From: Jake Reitveld Of course not. Because it is a reasonable way of seeing it. Nah, because you have a history of intentionally being obtuse and overly pedantic for the sake of argument. After all, you said that arguing on the forums is a game which you get off on. So Jake, have fun, just realize it's not some cat and mouse game to everyone.

If I choose not to join the group, am I boycotting it?
I'm boycotting a heck of a lot of groups then, huh.

From: Nolan Nash You know, I KNEW someone would jump all over that comment. I really did. But I posted it anyway, because I am not going to let people who have no desire to do anything other than try to twist things to serve their group's special interest agenda.
I said "content Jews" because I find Prokofy's exclusionary rhetoric hateful, not to mention ironic being that he calls others "fascists". If it were up to him, content creators would be relegated to simply making things for the rest of the world. Much as the Jews were harnessed in WWII to support the war machine on many, many levels.
Have we become so politically (over) correct that we can no longer reference the humilation of a group of people to make a point? Thanks for responding. I asked you to explain your comment because as someone who lost many of his relatives in concentration camps during WWII, I don't particularly like this sort of analogy. I don't think any action by anyone in SL can ever possibly be compared to the horrors committed by fascits or the suffering of Jews, no matter how bad it is. Please keep that in mind and try to keep that out of here please. Thanks

From: Cienna Samiam Yup... do you understand that the outrage at Anshe Chung is due to her own racism and bigotry? A simple 'yes' or 'no' answer will suffice, counselor. What does that have to do with anything...ANYTHING..I communicated? By that are you saying she deserves the racial slurs? Please elaborate.

From: Enabran Templar Yeah, but you've been filling Prok's FIC-suspectin' shoes in his absence, so it's a little different from other people with smaller land holdings. I may be a little different, Enabran, but it's not for that reason. coco

From: Weedy Herbst If you need a ton of bricks to fall on your head to see that members in your group have it out to persecute "content barons" then I have less confidence in you as a group than in the first place.
Was that directed to me? I hope not, else you must be extremely confused. What are you talking about??

I would point out that i was not the first nor, will I probably be the last to make such an analogy. Sometimes I think folks take SL way to seriously, and I fell into the trap of responding with that same level of seriousness, for that you have my apology. My family too suffered because of that regime, and while we are not Jewish, please do not infer that I am in anyway unsympathetic. Quite the opposite, I assure you. Out of respect for you and the suffering your family endured, I won't use that analogy again.

Well, without reading this whole thread (having just gotten home from the scrapbook convention), I will say that I have no intentions of boycotting anybody. I can't speak for the rest of the group, but since boycotting anybody was never mentioned to my knowledge, and is not any sort of avowed purpose of the group - quite the contrary, the purpose is to enhance SL for everyone - then I think it is safe to say that we will not be boycotting anyone. coco P.S. And if we did, I'd be gone.

By that are you saying she deserves the racial slurs? Please elaborate. It has to do with the reality that you have completely misunderstood the context and influence of the posts you're ranting about... and it has to do with the reality that the people who ARE offended by Anshe are so because SHE engaged in bigoted and racist behavior. The posts you keep referring to were not an attack on Anshe, they are a reference to a classic bit of techno-geek culture commonly referred to as 'All Your Base Are Belong To Us'. You may assume all you like, but it remains that the assumptions are invalid and a misjudgement of the people who posted them. There is not one post here that is slurring Anshe because of her race/culture. I challenge you to present evidence to contradict this reality. In the hope of opening your eyes to the reality of this situation, and the ultimate (albeit dark) humor of your seeming hysteria, here is the link to the 'All Your Base' video. Let's us all hope you're as good at stepping back and reassessing as you are at leaping to hostile conclusions: http://www.planettribes.com/allyourbase/http://www.planettribes.com/allyourbase/index.shtmlhttp://rmitz.org/AYB3.swf

From: Cindy Claveau I normally hate quoting back an entire post, but in this case I think Chip has it right. The basic (on paper) motives of this group are not at issue. But there seems to be a more hidden agenda behind some of the members that is not being acknowledged, and to me that is plainly dishonest and hypocritical. This just in: I found a candid shot taken of tonight's meeting. Note Anshe's new costume, and that's Prok behind her, looking slightly batty. Well thank God, somebody finally has the ovaries to admit that the goals are good. coco

It's a call to boycott your group. One I will participate in and heartily endorse. Can you boycott your own group?

