There's definitely more rudeness around, and it's not just the noobs or rifle carriers. Maybe it's just due to the extreme SL problems, but it seems like it's been getting worse for longer than that, unless it's my imagination. I can't so much as log in and get swamped in IMs of people basically saying "gimme gimme gimme". It seems like there's just no common sense about how much is too much to ask. It's reaching a point for me where I just want to set on Busy status all the time, or play an alt and ignore it. I'm not talking customer service...if there's a question or problem with something I have made I fix it and deal with it. It's more the folks who think they can, should, and will have anything they demand, long as you're going to do the legwork for them. It could be about a product, or some kind of stupid drama they want advice on, or a game question, whatever, it sometimes just seems like it never ends. And this kind of person wants it all for free, your time and effort is not important at all. Either that or there's just no social common sense. For example I was to start this custom build in November, soon as I was finished with a previous one. I had just started seriously speaking with the landowner on ideas when his group members started sending me offlines that informed me if I did not start building soon, the owner was apparently going to sell the land and quit the game, and it would be my fault. It proceeded to offlines to my partner insulting me...it was crazy! Needless to say, I immediately informed the owner that the project was off, and muted the bunch of them. But what kind of enjoyment is it for anyone if you log in and wind up dealing with stuff like this? The situation with noobs and unverified accounts is definitely worse, too, I am seeing a lot more folks wandering around, griefing, blocking locations, hollaring out obscenities, the list goes on. I hate setting our island on verified only but I'm thinking we will have to. As far as the general rudeness goes, I don't know what to do about it, other than turn into a hermit

wow this thread is still rollin? heh earl? one way to stop a troller or flamer is to ignore them not feed into it. (waves to hubby ^_^) as for the weapon vs penor debate, weapons do tend to make people nervous, especially as in one posters case, who had a bad experiance rl with them. i used to get highly offended though at those who insisted on runnin into me with their "extended personalities", not anymore, i have found sayin hi and leavin them be kinda takes the air out of thier tires, case in point: hubbeh and i were at a family BDay party the other night, when a umm ok guy walked in wearing umm almost nothing: hubbeh and a few guest took alook at him and yelled to the bday boy."strippers here!" and had a good laugh. we then greeted the guy and went back to our bidness. he left a minute later having not goten the reaction he prolly was gettin elsewhere. however with those who insist on using, or wearin, weapons and get offened when you ask them to remove them, there's nothign you can do but use the resources LL has put into place. then there's my fave: ban. not all who carry weapons however are griefers, some wear them cause it makes them look cool, or its part of thier RP sim and its easier to just wear it rather than take it off, shop then put it back on. is rudeness truly onthe upswing? judging by how long this thread has been running, hard to tell, what some consider rude others shrug off. what is offensive to one may be the norm for another. maybe im mellowin out in my SL old age ( ), but the only thing i consider rude is still the try the door over and over even after its say sorry locked ring bell, and my hubbeh and i have greeted the person over and over to no avail. that and cam pannin into our living room, or bedroom wearing god knows what.

From: Yngwie Krogstad On Friday, there were some people in our store who clearly had gguns in holsters in our store. At least that's what they wanted you to believe. If you had been there and turned on the ability to view all scripts (which I did), you would have discovered that the guns you saw on their hips were actually scripted semi-automatic machine guns, one in each hand and ready to be used.
That's how most/all holster/gun scripts work. The guns remain attached to the hand, and are just set invisible when holstered. When they get un-holsered, the version IN the holster goes invisible, and the one in the hand goes visible. Cheap and quick way to have the holster work with a script. The other method would involve going into inventory and selecting to attach the weapon and making the holster one invis.

Yeap, and I'll be more than happy to eject and ban Earl if he refuses to disarm and stand down when asked, if and when he ever stumbles across my land. Ahhhh, why go to the extra effort. I'll just ban him as soon as the grid re-opens.

I am sorry to all that i might of offended with my comments.. on the weapon issue when I do have one one and am asked to remove or be booted, If I choose to stay there at that location then I remove it (or I just change clothes). it is their place . or I just leave. I only brought it up was because some of the NASTY PM's I have gotten when I walk onto someones land with it. I am not new here so I know in places like clubs they are in most cases not allowed so I change befor going in. but when I was out just running around I found some are just not patient and jump you befor I knew their rules on their property.
