Nonetheless it is always a very bad move when a company undercuts and competes with their 'resellers' -- I've seen it happen a number of times and almost always it ends badly for the company.
Except LL never authorised anyone to resell land enmasse for them, who says they desire the current state of affairs to continue or wanted it in the first place?
It could be that they wish to see the demise of the land seller, they bring many more problems in my opinion than they solve for the most part.
I think your statements would be true if LL had an official land reseller program like most other companies that engage in reselling. There would be an official status that land resellers would gain recognising that LL endorsed them and their activities. All other corporate reselling programs work this way and yet LL does not have one for land resellers. That does not speak to me that land dealers are "LL's authorised resellers" or that LL cares anything for having such a program.

Sure they allow land reselling to happen but that is quite a different thing from endorsing it.

Ooohhh I found a strange thing poking up along the shore of the canal in Nautilus - Mysehi (105,41,33)

IF you go in it and look up theres all kinds of control panels and buttons that are scripted and a map an stuff. No idea what its all for. LOL But its way cool.

As well as continuing to look for Magellan, I took some piccies of other spots. I 'specially like the underwater areas. This'll be nice for scuba, an merrmaids, an heck, jes f'r boating.

The "Bingo Strait" to the west of Nautilus is really nice for this. Here's some piccies.

Some of them switches in there seem to still be powered. Not sure about the big red button, though.

It's a win-win machine.

If it does anything, it will be boring.
If it does nothing, it's boring.

Now that's what I call a boring machine.

I'm confused. My pool shop is on the continent Nautilus. Why are they making something else called Nautilus? All this time and they couldnt come up with a new community name?

Other thoughts?

There go the nutty 800 dollar 512s again.

The naming is odd, but this is also off the coast of Nautilus (the continent) and is more like "Nautilus Island."

It looks like everything is 1024m

There are some in the water, but for the most part the sea is free of crystals. For the most part. Filled with other neat stuff, though.

(and I'm beginning to feel the same way about crystals . . and seaweed)

So the auction process is different from regular "land sales". The prims on the land stay there when you win an auction, but we can't run it through the "Include Content With Sale" effect. The house will stay on the parcel you buy, but the house will still be owned by Governor Linden. The moment you set autoreturn, poof goes the house.
So even Linden Labs would benefit from http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2404 ? :)

It would be hard, considering that it's backward. I mean the king and queen are reversed. Not to nit pick. Maybe the ancient civilization played chess that way.
Given the setting they should probably have a Latrunculi or Hnefatafl board rather than a chess board.

Or maybe a Thud board? :)

And you can "steal" copies of Magellan's grog.

Careful of the big red button.

That's how they kept the Romans from trashing their place in the alternate universe they came from.

I like how they used Coadey Concord's invisiprim trick with the dry dock.

The Regions, as found by Magellan, didn't allow reselling. I'm going around to all the "residential" Regions on the island this morning, setting the "allow reselling" value to "true". Auction winners, and subsequent parcel owners, will definitely be able to sell land on in Nautilus Island.

Nautilus City? This new area definitely isn't a continent.

TY for the update, Michael!

What about terraform and parcel divide/join? I assume those actions, like in Bay City, are not going to be allowed?

Any thoughts (or, better, official statements) on residents keeping to the theme?

Well, it clearly isn't the Nautilus Lacuna anymore. It *almost* follows the rules of an atoll. Definitely more an island than a city, though a city seems a big part of th' island. Confusing, huh?

Michael... off hand, what is the name of that continent to the south of Nautilus? Do you have access to Magellan or any other explorer's note that could shed some light on that one?

Thank you. A very helpful person IMed me the link to the 07/06/2007 SL Blog posting where Jack Linden names the continent to the south of Corsica as "Nautilus". That post is at:

http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/07/06/new-mainland-continent-on-the-way/

So it looks like the official geography is Nautilus Island is to the South of the continent of Nautilus, and to the North of the continent with three names :)

Thank you very much for the response to my question Michael :). After taking a look around I supopse my question about land joining is moot as many parcels do not in fact connect up due to walkways etc.

Parcels don't have to be "physically" touching to be joined..

edit: er.. I didn't think they did, anyway. The KB seems to indicate that they do.

Hmmmm are you sure? I know all land you own in the same sim allows you to share those prims amongst all parcels but to actually be able to select both sets of land with the edit terrain tools and press "Join"?
If so I never knew that and thanks for the information, that will come in very useful :)

Now I think about it though if Edit Terrain is turned off generally that is probably going to mean no joining also.
