This is just not my cup of tea.I found it cold and bland.Bay City with togas. It has the same mass produced feel.....For me anyway.OK for a role playing Charlton Heston.Sword and sandals bah humbug.

Here are some maps of Nautilus City for those that wish to know where the sims are located and the like. I've purposely left them as links as they really are too large to post as pictures.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3026/2971865892_41754f8bf7_b.jpg
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3180/2971023181_167037ae6e_b.jpg

And then without the sim names:

This here shows Nautilus City snuggled gentely below Nautilus and above Satori, though Satori is barely seen on this map (it is actually a picture of Nautilus, but I include to show size of Nautilus City compared with an actual continent sized place).

That's interesting. There's another blank space in between some of the islands. I wonder what they'll be putting in there.

Has anyone found a water rezzing point for boats around Nautilus City/Island. I rezzed my Tetra 35 on dry land and hauled it to the water the other day but I'm planning a voyage in my Akula Class Nuclear Submarine and that might prove a little more difficult starting on land.

I did consider sailing down from Ava's harbour in Salerio but it gets a bit tight in places and at 40m the sub (even underwater) would struggle getting through.

Heh, I just looked in the Blog post, and one of the Lindens posted that link in the comments for that blog post.

Oh, and I see mention of rez points:

"I’ve established four Rez Zones for boaters around the Nautilus island; they each have a blue mooring bouy in them. One at the eastern end of the canal, one at the smaller island off the south shore, one in the outer harbor area, and one on the northern side, in the “notch” below the citadel wall. I guess the ancient Nautilonians … Nautiloids? … Residents didn’t need Rez Zones. Anyhow, the bouys aren't particularly ancient! -- Michael Linden"

I also noticed land rez points and created a LM for one. Didn't spot any of the boat ones.

Here's a description of the rez points. I didn't see a list of the slurls though.

It happens. I went through the thread twice looking for it because I knew it was there, but I thought it was posted by a Linden and thought it was a list of slurls, so I didn't see it for a while.

They are scattered around. They are marked by bouys/channel markers.

The Blue Buoys (you'll need to look pretty close to see the blue amid the rust red)..

The Southern Buoy is located at Hove 227, 226 (ish) and you need to rez just to the North Eastern side of it.

The Eastern end of the canal buoy is at Symacom 28, 86 and you should rez slightly to the East of it.

The 'notch' buoy is found at Magon 226, 146 but I couldn't get anything to rez there, but having said that the lag around that location is seriously bad, this may have something to do with the crystal nearby.

The harbour buoy is at Mlachthi 192, 52 and you rez slightly to the East.

Most buoys took several attempts before I rezzed anything, except Magon where I couldn't rez at all (but I'm sure at the right time - lag allowing - it'll work just fine).

Large submarine (and deep keeled craft) skippers should be aware much of the sea bed around Nautilus Island is very uneven and there is a tendency to ground, which in my case the caused the craft to go into a somewhat 'undignified' uncontrollable spin. Oh and you can't launch weapons, in my case nuclear..I tried..coff!

I got crashed out of SL when a zeppelin came into Shalim, so am waiting a few for it to pass.

(Could have been coincidence and not the fault of the zep, but...might as well wait a bit.)

I watched all the auctions today--quite a feeding frenzy. I do wonder if any of the re-sellers will get what they're asking....

I haven't heard of any covenants or parcel content restrictions, and I think we'd have announced that sort of thing much earlier. But let's hope everyone builds a nice Nautilus-ish building on their parcel!

Yeah, good luck with that.

The cheapest I've seen today was over L$39/square meter. And there were only a couple of those.

I haven't done the calculations for the mean price today (simple though it would be, what with everything being 1024m!) But I would guess it to be in the low 50's.

One should probably exclude that one outlier---the Yamm parcel that went for L$250,010 (lawksamercy!)

Okay thanks ..hmm less than I was expecting then (with the exception of the Yamm plot which had climbed over 150k before I went out this afternoon, 12 hours ago..I think).

Can't make up my mind whether to bid or not..probably not as I'm a bit disappointed the lag hasn't sorted itself out..and I suspect never will...:(

I'm puzzled by that lag thing. It's not as if anyone had a script shop running on any of those sims...And though at times there have been quite a few avatars on a particular sim, those reporting lag would have mentioned if there were 60 avies around. (Well, one would think, anyway...)

Are they using weaker servers or something?

Maybe it's just temporary...

A number of the water sims and sims on the N side of the canal are openspace.. I bet that doesn't help, though I'm surprised that even those are having the kind of troubles (expired_region_handoffs, mostly) I've been seeing there.

I have noticed quite a lot of the sims on this project are Open Space sims, certainly the water and several land sims. The main city and surrounding town/built up areas are all full sims though and odly it's in those sims you experience some really high lag.

One thing I noticed was the highest lag I found was (is) in the 'hole' (can't think of a better way to describe it) which centres on the x4 boundary of Hannibal/Malchus/Hanath and Pimlico. This is interesting because the highest lag I found at Burning Life was in a large tent which - you've guessed it - was centred over the multiple boundary of 4 sims..coincidence..hmm

Anyone whose sailed the waters around the Island will know what 'expired region handoff' means..usually a speedy exit from the area..you in one direction..your boat in the other.

Hot Tip...the boundaries between Hamilcar, Adon, Ysthyalum and Oruc are particularly good at demonstrating 'expired region handoff's' as my avi's experiencing as I type..