It is clear that the points are not really the issue - the founder, and at least one of the officers and thier poorly chosen comments are. Again - I think they need much better handlers.

From: Ash Qin I don't hate Anshe as a person, I dislike what Anshe is doing however and I am not specifically targetting Anshe, I'm talking about land barons in general. But please, you make it sound like what land barons is doing is good for some reason? But everytime I look at what is going on, I cannot find anything particulary 'good' about it. It seems to me that the consumer some how gets screwed in the end. To me the concept of how land barons work on Secondlife does not fulfill creativity or innovation, which is really the ideal you could say of Secondlife. However, please, show me evidence that my views are wrong. I'm a logical person. I do change my opinions about things. I do make mistakes about my conceptions of things. Well, I didn't like the change to the auctions where only Sims could be auctioned. (And said so at the time.) But Anshe didn't do that, the Lindens did. And given that, who has the money to buy a whole Sim and then partition it off for the rest of us? I know I don't. I'm grateful Nexus Nash and Adam Zaius can do that and have built a wonderful place in Azure Islands, which is not only beautiful but growing. I didn't come into the game until February - before the auction change, but after there were already people renting out land and selling land as the middleman. I was able to basically "rent" my land from Nexus and Adam, before they bought the islands. Even though I was a basic member! And then, when I became a premium member, Garnet Psaltry owned the land next to my shop, which was at one point first land. I couldn't have bought it as first land, of course, but once she had ahold of it, it was easy for me to click on it and buy it. That too was a service to me! So I fail to see how people providing a needed service - who are NOT responsible for the Linden's auction decision - are evil, anymore than I see real estate dealers in real life as evil. I far more appreciate my land than I would somebody's nifty new outfit or vehicle, so as far as I'm concerned, these people are very valuable and do provide a service. Plus, it's not an easy job to do - I certainly wouldn't be interested in it or have the patience for it. And as I've said before, Anshe has never been anything but nice in my dealings with her, and that's a heck of a lot better than those on these forums who practically make an art form out of nasty. So - looks to me like the bad guys in this scenario are the ones who hate her. And think she's all these insiduous and calculating and wily and cold things. Nobody is perfect, and I'm sure she isn't either, but come ON - nobody deserves this sort of treatment, either. And want to boycott her and ruin her. That's just ridiculous. That's bloody horrid. That's nothing like this supposedly fun and lovely and loving and cooperative place everybody has going here. Fun and lovely and loving and cooperative - maybe. Unless they don't like you. I hope you get the chance to read this answer to you. coco

Count yourself a lucky one, then. Every single dealing I had with her like referrals and when I used to rent in her malls was far below what I would consider 5-star Customer Service. Now, I know she's a busy woman, but in every single instance, the responses were unsatisfactory. A little sugar goes a long way, a little lemon goes farther.

From: Pendari Lorentz Ok. Honestly. What does this statement say to you Coco? "Anshe Chung: This is what we feel makes us stakeholders. More like you and in contrast to e.g. merely tourists, users, consumers, players etc." I'm honestly curious as to me there is only one way to take it. So I'm at a loss to understand what you are seeing. Can you explain to me so that I understand where you are coming from? I explained my take on it once to Nolan already in this thread. As I said, I assumed she meant all of us who have a stake in it. In other words, those who have money invested. Which includes me. I pay my subscription, I spend time on the game. I hated seeing the rug pulled out from under GOM. Maybe you didn't. I don't even KNOW these GOM people, and have never used them. But all I heard for months was how wonderful they were, what a respectable business, all that. Then look what happens. Which wasn't even NECESSARY to happen, judging by the other possible ways it could have been implemented that people have said on these threads. That not only pulled the rug out from under me, insofar as this supposedly being so real, it made me worry for the future of all businesses, such as SLExchange, and SLBoutique, which I happen to like. And Azure Islands, where I live. I am wondering, if anybody is blind, it must be the people who are saying, well, them's the breaks, you shouldn't have been so stupid, GOM. You mean to tell me none of you is worried about things like this? Anshe is asking for people with a stake in things like this - which means anybody with a stake in things like this, which includes ME, who owns very little, but wants to see businesses like GOM flourish - will be at least consulted by LL prior to making sweeping changes. If for no other reason, the fact is, players might think of options they didn't think of, and be able to press for those less detrimental options to occur. THAT is what I want to see. And that is what I thought, and still think, Anshe was saying. coco

Should certain members of the community that are not employed by LL be regarded in that manner?
