Listen, maybe a lot of you were sheltered as children. But me and most of my friends had seen everything in SL by the age of 13 and then some. This is how kids grow up these days for the most part.

I agree, kids shouldn't illegally join SL, but thats kind of funny the way you put it, no OFFENCE, I don't want any drama starting, but it seems like you're making an excuse just to not like them, If their parents let them play SL, I don't see why it should be up to everyone else :\ I dont know, maybe its because I am really young myself, I am 18.. but I know how many teens feel because theres nothing more that I hate when someone calls me a kid, but hell, I'm legal to play this game.. so bite me.. LOL! Well, everyone has their own opinons, nobody should jump on anyone about them either.. Nivea, I started playing SL when I was 19, Im now 20. Some of my friends cant play SL becuase of age. The difference is they respect the rules and will wait. I was just offering my opinions on respect ![]() _____________________

Umm Hello kids are supposed to be sheltered that is our job as parents to protect our kids from stuff that is too adult for them. If no one protected you like the should have I am sorry for that. _____________________

We don't want minors in SL cause we like SL and we don't want LL to go out of business cause some kids mom caught him whacking it in "Club Sexxorx" and sues the hell out of LL for her precious baby being exposed to naughty bits. _____________________

Do you know how often someone in public highschool hears the F word every day in the hall. So it should be acceptable and condoned? _____________________

daniel, did you see it because some adult decided to let you see it? Or is it because you saw it without permission? I dont think that the point is 'Kids can handle it'. That's off topic. They will never be permitted in SL's adult grid.
It doesn't matter what the kid has seen or experienced already outside of SL. Doesn't. Matter. The point is, whether or not they can 'handle' the content in the adult grid, they are not permitted by LL to be there. They won't be, either. Period. |

No kids

If Lindents made it possible for children to play (many do already) this would casue the need for all kinds of censoring not to mention more work for Lindens. Do they realy need that. Do we need to end up having to police children and keep them out of out Mature areas? What happens when they realize they can script things. and thier dirty minds start making the porno scene even worse? I know many 14 year olds who are talented programmers (Most of the older scripters used to be one themselves) and we know what heppens. More push weapons, attacks, stupitities, fights, wars even.
IMO Bad Idea. Keep it how it is. Let the youngins sneek around. Like they do . Or police the ones playing Illegally |

Might be getting too political here, but if we as adults are really concerned about sheltering kids, we might give a little more thought to HOW we're doing that. It's kinda funny seeing people go "OMG kids might see sex!!!" when at the local bookstore, there's a DK book on mechanized warfare for small children.
So in other words, sex = bad, but blowing people to small bloody bits = good? WHOM are we sheltering again? And from what? Just a thought. |

You're right Galatea they won't be. I wasn't suggesting that they would.
Toy, whether it is accepted or condoned, it will become a part of their life, and lose its shocking value as things do when one gets used to them. |

Smigmee, *any* kid in SL right now is in there without permission. It is not a matter of 'keeping them out of mature areas'...the entire GRID is mature, after a fashion. It is an adult world.
That means 'no kids'. Just because kids sneak in, doesn't mean the Lindens intentionally 'made it possible'. When a kid is discovered in world, it means they snuck in, and they are removed immediately. |

Knowing kids they make messes cause trouble.the way i see it LL "little children" playing SL will get caught up in the game hense ,ditching school not doing homework only to play SL and jump on some sex balls the mathmatics and technology in this game is far to advanced for a little kid nothing i say will change things but oh well

Alex, that is the book store's decision. LL's decision was to not allow kids into the adult grid...I agree that most of us 'knew' things as kids, but it is entirely different in this case, because LL isnt a bookstore, it is a virtual community of adults. By design.
If my child was permitted by an adult to quietly remain in SL, and some *other* adult did something horrible to my child IRL as a result of meeting them in SL, I can assure you that I would be subpoenaing my child's chatlogs and finding the adults responsible for both allowing my child to remain there, and the criminal that hurt my child, in a heartbeat. There would be hell to pay, and it wouldn't be LL that I went after. |

My 13 year old brother wants to play SL, so I kinda support the idea. The only problems is that you can just screw scripting, no one will ever get it, which will also make the Kidie SL boring for them. Clothing might be difficult to them also.
I unno. It would be interesting. _____________________
