Sex in SL lets see what the majority is

Well, you have the right to find it boring, funny or whatever your attitude is...

Just as I have the right to find it funny or boring...or arousing, or fulfilling, or an intellectually and emotionally satisfying experience, depending on my perspective.

Imposing anyone's sexuality where it is not wanted (I'm looking at you, Mr I-don't-know-how-to-mute-my-Xcite-bits) is at best very ill-mannered, and at worst offensive and bordering on abuse. I'm firmly in favour of those who do not wish to see or participate in sexual content (for whatever reason; religious, moral or simply by personal preference) not being subjected to it. That decision is EVERY BIT AS valid as choosing to spend your every waking SL moment being tied down and interfered with by a pack of virtual sailors (for instance)...

...BUT NOT ANY MORE VALID. Whether LL likes it or not, sexuality is the engine that drives most human endeavour, and a microcosm like SL cannot help but reflect that; it would be fraudulent and hypocritical to claim otherwise. I have no wish to police anyone's imagination, and I'd be obliged if I was extended the same courtesy.

And a hearty congratulations to anyone who is in such a wonderful, fulfilling RL relationship that takes such care of all their physical and emotional needs they never need to fantasise at all...

...The less fortunate majority, with partners 4000 miles away, or no partners, or just a curiosity and desire to explore that goes unfulfilled in RL, salute you and your incredible luck.

Many people do both.

Some people have sexual appetites that exceed others.

Some people for whatever reason have limits on the activities they are capable of irl. Or oportunities.

For example - many lesbians date in Second Life becuase its hard to meet women in the smaller towns where they live in real life.

I imagine its the same for gay men.

Also a minority in a sexual tastes sense - such as BDSM. A lot of towns dont have much of a "Scene" to get involved in. So people who like that may date and have vanillia style stuff IRL and get cyber-kinky in a place like SL.

Though I do mind, and as has frequently happened lately, looking for something in the search, with mature NOT ticked and being faced with a RL pic of some female on her hands and knees with someones penis in her mouth. I really don't pay to play this game to see that:/ Unfortunately there is not way to AR that kind of nonsense either.

I am one of those "never have sex in SL" crowd. I have no problem at all with people who do have sex in SL, beyond Lady Nelson's famous rule: "I don't care what they do, as long as they don't do it in the road and frighten the horses."

So this sample doesn't look all that polarized to me. Being a "Never Have" clearly does not connote "Ban the Naughty Bits." Nearly everyone responding cares little or not at all about pixel-poinking in SL by others, whatever they themselves do about it. And a handful of people seem to care entirely too much. Perhaps they have emotional issues of their own to deal with.

Cybering just doesn't cut it, unless you're a voyeur and like puppet shows.

I picked rarely because i really don't come to SL for this purpose. If i do have any type of sex in SL it's with a special person such as a pet, master, or mate. Sex is not a priority for me, though i do enjoy it.

The best sex always involves the mind. Otherwise you are just XXXXXXX like a couple of animals.

I am pretty excepting of others personal habbits, I may not like them all (Smoking, Drinking excess among them.) but I can except them, these are RL examples that I have sort of brought with me into SL as well. But now I am getting off topic.

I personally will not ingage in sexual roleplay, as that is really all it is in SL, but I except that others do. All I ask of them is that they keep it private and to appropriate areas. Meaning if you want to "Cyber" in your residence, or in a club or sim that is desiganted for that activity, go right ahead. HOWEVER! When you leave these places I would expect your Av to be clothed and decent, anything down to a thong, or string bikini is fine with me. I'm pretty easy on that as long as the package and breasts are covered in some manner.

I have only been around a month or so, but I to get a little fluster when people naked as the day they were born (RL), walk into a PG Sim and right in the middle of a group of fully clothed people. Then grow an aditude when they are informed of this fact and asked to put their prim dick away.

I will only AR for in SL sexual activity if:

1.) It blatantly appears to involve an underaged Av. This does not mean, "Oh that guy is doing a short chick! It must be a little girl!". It means the apparent underaged Av is displaying underaged behavior as well as appearance.

2.) It is displayed in inapropriate locations such as PG Sims or locations with posted notice that nudity is not allowed, or sim/locations not designated for sexual activities, and the resident become offencive beyond there nudity or sexual display toward me when asked politely to cloth themselve or put their prim genetals away.

3.) It is displayed out side areas reserved for sexual activites for the express perpose of greifing me to a point beyond my vast tolerance. Typically I just totally ignore them.

Maybe I'm the only one that feels that way but what a waste of f***ing time. I'd much rather be creating or chatting with friends or playing games than pretending to have sex...why pretend when I can raise my eyebrows at my husband and be on my back ina second flat lol?

I think the poll would have served a better purpose if it asked who found sexual content on SL offensive and to what degree, rather than if we do it or not and how frequently.

Sae Luan, if you have never had SL/Cyber sex, don't knock it, until you have tried it.

RL sex is great, but it does' not hold a candle to SL/Cyber sex.

I voted "Sex Addict", even though the real answer is "Rarely" (and nowadays, "Never" because this poll is so misleadingly titled. The title is "Whats the real majority think of sex in SL", but the answers only relate to how much one participates in it. Just because I no longer engage in it myself does not mean that I'm disinterested in or oppose the right of others to engage as they darned well please. Yes, I will leave SL if it becomes so repressive and homogenous that it's not fun anymore, even though these days I'm not doing anything that would get me banned under even a literal interpretation of the latest blog post. (Not that that would stop griefers intent on abusing the system.)

I find it disturbing that people would equate participation with opinion, as though nobody should or would care about something that doesn't immediately affect them personally.

lol...I have tried it LONG before SL..before I was even married...to me it just feels silly either way. If I want sex I'll find it in RL from someone it will mean something from and to enjoy the full experience..

and I certainly hope the poster above me is kidding because no one will ever convince me that virtual sex can even nearly come close to what you get from RL sex. ;p

I'm not trying to put you guys down. I know not everyone is married, some people have handicaps, some are afraid of people...what have you, but this poll asked what the poster chooses to do (well...that's how I answer anyway since I can't answer as the majority), and personally I think virtual sex is pointless to me. Perhaps I shall reword my post if it is giving the wrong impression because each person should be able to do what makes THEM happy. Doesn't matter how I feel about it.
