I love the way you got all those different sculpts to intermesh like that. Really good mechanical look. For me, inorganic shapes seem to be the hardest things to get to look right in sculpts, but you're making it look easy!

@Domino, cute sculpties! Now you know how to import things; the world shall be your oyster mushroom.

And I too fall down in awe at the Quan Yin statue.

/me wonders if he's promoting the Blender scripts enough.. Perhaps being "appled" is the sculptie equivalent of being Ruthed..

Anyway I've made the .blend for the mushroom available in the scripts thread :)

Wooo!! Scary Skull!!
07-03-2008 10:53

The raven is a simple Archipelis thingee, with the talons made with tapered tori. I touched the texture up in Photoshop, but what with it being black and all, it was a fairly forgiving texture.

The skull was modeled and textured in Zbrush. I've posted part one of a tutorial on it (everything up to the texturing bits) here:

Lot of nice works here , I usually instead concentrate more on making low prims sculpties ....

here is a 3-4 prims rowboat....

I just started with sculpties a couple weeks ago, but I wanna show off too....

This is my last creation, a Dauphin heli....14 prims plus the main rotor and tail actually spin. Made it in blender and used a custom export script to build it in SL

The SL version

And for those who care, the render from blender with the nice lighting and the somewhat less borked textures

Here are some preview shots of a wolf avatar I'm working on. I hope to have it finished together with a female counterpart some time in September. Man, working at this level of detail takes ages... *fetches more coffee*

Excellent sculpting and texturing, Leben! It truly conveys the avatar's personality (mischievous puppy that he no doubt is).

Thanks to all of you who like the wolf so much :)

For those who're interested in getting one of them: please watch my profile in-world sometime in September. I'll post there where it can be purchased.

Thanks,

Caledonian Antelope
08-09-2008 21:54
And continuing in the fuzzy animal theme, Desmond Shang recently asked me to make animals for the Caledon sims. Here is the first one that is wandering about, an antelope with a few basic behaviors--eats, wanders around aimlessly, stares at things, runs away sometimes. We will probably add more behaviors later, based on activities people can do in the sims (such as the ongoing mushroom hunts). Sculpted animation technique helped keep it down to 13 prims.

Basically, pure Zbrush here, with some Photoshop touchup of the textures afterwards (although Zapp Link allowed me to stay in Zbrush and use the Photoshop tools):

Working on swords that will be released this week. Sharp edges and texture mapping are retained at low LOD (from afar). Swords are 3-5 prims each.

Made a few different sculpted head shapes and build some cartoon like characters.
I've used standard prims for hair and eyes. =)
All prims are just tinted so thats why the lips and other details are not shown yet.

Orc Head
08-28-2008 14:34
Uhm...me again?! óô
Ok then. I just finishd texturing an Orc Head that is made by 5 sculpties (ears, head, chin and hair) and several standard prims (eyes, teeths and nose ring).
Not sure what to do with but probably it will become an avatar anytime soon :D
(To avoid confusions: On the left is me, the green thing is the Orc Head ^^)

Head? Did I hear head? Let me throw in a non-cartoony one:

The female of a wolf avatar project I'm working on. Less sculpties than it looks - but admittedly still a bunch of them ;)
