely

I only got an "old fasioned" (spheres only) dolphin statue. I believe those are the only dolphins. They used multi-prim dolphins when decorating the temples (then made them available in the freebie boxes) rather than sculpted ones.

What's happening on Nautilus Adherbal?
10-30-2008 21:15
Adherbal is on the north shore of Nautilus and makes for an interesting review tonight.
There were 26 parcels sold at auction in Adhebal from October 26 - 28.
Tonight, 18 of those 26 parcels are for sale, or 69% of the sim's parcels. The 18 parcels were originally purchased for L$1,504,291 and the current listed amount is L$2,295,899. What's fascinating and goes to something several of you have noted about Bay City's auctions...one person/group has 9 of the 18 parcels for sale. This amounts to sunk cost of L$735,151 for these 9 parcels in this one Nautilus sim. Another person/group has 5 of the 18 for sale. A third person has two parcels and two other people have one parcel each for sale.
