Mainland Sim Full: Who Is To Blame?

Lias you have been making that sim ugly for a long time. And you have always used your dirty tricks to get rid of people you didn't like. Last year you were encroaching on another's land with your huge black warehouse build. When called on it you pulled the same " I was here first and I pay tier crap." that you drag out now.

Yes, the infohubs, all of them, are expressly for community gathering. It's right there in the knowledge base, article 4257, "How to find Infohubs". First sentence.

From: someone
An Infohub, also known as a Welcome Area, is a place where Residents congregate and socialize.

Notice that "infohub" and "welcome area" are synonyms, and that they are not restricted to newcomers. Indeed, older residents are given a list of behavior guidelines that they are to follow for the benefit of newcomers while they are at these places. That's in article 3990.

The actual rules are:
From: someone

1. No shooting, blood or violence.
2. No buying, selling, advertising, begging, or recruiting.
3. No sex, nudity, or offensive language.
4. No annoying, repetitive, or adult sounds.

Items 3 and 4 apply regardless of the local sim rating.

Nothing there prohibits "loitering" - and prohibiting that would be silly, since that is their purpose.

Meaning: I can go there, explore the sim (even without paying tier), share whatever I have to share with others, look at original art, even create stuff. Furthermore I can get helpful hints and information. Wow I should go there more often. Sounds like a nice place to be after all
Can't build since build was turned off because the loiterers were greifing the sim.

From: someone
But... Torley asked wether Lias wanted a place where new users could enter the mainland and explore the sim. Please, my dear Lias, tell me where in that question I can read that no others are allowed to come there?
Community gathering in that infohub was not an option presented to me when I was asked did I want it there. This 'feature' cannot be added later. That is called 'bait and switch' in the business world and could lead to a breach of contract if the two parties involved do not resolve the issue.

The Lindens Define InfoHubs in the Official Blog as:
"These spaces, called Infohubs in Second Life, are distributed throughout the mainland grid. Because these spaces vary in size from very small plots of land to larger ones, we are considering two types of builds. The smaller of these would function as an information center for centralized distribution of Linden Lab news and announcements as well as resident content. The larger type of space would be used as a public gathering space for meetings, events, or general socializing."
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The Lindens Define BEAR INFOHUB AS:
The smaller of these would function as an information center for centralized distribution of Linden Lab news and announcements as well as resident content.

FOUR SIM INFOHUBS: The larger type of space would be used as a public gathering space for meetings, events, or general socializing."

Read your own words back my dear.
"I am building what I want" makes clear what you want.
Really, it would have shown some balls (yes, as a matter of speech) if you would have quoted more pieces of my posting, and finally made some sensible replies instead of repeating yourself. But that seems too much to ask, doesn't it?
I'm lost ast to what your point is with this post. I say I am building what I want - as in protest to having to meter my activities in the sim because of a over crowded unsupervised infohub. This only effects those that wish to camp chat in that infohub day after day. And that is the way it will stand until SL implodes upon itself I guess.

What part of "we are considering" don't you understand? What part of "would" don't you understand? This was part of a proposal, and obviously an unimplemented part of one, not a policy.

You know, quite a while back I was at some technical event. They had a neat robot there, that actually responded to what you said.

The thing became quite boring after a while though, as it could only use a few sentences. So no reasonable coonversation could be had, not to speak about an argument.

Suddenly that event comes back into my mind. Go figure.

This proposal was what I was presented with in 2006. No other proposal was ever mentioned to me. The Infohub was built when the original 2006 proposal was the only one on the books. Again, if they had a new plan for these spots they should have spoke to the people in the sim again to get approval for the new plan. It was a bait and switch as it stands now. And that is not acceptable.

Lias, my apologies for not being able to stop trying to get some sense into you.
We are talking about community land. Wether its an infohub, protected ocean, or roads, it is community land. The fact they did not present it as an option thar avatars would come and chat on community land, did not mean you were forbidden to use your common sense. They do not put billboards out at roads, that non paying avatars might drive there either. Yet when I buy mainland in a sim with a linden road, I am quite able to guess that avatars might actually use that road.

Well, I showed up to Bear and there were 12 people there at 6 pm SLT yesterday. All were very nice and not griefers at all. If anything, I was more horrified by the hideous neon builds AROUND the Infohub. *cough*

Lias, do you realize that LL did not have to ask you about putting the infohub in the sim. The asking did not bring a contract into being. It is their land. If they wanted to put in 100 50m tall rotating pink peni that was and is their right.

I'm guessing each one would represent a Linden right?

Of course, they would have little hats with names stitched on them.

Actually, this could be useful as an inworld status indicator for the grid. They could give us a 'heads up' whenever the grid is f***ed ... 80 of them erect when the grid is 80% borked, etc.

Great idea, Chris! I hope the Lindens replace the Bear infohub with this useful and pleasing status notifier, so that we never ever hear one word about the Bear infohub again.

Nah feel free to use my blog pictures anytime especially if it points out the nasty actions of a person like this does.

And fyi, when I went to the hub to take this pic for my 3rd visit there this week there were only 6 people on radar the whole 20 or 30 mins I was there. I went afk for a lot of that time and no one ever messed with me, shot me, gave me problems nothing at all happened. I'll be in the hub again at 10sl time today (in about an hour) or shortly after for Dancien's party. So I'll be an official loiterer if anyone ones to loiter around with me.

Your experience matches well against my own experiences at this infohub. Frankly, I found it one of the more pleasant ones I've seen, akin to the Hyles one.

It's still hopping at Bear if anyone wants to come bump the traffic numbers so Lias has something to bitch about tomorrow. I M me if you need a tp.

And this has been the ugly MOB MENTALITY that has plagued the sim for the last year. Supervised public gathering is ok - Unsupervised loitering attracts people like Sarah and the Bear Buddies/Bear Co-op Greifer group.
And I can create my own unpleasant - loiter filled atmosphere without the help of Sara, the Bear Buddies or Linden Lab (please see picture in thread above).

Such hypocracy. Calling others griefers when you yourself have admitted that you are a griefer in this thread.

Is this not a bit like buying a house next to a major airport and then threatening to go to the TV stations unless the airport officials do something about "all that noise"?

I think the problem is they saw it as a small private airport requesting permission to build in the city... agreed to it. And it turned out to be the in spot with a lot of pilots who didn't want to head to the larger airports.

Meh, I'm there just watching the folks and seeing how it goes
