Hessen and Vanauken has gone....er to a land barron

I was wondering if it was a spanking college or a sorority cathouse or something, but nope?

^V^

p.s. that area Was one of my group's choices. We have 27578 sq meters to swap, and I submitted 10 choices.
when I woke up tonight, I found that all but one of them was taken, and I've been in-world ever since scrambling to add "comments" to my ticket, and I even filed another move ticket with comments and cross-reference numbers between the two. I submitted at 10:06, and my ticket is still "new"

PIckings are looking might slim for the good stuff. we'll probably wind up with something flat and covered with those crappy, prim-heavy trees.

Which is better than nothing, I suppose

take my advice and delete that new ticket. They opened that one I put in this afternoon and have left it as wip.. and skipped over the one I lodged at 10.04... (according to the slapt wiki a ticket lodged after mine went to wip around 12 hours ago - mine is still new)

By my estimates it should take them around 1000 days to get to mine as there were 4715 tickets put in between my first and that snarky one.

I really suggest just to keep the comments flowing in the original ticket..

I must have terrible taste in land. I just checked and the first two of my top three choices are still available--and pretty much still surrounded by other available spaces. Because my ticket is 10:05, I updated it with a replacement third choice, in case the first two get taken before they process it.

There was a little twinge of despair when I noticed that third choice was assigned to a particularly Vile harpy with whom I recently tangled on XstreetSL's forums. I was sure to choose a replacement location that wasn't nearby.

By your estimate then mine should get looked at in only 500 days! I submitted mine at 10:09am Monday. My 3rd choice was still available at 5:15am today as was my 4th which I went ahead and submitted as a comment knowing the lindens. This whole fiasco has gone beyond absurd. I mean we did ALL the leg work by providing SURLS etc... All they have to do is follow them, confirm adult content, make sure sq meters match up, set the stupid land for sale in the correct name and IM or email the new owner. If there are 10 people doing this they must have been recruited from the Bronx Zoo’s primate Temp pool! Having been in SL for almost 3 years however I really doubt they have 10 people assigned to this. My guess is 3 or 4, maybe 5 and they probably have to do ALL tickets. Even a 3 day old chimp would conclude from a search of just a couple of their so called adult words there are a 1000 or more adult parcels. Even I quickly discovered that and I sure wouldn’t want to do a battle of wits with a 3 day old chimp! Plus regions are now cut up into very like sized parcels so shouldn’t someone doing swaps know that too? And come on, to deny a Gor parcel with whipping posts etc. a move! Even my WoW addicted husband knows what Gor is.... gezzzzz cut me a break! But if we didn’t have such inept company running SL what would we do to fill all the “down” time in SL if we couldn’t complain about them? (rhetorical question) There I fell a tiny bit better now.

Once LL figures we are all frustrated to the breaking point - then they will open Zindra plots up in the land store - And we will all go and pay top dollar to get the plots we wanted. Then we continue to pay tier on our un-used Mature mainland while we search for a sucker to but it.
It is a diabolical plan.

No, I know I won't be playing that game. If this land swap crap isn't settled to my satisfaction by Friday morning 8am I'll sell my existing land cheap and become a "free" account! I'll be saving almost $23/month and that will buy 3 more bottles of sangria every month! That seems like a fair trade off to me.

Friday is the day before Independence day here in the states - so don't think your getting any help on Friday - we will be dead-in-the-water for a few days while the celebrations go on.

As a supposedly International company LL should continue the process regardless imho as we do not celebrate Independence day here in Holland on the 4th July ;)

Ok, so as a lot of you know, i was raising some kain with LL over the whole tickets skipped, first come first served.. and heres what happened.... from start to finish.

I had my notecard all ready to copy paste, all my land mainland slurls, ect, my choices everything ready to copy paste.
At 10am, i started, even ADDED a copy of the note card, JUST IN CASE, and submitted my ticket at 10:03 am.

*jump forward 27 hours.. in that time span... 3 live chats, and a supervisor ticket filed about ticket jumping*.

