Made an old phone.
Turned out ok I think. A couple of views in pic. http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6495/traksvintagewallphoneum5.jpg I used 3dsmax with Shack Dougall's PrimComposer and a little help from Photoshop. PrimComposer here: http://liferain.com/downloads/primcomposer/ |

That's a really well done phone! The thing is, it's quite subtle, but you got all the textures, shading and shapes just spot on. You could photoshop it into a real picture, and I doubt I would blink.
Meanwhile, I've made yet another blessed horse. But the following possibly has more to do with me enjoying the land beneath Grendle's with my new videocard than anything else. Sometimes, one just needs to get out and sightsee ![]() ![]() _____________________

I've made simple lathed shapes in rokuru, but recently I got the SculptStudio made by TheBlack Box, and I created this multi-sculptie crouching lion for an ornate fountain I was building..
![]() Still could use a lil tweaking here and there, but I am so impressed with that ScultpStudio..person is a genius who invented that thing! LOL, making the surface textures for the head and the chest mane was another matter, hehe, I am still pretty clueless about the surface wrapping but I managed after a number of trials to get them more or less in the right places ![]() |

I did a little experimenting with light and shadow, with the gloss and glass.

Simple Throne
02-24-2009 20:54
A simple throne I made in Blender, materials baked in Blender as well, excluding the shadow, which is just a simple square-shadow texture.
8 Prims total. My first sculpt starting with the Blender Sculpty scripts by Domino Marama. All textures are purely procedural, as well, and have some basic lighting/shadows baked in. ![]() _____________________

Single Prim Clock
02-27-2009 13:35
I'm working on a single-prim analog clock, using changing sculpt maps. The texture remains the same, and the sculpt maps are small, so I anticipate it will rez fully relatively quickly. I'm going to have it change every 5 minutes or so, to keep general time-accuracies without spending a bajillion L$ on uploads.
Modeled and textured in Blender. Textures are baked without any lighting at all, as that caused some odd effects. The Clock: ![]() _____________________

Been Playing a Lot With Blender
02-27-2009 17:48
I've been just about constantly thinking of things to make in Blender, as sculpties, and while reading my DM manual (D&D ftw, amirite?), I thought "Single prim sword!"
And so, I have made it. A single prim sword, the proportions seem to be more of a bastard sword to me, so there you have it. Very quick baked texture, as well, I don't intend to sell the sword, or do much with it, but I'm rather proud. ![]() Created in Blender, using mostly the Cast Modifier along with Vertex groups, and a bit of proportional editing. ETA:: Didn't want to add a 4th post in a row, so adding to this one. Was bored, did another quick fun-sculpt, and created a 3-prim sword, this time... I can manage something pretty close to this in two prims, but I wanted to keep the level of detail in the hilt. Again, baked textures (Except for the blade, which just uses a blank shiny texture in SL, because I went broke and can't afford upload costs for another week or so, until my credit arrives lol) ![]() _____________________

Awesome texture work, Melon!
One of these days, I figure I might actually take the time to try some texturing beyond the procedural stuff =P Very well done ^-^ _____________________

I seem to be more stuck on low-prim objects, rather than high-quality textured.. not saying that my textures are bad, but if I spend some time on them, I could really probably bump the overall item quality quite a bit... maybe soon!
Anywho, my newest creation, a 2-4 prim sculpted hut! ![]() The image shows 2 sculpted prims (Hut and ladder) with two walking-prims... I cheated a little though! The top of the hut-floor walking prim is visible and wood-textured, because I didn't like my baked result for that bit (I neglected setting my model up to look good on that bit, silly me!) If you'd like this item, just send me an IM... I don't have a store or anything, so I just give stuff away for freeee! _____________________

Another!
03-06-2009 17:27
I decided I wanted to try creating a 'House Kit' using sculpties. A few pieces that could be put together various ways to create a building.
So, I've created six pieces (So far... I'll probably continue, just because I like doing these) for building creation. Four types of walls, one window, and one doorway. Each also has it's own baked texture (White, with Ambient Occlusion shading). ![]() I also built a small house using these pieces, to show how they can be put together. ![]() ![]() ![]() The house shown is 31 prims, and two objects, broken down as such: Two Doorways - 2 Prims Four Windows - 4 Prims Floor + Ceiling - 8 Prims Cornerblocks - 4 Prims Wall Sections - 11 Prims Invisible (Blocker) Prims - 2 Prims The size of this building is approx 12x12.5x5 meters, perfect for a 512m beginner plot, but sized in a manner that requires a few extra prims. (Personal preference in size) Because the sculpties fill essentially the entire bounding box, it's possible to use them without 'blocker' prims, except for sections where you want functional door openings. The outside of the walls are sculpted 'slats', with the inside as flat walls. The doorway and window sill sculpts have a small amount of aesthetic detailing. Just a little one-day project from me ^-^ _____________________

