Wow Aminom, brilliant work on the trees !!! Thats exactly what SL needs! I have also recently sculpted some palm trees - being an low-prim island-boy wishing to fill the islands I managed to sculpt 3 palms into 1 prim, so thats 1/3 of a prim per palm-tree. HOWEVER, its not anywhere as detailed as Aminom's trees. Due to the maximizing of the sculpt shape, the faces of the fronds etc are slightly disjointed and textures stretched, and I get some distortion at long viewing distances. I also suffer from that damn alpha-sorting bug between the 3 palms in a prim, and wish the leaders on the subject would shed some light for us to follow. http://forums.secondlife.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48457&stc=13in1Palms_ZA_Marine_1024x712.jpg http://forums.secondlife.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48458&stc=13palm1_001_512.jpg In my defense ... My plan with this however was not to create a 'detailed palm' (else i'd prob sculpt one in a prim), but it was more to create these ultra-low prim sculpts for 3D back-filling on small islands / coves etc. But TBH I kinda liked the result (and prim save) and have changed most my Linden palms for these on my home sim - and reclaimed 80 prims in doing so ... thats at Nomanisan Bay. Well, anyway, anyone's welcome to view these at the small island I have as an outlet at : http://slurl.com/secondlife/MO%20Island/241/225/22. Also some more pics and details on the blog at http://za-marine.blogspot.com/Enjoy

Last sculpted "big bad fish" ^^
made with blender and great domino manara python script.

I just re-invented the sphere by making a really good (as in just as round but smoother) sculpted sphere that is also SPIRALIZED (less planar). This always renders twice the detail (twice as many vertex lines and rows, roughly double w-poly count) as a non-hollow prim sphere from all distances (or same poly count as a hollow sphere) AND 2 adjanced polygons are not planar, so its smoother.
While this is rather pointless it is a nice basis for more organic and less flat spherical shapes.
Top right is the sculpted-sphere (further back in the same image), bottom left is the prim sphere.

I think I'm getting the hang of this texturing stuff... Blessed is "shiny", it makes me want to cam around sculpties all day. This piece is called "Zuri" which is Swahili for beauty.

Terrific! I especially like the ears, you captured all those spiff convolutions.

From: someone Imagine being able to make a perfectly precise sculptie table with your own parameters with naught but a filter host. "Oh, I want the top to be this thick and the legs to be this thin. And place the legs this far from the table top edges." OMG I finished my table thing. - the top uses like 4x the texture space than the bottom - in the cap: even though the longer table is twice as long, the legs are still relational -- the legs are twice as wide in the appropriate direction -- the legs are twice as far in from the edge of the table - only breaks a little bit on LOD hax using full bounding box There are two other controls I tossed in: thickness of the table top and shortening of the legs. These are just in case I felt the need to use them for something or other. Yeah... I now officially rock.

I don't think i've ever posted a sculptie to this thread before, and mostly haven't had too much to bring to the table because much of my work is posted elsewhere in the New Products forum. I chose to start posting here today because i've just got the following to share. The sculpt was made with SLoft, which i've been tinkering with lately as an alternative work process to my usual Blender. Unfortunately, because of the tight use of vertices, this doesn't hold up very well if zoomed out further than 15-20m In any case, I was pretty happy to at least fit this amount of detail in to one prim. Your thoughts and pointers are appreciated

Nice sculpty shares. I really really like the sofa, the bust and the sofa because it looks so close to real life.

From: Petteri Yiyuan Very nice bottle. i like texure effect. Is that picture from SL or from Blender? Thanks The texture was created in Blender and baked to 1024 x 1024 - it's mostly ray mirror and a hdri environment map.. Just a bit of musgrave noise to the normal direction for the body and lines (wood) to the normal for the threads. The picture was taken in Second Life using a 512 x 512 version of the texture. 256 x 256 also looks pretty good at the size you'd likely see this at.

Cool ships, Blake. very shiny They remind me of some of the ships in Stars Wars, ep. 2. Kind of a modern/retro style to 'em.

Yes, that was in no small part what made me go after the "classical" look. The ships are one of the things I liked more about the new films... aerodynamics FTW! XD I wanted a distinct shape though. The makers of Star Wars were overly "retro" at points... some of the ship designs look like they traced them directly from concept drawings of the great Hugo Junkers or the Horten brothers