27 hours in.. i get a WIP ticket. From all i heard, about 2 hours from process time, to actual land swap. So i waited. Camped on the SIM i wanted. Talked to a lot of people. Gathered a crowd. And waited.

Then the Lindens showed up. First Amber, Then Teagen, Then Minerva. So while i am waiting, I realize that 1/2 the full sim i want is suddenly for sale to someone else. I immediately immed Teagan, who asked for my ticket number & time, and ask me to hold on. Next came the IM from Minerva, asking about my ticket. After an endless wait of about 10 minutes, Minerva immed me back, and the sim was rejoined, and set to sell to me, along with my additional parcel on a neighboring SIM.

Here's where the issue came in. Three Lindens working to get tickets done. All three assigned X number of tickets, in order they were received. Issue? They didn't talk back and forth. While the one working my ticket was on the way to set me up, another Linden came in and set 1/2 the sim to someone else. When they talked, compared tickets, mine was first entered. I did learn later someone else had filed for the sim, but apparently the linden processing HIS ticket, came in behind mine.

So all together, it took... 30 hours, 3 Live chats with concierge, 1 supervisor complaint, 2 quick IMs, and two extremely helpful Lindens that took a minute to look into it, a Demon doing the Haka, a lot of supportive people holding my hand to keep me from cracking (LOVE YOU GUYS) and i got my land.

I hope that everyone gets something they are happy and can work with, and if not, That the Lindens open the additional sims up to get everyone someplace they can be happy.

~Brie

P.S.. I have gotten QUITE a few NASTY im's from people pissed i got the land they wanted. I followed the proper procedure, and i got my ticket in early as possible, and actively worked to get my sim. Put the blame where it belongs.. on the ones above the Lindens working the tickets, to the asshats in charge that handled this all so poorly.
The rest of you, Feel free to drop by Rhianna soon and say hi :)

My two tickets are 8820 tickets apart. Unless the entire grid crashed (twice) between yesterday and today, I think that LL is going to have to either fire up the extra land servers, or find a lot of bullshit reasons to refuse the swap( that they have allowed at least one land baron to make )to legitimate purveyors of adult goods and services

If they offer us a crap piece of land, which I am expecting since I am not an SL powerplayer..can we turn it down and ask for something more suitable?

I really don't know. My guess would be that they will keep asking us for more and more "choices", until there's finally one that they can give us. Jack has been quoted as saying that ig they need more land, they'll put it online, but when? who knows.

I hope that you can get something suitable, but for me, I'm not exactly holding my breath (although you would think that would be easy for a vampire :)
I *started* with ten choices from all over Zindra, and gave them 6 more today when I found that all but one of my originals was gone. Including one to a place that has up demo grass huts, and another that calls itself a college, but appears to be an apartment complex run by a land baron that doesn't have a bit of adult content even *hinted* at in their profile.

So call me one of the "tinfoil hat crowd" if you like, but I'm thinking that while there are many legitimate tickets going through, the fix was in for some of the people who have moved.

I sincerely hope that any lindens who are gaming the system and setting up their alts or pals are found, tarred and feathered, horsewhipped, and then drawn and quartered and their limbs sent to be buried at the 4 corners of the LL campus in San Francisco, while their severed head(s) decorate the sidewalk leading to the main lobby as a reminder to others who might be tempted along the same path.

No, seriously. tarred and feathered, horsewhipped, drawn and quartered, beheaded and displayed as an example.

playing fast and loose with the rules is something that a bunch of hackers in their mother's basement would do, not what a business worth millions would do.

If LL wants to improve its corporate image, then it should get rid of any linden who games this swap for themselves or their friends, and that should apply all the way up to Phil and M

okay, I'm gonna go have a cigarette, bite a couple people and calm down. We now rejoin our normal Valerius programming, already in progress.

