http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/10/20/new-city-area-discovered/Looks like Nautilus (Nautilus II: Electric Boogaloo?) is upon us. A large land mass, beautifully decorated by the moles, and soon to be sold by LL. The sights as beautiful: (Thankoo f'r th' tip on that last spot, Argos!) So who is thinking about land there after seeing the place? Who thinks it's crazy for LL to put this out with so much land begging to be bought? Also heck, why are there two Nautilus continents (Nautilii?) now - or are they one, sorta? What's everybuggy's thoughts on th' place? F'r me personally... it's beautiful. It has so much to explore, so much "depth" to it. It sorta reminds me of the Heterocera Atoll more than any other continent. At th' same time, I'm not interested in land here like I was with Bay City. I'm at th' top of a tier level, and the theme dun excite me like Bay Cities did (such as that seems to havbe worked out). Thoughts?

Thanks for the pics Mari.
I'm heading over there tonight or tomorrow to check it out.
I heard about how the Bay City auctions went. Will people be paying that much for these parcels too? Yikes!

Does anyone else want to form a posse to hunt Philip down and give him a makeover?

I've been through a lot of it. There is a great deal of detail hidden away under the sea. It's full of tiny quirks - little bits of detail scattered around.
The sheer scale of the central canal does not hit until you fly in company along it. I loved knocking on the huge doors. I haz da powah! Look for a secret passage from the temple to the canal pool. There are freebies in the temple too. The whole underwater bit is what I had hoped for in the Korean channel. Speaking of 'underwater', I noticed that the seabed had been redone in many ocean sims. Gone are the flat boring expanses.
It remains to be seen how the ancient civilisation theme will stand up to eclectic tastes.
This time around, it might be that the zoning will be better controlled than in Bay City. The parcels come pre-built and maybe covenanted to stay that way?

From: Jerboa Haystack I heard about how the Bay City auctions went. Will people be paying that much for these parcels too? Yikes! I sure hope not. That rampant speculation is what Bay CIty is still trying to recover from. From: Sling Trebuchet This time around, it might be that the zoning will be better controlled than in Bay City. The parcels come pre-built and maybe covenanted to stay that way? Me too, and yes, I hope those houses in the citidel as a covenanted part of the deal. I know it has a lot of the same restrictions and pluses of Bay City: douple prims, no join divide, no terraforming. I did not see a covenant on the land at all, though. It could be great. It coudl also end up suffering the same "growing pains" that Bay City has.

I think its beautiful there. I would love to own a plot there too but I'm not holding out much hope, I am sure the prices will go way beyond what I can afford.

They should script the chessboard to be playable...how fun would that be?

From: Tiziana Catteneo Hope it will not be empty like Bay City. If there is one thign in Bay City I'm excited by right now, its that some of the land owners -- the ones who are actually using their land -- are starting to band together in an alliance. As a result, were starting to put on events (a picnic and a treasure hunt are coming up, as are some other things) and doing what we can to make Bay City more thant what it currently is.

You know, instead of spending money building new cool areas, how about getting in touch with some of the owners who’ve built cool areas that are going to be destroyed in the near future because they can’t afford to keep them up, and make some kind of arrangement to save them?

Double prims!
They would need to be with the prefab builds A 1024 - supporting 468 prims The build on it is 203 prims.
LOL Overheard in the Citadel:
MA shouts: very nice from the roof tops RW shouts: I wonder what happens to those rooftops once the parcels are bought. AC would start actually aligning the prims
ooooooooh!

I just found this on the wiki, apparently the different SL wiki, while I was looking for the maps again. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Nautilus_City_investigationWhich might, or might not be the same as the blog you posted at the start.

Nope, but I did post that on the Magellan thread.

From: Marianne McCann Nope, but I did post that on the Magellan thread. Heh, I just looked in the Blog post, and one of the Lindens posted that link in the comments for that blog post. Oh, and I see mention of rez points: "I’ve established four Rez Zones for boaters around the Nautilus island; they each have a blue mooring bouy in them. One at the eastern end of the canal, one at the smaller island off the south shore, one in the outer harbor area, and one on the northern side, in the “notch” below the citadel wall. I guess the ancient Nautilonians … Nautiloids? … Residents didn’t need Rez Zones. Anyhow, the bouys aren't particularly ancient! -- Michael Linden" I also noticed land rez points and created a LM for one. Didn't spot any of the boat ones.

I just boated from the older mainland south of Nautilus (new) up to the new landmass and then traveled east all the way along its southern edge until I could make my way north to the central canal. From there I traveled the full length of the canal up into the large, round center that lies at the middle of the walled city. Here are some pics I took along the way. From the water, it looks amazing, and there is quite a range of parcel types. In addition to those in the city, there are several in the wooded areas amongst the ruins and within walled areas scattered across the countryside. If prices don't go completely insane (and they likely will) I might be pretty interested in picking up a parcel and seeing what develops out there.

I really like the concept of land with a backstory, and the "Myst" comparison is apt. But the build theme here is all over the map, and all a bit sun-baked for my tastes. (On the plus side, though, we're thankfully spared those damned palm tree weeds.) There is a huge amount of detail; clearly the Moles have been very busy for a long time with this.
It's fun to explore: a nice place to visit, but I don't think I'd want to live (nor site a shop) there. (But then, I'm feeling that way about SL in general, more and more, so that's not necessarily indicative of the market.)

I'm going to go and have a look. The idea of double prims for the same tier is awfully tempting...
