Which they can do in their own isolated secure sims. Why the need to roust the house?
Only if they host them on OpenSim. LL doesn't have a grid-in-a-box product for sale.

erotic is not the adult word.

Escort is completely not adult.

Escort agencies are companies that book and dispatch escorts to a customer's house, hotel room, or requested location. Some agencies also provide escorts for longer durations, who may stay with the client or travel along on a holiday or business trip (source: wikipedia)
Whatever happens between escort and customer is strictly private and money paid for this kind of service does not include sex. There are escorts agencies in almost all countries around the world including USA where prostitution is illegal, so this means escort agency does not offer prostitution.

Another source is CNN, they were showing adult entertainment industry in Second Life about 2 years ago and there was a question about escorts and if it is real or not. The lawyer or someone else (I dont remember specifically) said that virtual escorting is completely legal because it doesn't involve real body so whatever happens between two adults is completely up to them.

Sex

Sex is not an adult word because it doesnt mean porn or anything like that. It is biological term

Shemale

- if gay is ok then shemale is ok too

Shit

- Oh come on... :) this is the term sl residents describe the new adult policy, so it cant be wrong word. I hear it all the time.

Slave

- slave has nothing to do with sexuality in normal terms. slavery is bad and it is a crime against humanity, people who engage in slavery today they are actually roleplaying. It has nothing to do with sex either.

Submissive

submissive - non-adult term to describe certain behavior or character of the person.

They can still use private islands, and restrict access, can't they? Of course there would be no one to advertise to on private islands........

Ok.. And you think the new adult content plan is going to help with that or not?

Probably not, no. Actually I don't think one darn thing is going to change. Kids are still going to get into Mom's purse and get payment info on file.

What we need, more than the changes they are suggesting, is a way to report parents of these kids to DCFS so they can go to jail for not keeping an eye on their kids. I'm sick of having to look after them, I should never *have* to ban them because they shouldn't be here to begin with.

Right on, and if they can say 'shit' on FOX at 9pm then give us all a break and grow up. This isn't sesame street. (I'm agreeing with you) ;p

Want a list?

I've heard at least 5 pre teen voices on Sl, in an adult Sim, with payment info on file. All they have to do is reach into mom's purse, write down the number, type it into SL.

And yes, I'm saying, keep the kids out.

If the kid has access to the parents computer and the parent has checked the start-up box box for auto login, kids can just launch SL and sail in world without even needing to sneak a peak at parents password book.

I wonder how many youngsters have gained access this way and caused havoc and dismay. So they don't even need to filch their parents credit card - if they just wandered around and kept their mouths shut no one would know - even in Ursula

This was on a network TV show, not a live news presentation. CBS' Chicago Hope use 'shit happens' for instance. There are lists of these things.

I got my very first Linden Bear yesterday. I'm very puzzled why though, as I didn't ask anybody for one?

This is by far the best description I have read yet. Don't trust any corporation whose interests are money with what is in their memos or press releases to the public. This needs to be investigated, the Lindens need to be questioned endlessly and our future as a group of people with common interests must be supported by US. The corporation will never have our best interests at heart. Make yourselves heard. This is not a form of hate, this is a form of progressive action that needs to be taken by the population to secure it's best interests.

Corporations acting unilaterally and driven by profit is nothing new, it is to be expected, at least until the Government finally decrees making profit for you and your shareholders is to be denounced as immoral and makes it illegal, but SL is a unique product. It's not a washing machine that LL makes and sells and we use as it is delivered, and any changes they decide to make don't affect the basic character of the product.

SL is a product that is almost solely made by it's users apart from the basic infrastructure, which itself gets a lot of free patchwork from the customers. They ARE the product. Never mind "I am Adult Content" You are Content, period. Without you, SL would be long gone or at best a stagnant Linden built RuthWorld. The fact SL is in the position that is motivating LL to take this action is due in large part to the very people they are showing such disdain for. :(

Most large companies won't hold real business meetings on a server that isn't firewalled from the public Internet with some kind of encrypted access (eg, point-to-point VPN) for users outside the connected intranet. Even giving people access to the grid's asset servers from the meeting is a bit dodgy.

I guess they're already in the loop on getting a land swap. Why should they care about all the people who can't?

I have no idea. I brought the topic up, because we hadn't talked in quite some time, and I thought it might be an interesting thing to talk about.

I really have no horse in this race, having no adult content on my land. I was just saying that apparently some adult vendors actually have been asking for this.

So a cleaned up SL still isn't useful for their "meetings"?

Let me quote that again, for emphasis. While we are right now, under a sweeping change to the character of the product for many of us.

You're right, WE are content and we will shape the world around us like LL wants us to. That includes voicing our opinions about the parts of the world they feel like pulling out from under us to swap out with something different.

good grief at Microsoft you had to keep a folder of fresh NDA forms on hand for every conversation. At Disney they made people sign agreements that looked pretty darn close to signing away your brain as intellectual property of TWDC.

And someone thinks big deep pockets companies are going to hold secretive meetings in the main grid? No. They won't. But they do hold various PR events inside the main grid. Some do anyway.

I have no adult content on my land and I'm still afraid that my horse is going to turn out to be a night-mare. People should be included in the swap simply by filing a ticket saying "I want to be included in the swap" no matter what's currently on their land.

very true... Its worth noting that when I was an IBMer and had unrestricted access to IBMs estate(s) the only meetings I ever heard about happening with any inworld participation were related to projects in SL. For anything "serious" it was either conference bridge calls or intranet-based IM chats.

The same kids can also just as easily dip into the parents' SS# or driver license and use it to Age Verify with Aristotle/integrity.

There is absolutely zero in all of this that will make a blind bit of difference to kids being on any part of the Grid - including Ursula.

The changes are aimed purely at sanitising the currently existing Grid so that people who want "predictable" can generally have it.
A problem for this search for predictability is that the people looking for it will be confined to the most unpredictable part of the grid, where they share space with unlimited numbers of unverified throw-away accounts.
The Ursula thing gives LL some measure of plausible deniability when granny gets attacked by a bling penis. That's all.

Some people's attitudes toward this sound eerily familiar: "This doesn't directly affect me at this very moment. Therefore I don't care."

This is about rights, weather you use them or not they should be ours to make the decision over.

Many others would simply need to remove a word or two from their land info or search tags and they would be fine on Mature.

Well ... my store is PG. It's on PG mainland by choice, because I wanted to avoid a repeat of the situation at my previous (mature) location where I suddenly found myself in the middle of hardcore sex clubs.

Now, I make and sell European songbirds. Tits, mostly. Great tits, blue tits, marsh tits, willow tits, varied tits, more tits to come. Assuming you want to consider everything mentioning "tits" anywhere to be adult, what would you have me do?

-- Move my completely PG store to Ursula?
-- Change my parcel description / classified texts / etc. to not mention any tits, even though they are one of the main parts of my business?

If I choose to be on PG land, and I choose to mark my classifieds as PG (i.e. not mark them mature or adult), then it's because my store is PG and so is the text of my classifieds. You're not really going to tell me that I cannot mention that I make and sell tits outside of Ursula or to non-age-verified residents anymore, are you?