I've been meaning to ask about this because I'm not sure of the actual sequence of events in the updating of the ticket options. I too was watching the time on the SL viewer, and my recollection is that the top-level "Ticket Type" options changed sometime prior to 10:00 (adding what was for me the very effective distractor, "Custom Ticket"--which was essentially freeform text description and has since disappeared), and that only some time later (presumably at 10:00 sharp by the ticketing system's clock) the "Land and Region Issues" type changed to having the correct "Region Request" option of "Request Migration to Adult Continent."

That all could be wrong, however, because I was distracted by answering SL6B questions in-world at the same time, and flipping back and forth to see if the blog or wiki might get updated, and resampling that "Custom Ticket" type, and refreshing the top level page with the expectation that something Zindra-related would appear as a "Ticket Type" option.

It's just idle curiousity, but I'd really like to know: were the Ticket Types and Region Requests updated at the same time, or did that happen sequentially?

Actually, the change of ticket types popped up about two minutes early, as evidenced by the fact that I could cut, paste and submit a ticket (of the wrong type, but still one of the new types) at 09.59. The entire batch of new ticket types was probably activated by manual upload to the web server, not by some automated process. I think it is likely that the person activating the tickets erred on the early side, considering the ire that would've happened if they had erred on the late side - i.e. at 10.02... ;)

:) I like your style.

S'true though. If LL wish to have SL taken seriously as a platform for business and educational institutions like they keep saying, then they're going to have to polish up their act somewhat. It's not looking so sparklingly efficient atm.

From my recollection it may have been sequential, but if so, it was only a matter of a second or two between them. certainly not time enough to click, paste in the various sections and submit the ticket in less than a second. the folks with "10:00am sharp" would have had to do it in under a minute, or else it would have said 10:01- and while I think that is possible, the people who managed it must have been *extremely* quick on the keyboard and mouse.

I'm no slouch, but it still took me until 10:06, because I wanted to be careful and not have to do it again at a later time :)

but I too was refreshing the support portal, and had actually opened a "I have questions about zindra" ticket under the assumption that it was the right type, when one of my partners saw the KB refresh and said "Request a move to zindra!" so, I refreshed the Support portalas the clock struck 10 SLT and the drop down had changed, so I copy-pasted to the fresh ticket type.

so the change was fast- practically simultaneous.

And already what i am seeing is smaller plots sold in the centre or end of larger regions where those wanting less than a region but more than 7000 are hard pressed to find a suitable land mass that isnt carved up by protected or 'we arent offering this but why is your guess' type land...

Obviously FCFS is also good for LL in that they will end up with a lot of desireable small plots to auction off that are no good for larger builders...

I can feel 'land rage' at the moment where i want to get the fragmented land all around 'mr inconvenient' and slap huge mega prims around them ...lolll ...not that that is allowed but.....grrrrrr although also a bit of relief in other areas where 'phew, glad i didnt get that plot after all...'
10.05 and still waiting...

As for tickets..i was refreshing the page from 9.45 at least and checking around ticket types..KB..incase a whole dedicated button was planned...I also opened the adult q ticket several times (ok call me OCD) incase the boxes had been changed....The correct 'migration ticket' did not appear in drop down until after 10 am SLT and even then i left it a few seconds to give them chance and it wasnt there until refresh...Anyone copy and paste would also need to of added something in the comments box otherwise the ticket got refused as not all fields were completed, that took me a few seconds to find and rectify. faster fingers probably means someone knew the exact layout to submit between 10.00 and 10.01....

See this is where I get bothered - I too had been watching closely and I too filled out the custom notecatd just before 10 but 'AT' 10, when the proper ticket came up, I deleted the custom one (idiot I now know) and refilled out the proper ticket - assuming that LL would insist on everything being done exactly 'so'.
Live and learn I guess -
but by the time I had done all of that, and re entered fields that were thrown back to me, and got the thing to accept my ticket it was 10.12.
Funny how being precise works against you.
Congrats to everyone who has been sorted - even the ones who got my choices :-)
I do hope LL investigate some of the odder allocations... but I'm not holding my breath.
Good Luck all