Yet another
03-08-2009 21:06
Am I the only one sculpting these days? O.o
Anywho, a single prim dinner chair, now! I'm kind of addicted to single prim objects, at the moment. I keep thinking "Well this is 11 prims, but I think if I do it right, I can manage one" So, I do! ![]() ALl that you see is a single prim, with a baked texture... an accidental little bit that I rather like is the wood showing through on the bottom of the seat... it makes it look like there's actually a wood base below the cushion, and it's wrapped in fabric, which is how most chairs seem to be made =D (In reality, though, I just neglected some edges when selecting... yay for accidents!) As an added bonus, a really quick and simple bar/work stool! Again, one prim, baked texture, and so on. The brownish tint is from lighting, the legs are a metallic colour (Though not shiny due to fabric seat in same prim) ![]() _____________________

A bit of a matching set, this time.
Top hat, and walking canes. The hats are two prims each (And a wide selection of colour bands is possible, easily). Each cane is one prim, and many colour combinations possible there, as well. Shown are the black banded and red banded top hat, as well as the black and white, gold/wood, and silver/wood canes. ![]() Inspired by my love of top hats, and a need of a cane to match. Created, as usual, using Blender, and textures are baked from Blender, using almost exclusively procedural textures (The wood is my default stand-by wood texture) Free to any who want them, just let me know. Your choice of colour in main hat colour, colour band, wood tint, and metal type on the cane. _____________________

A bit of Kitchen-Themed Creation
04-09-2009 16:45
Well, I'm finally home from a trip, and already back to sculpting like crazy XD
So, was talking to someone during my trip and they mentioned something about kitchen and bathroom stuff, so... I started working on some ^-^ (Well..not bathroom yet. Have to decide how to do the toilet.) Everything: ![]() Single Prim Fridge with Baked Reflection and Lighting (Tintable, and works with shininess): ![]() Single Prim (All of it!) sink, modeled to fit into a round-style hollow prim, such as a cube counter shown here. Baked texture, including reflection on faucet. Works with low shininess. (No shadow on the ceramic due to my lighting setup. Would have had four shadows that were more detailed than the sculpty, and I just prefer to leave them off): ![]() Some bread! Baked procedural texture, really just felt like making some (Since it's just a play-model I decided to leave the gray in the bread alone): ![]() Strawberries! This was actually a request from a good friend, but I felt it fit nicely ^-^ Baked texture, with the seed-pits created on a higher model, and baked in via shadow. Two prims per berry: ![]() So yeah ^-^ Some sculpty kitchen stuff. Had fun doing these, will think about making an oven, but kinda reserved due to alpha sorting glitch. Next up atm is bathroom =D (Everything here was made relatively quickly, over approximately 45 minutes total) As usual, free to any who want them, just ask! _____________________

My first attempt at any sort of realism with an organic object, my choice was a gnarled (likely dead) tree, so that I could avoid spending forever finding/making a foliage texture.
Two prims, created in Blender, baked textures, intentionally leaving out true shadows, so that it can look right in all lights. One prim is the trunk and the lowest branch, the second consists of the other two branches. The texture is done using 2 procedural image types (Cloud and marble), using the base material as a third colour, and the marble material as a normal map for more realism in the bark texture. The end result is a bit of a cartoonish realism, and I'm very pleased with it. Took me about 30 minutes total. As usual for my posts in this thread, if you want one, just ask. All my gifts are mod/copy. View 1: ![]() View 2: ![]() Closeup of the snapped branch: ![]() _____________________

Never noticed this thread, or this forum before. Tons of inspiring stuff in here. I rarely leave my dank cave, so I don't get to see a lot in the grid outside and it's aways a pleasure to see other people being creative..
I'll throw a few of my one prim pieces of junk in here in case it inspires anyone. I hope I can hotlink from xstreet okay, I can't be bothered to upload the pics anywhere. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Everything contained in each pic is one prim. |
