From: Jsecure Hanks Yo Cereal Milk, you didn't answer my question about your, uh, social agenda. If you're all for knowing all MY private business, you should start by telling us all your private business. No, I think we should start with you. How many teeth do you have left?

Just answer me something, Cereal.
What gives you, another customer just like me, the right to know what what other accounts are registered on my credit card?
Don't argue from the perspective that I don't have the right to privacy. Adress this directly, or not at all.
What gives you the right to know this?

Hey I'm all for privacy, and I'll fight to defend it, so in line with that you're getting nothing from me. If you want to erode privacy well, it all starts at home, so start fessing up. Tell us everything about yourself...

If you were really dead set on an answer, rather than just showboating, you would have read my previous comments and had one: Abuse.
I've had business deals go sour with people, only to have them come back to me all over again under a different name. And no, I don't know for a fact it was the same person; I had to rely on word of mouth. And that's bullshit. As a customer, I want the tools available to me to be able to avoid this kind of behavior. It's time for some accountability.

From: Lance LeFay Reitsuki: How about so we know who to neg rate? Nope. That still doesn't give you the right to know who else's account I pay for. Try again.

Wow, way to be a condescending asshole And besides, in the case of "paying for someone elses account", there could be a procedure to mark another account as seperate, and there would be a punishment for abusing it.

By the way, Reitsuki, just so you know, when you say "X = 1", it doesn't mean it does.

If you want to know what gives me the right, let me point to my credit card statement.

Reitsuki is spot on. Bad things happen in life, but it does NOT give you the right to start shredding people's privacy. Privacy law is some of the most valuable law in both the UK and the USA and the laws on privacy are guarded well. Guarded well so that bullies such as yourself will not invade other people's privacy because it suits you. You have NO RIGHT to that information.

You have every right to know all about your accounts, but you can't buy your way into the details of my transactions with Linden Labs. That's private and violation of privacy is something you DO go to jail for.

From: Lance LeFay No, the phrasing of the post does. I tend to get that way when people start talking about eroding my rights in the interest of "protection". It's not a subject I have any kind feelings towards.

Do I have a right to know what books you bought on Amazon? How about what movies off isexxoryouup.com? No? Then why do you have the right to know what accounts I bought? *for the record, I don't care what movies or books you buy. I don't have the right to know that, and would never ask for it. I'm trying to illustrate a point.

From: Reitsuki Kojima No, the fact you pay Linden Labs money doesn't give you any rights over me. The fact we both pay Linden Lab money means we are both at the whims of whatever policies they implement. They, presumably, implement the policies they think will suit the player base best, based on - wait for it - player input. (I would have included profitability in that last sentence, but that would have been stretching the truth.) So yeah, actually, I own you. And you own me. And LL owns us both. Stick that up your rebel attitude.

Yeah very good, a link to an article on CCTV. But you won't find one of those in my house. And you won't find one in my bedroom. And you won't find one nosing around in my Second Life account details, though you might find the odd Linden around the SL metaverse.
The Lindens can try and release my account details, but if they did it here in the UK they'd be violating the Data Protection Act, and as a result I could order an investigation by the data comissioner, the result of which would be a £25,000 ($50,000) fine for Linden Labs, and probably a review into their business practices.
Privacy laws matter a great deal and a lot of the populace believe in their right to privacy enough to fight for it. If you really think you've a right to everyone's private account details, better get ready for a long and bitter battle. That will fail.

No, because it does not affect you in any way, and the knowledge brings no benefit. Your analogy is flawed. From: Jsecure Hanks Yeah very good, a link to an article on CCTV.
