From: Argent Stonecutter What if the words are ones they CAN'T remove from their search tags because they are the ones that describe their plot, the ones their customers use to find them? Why shouldn't they be entitled to move? I never said that they weren't. In fact, these individuals probably would qualify.

From: Blondin Linden From: Taly Fluffy There is a difference between advertising a public party event, and informing friends of a private party event. Let's look at a wedding as an example.
If Jane & Bob run a land ad, a classified ad, or an event ad about their upcoming wedding on their private parcel, then they are publicly inviting strangers that they don't know, to come to their land. That constitutes a public wedding. It would have to conform to the Adult Content guidelines. (No adult content should be accessible at their event, if their sim isn't marked Adult.)
If Jane & Bob only send out IMs, notecards, and/or prim invitations to their personally selected friends, inviting them to their wedding, that's a private event, because they didn't run ads inviting strangers to show up. Private event - not publicly advertised - therefore a personal party where they can have a Wedding Reception Sex Orgy with their friends if they feel like it.
Correct, Blondin? Makes sense to me Can't say any of it's making sense to me, so far. In what way is the experience of anyone just travelling around and exploring going to be made any more "predictable" or "safe", when at any moment there could be something like this Wedding Reception Sex Orgy in full swing at the next place they visit? -- Aes

From: Matthew Dowd Well, if this page ( http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Search_keywords ) is accurate other activities which might land you in the adult continent include: selling or consuming a British meatball in gravy (also know as faggots). selling or promoting a slightly dated family car (Ford Escort) selling or keeping male hens (cocks) a fan site for an informant from the x-files (deepthroat) selling or promoting decorating products (such as paint stripper) fan site for birdwatchers (interest in blue tits etc.) etc. Matthew Or productions of the Mikado! "In a tree by a willow, a little tom tit cried 'willow, tit willow, tit willow.' I said to him, 'dickie-bird why do you sit, crying 'willow tit willow tit willow...?'"

From: DanielRavenNest Noe We don't know yet about where you would have to be located. I do know that in the 1.23 version, the filtered words are not used if "adult" checkbox is unchecked. So a search for sex bed, is reduced to a search for bed. The adult checkbox is *optional* if you are verified. It is *greyed out* if you are not. We need a very clear answer from linden labs about *use of words in search* vs *activity or content on your land*. If they are not identical, then we get the situation you mention, where you have something for sale, but you can't effectively advertise it to everyone. As far as the Gorean roleplay sims, the choice seems to be flag the sims as adult, or not to advertise it in search. That's cause of the repeated statements that "private land will not be affected". How you effectively find new roleplayers becomes the question. That's not my understanding; my reading of it -- certainly as it applies to my sims -- is that, because of unarguably "Adult" content on parts of them, I will have to flag the whole sim as "Adult" even if I don't advertise. Which I don't.. the Adult stuff is for me and my friends, and I don't particularly encourage others to use it, but people who wander onto parts of the sim uninvited may see stuff that offends them and I don't want to cause (or have) any problems. My take on the Gorean RP sims is that is that they'd need to flag as Adult content, whether or not they advertise, in case someone sees all these green dots on the map, tps in to see what's what, and gets upset about what he finds when he gets there. We need clarification, certainly.

I never said that they weren't. In fact, these individuals probably would qualify. Thank you for clarifying that. A number of people have been assuming the opposite holds true... that you would only be moved if you couldn't "paper over" the Adult Content. I didn't think that sounded reasonable, but I had to admit that it could be read that way.

From: Bhakta Thor Where does this leave residents who do not have a business, but have plenty of adult activity on their land? I have been trying to keep up with this thread and the other related ones but I have not yet seen any definite answer to this. I joined SL thinking it was already for adults, that is what I wanted and that is what I still want.
BT I think you have to look at this from the point of view of "predictability". Will there be a possibility that someone offended by the content will find it? 1. They find the parcel in Search. You might not have a business as such, but you might have your parcel in search as a social thing. Open house, drop in, enjoy. You can't have Adult words in the description to warn off the easily-offended. If they arrive and get offended, then you're open to AR for making Adult content available in a non-Adult area. You've broken "predictability". 2. They are wandering around and stumble across your parcel. They see your Adult content and they AR it. Who knows what an individual G-Team member might decide? They might say "Parcel not in Search", so no prob. They might say "Although not in Search, it's too easy to see it from the outside". That would be breaking "predictability". I would expect that any Adult content in non-Adult regions that is not indexed in Search and placed so that people can not see it without camming in would be classed as your own private business. 3. You meet someone(s) socially and invite them back. Or - one of them asks "Kewl, mind if I invite a friend?" Someone then gets offended because their "predictable" experience has been broken. What to do? When you invite someone, do you have to warn them that they might see some Adult content? You might have no intention of using the content, and mentioning its existence could be misinterpreted. If they in turn invite a friend, do they have to pass the warning - and the possible misinterpretation - down the chain? If you are a sensitive soul and are invited to visit a place, are you supposed to inquire if the place has any Adult content?

From: Aeslyn Dae In what way is the experience of anyone just travelling around and exploring going to be made any more "predictable" or "safe", when at any moment there could be something like this Wedding Reception Sex Orgy in full swing at the next place they visit? My guess: the wedding reception private orgy would need to be out of sight of casual view. For example, in a skybox or behind opaque walls*, in a parcel where the landing point won't dump you un-knowingly into the middle of the sticky stuff. * I know you can cam through walls, but Blondin has indicated that "inside buildings" is enough privacy to count as privacy in this context. Blondin: is my guess correct?

So so sad it is beyond a joke.
Yep, you are entirely correct. If we can see that, why not Linden? There has to be a true explanation. I think somehow they will make more money if they get rid of some citizens, there can be no other explanation. BT

From: Jamie David See the list of filtered words for example.....All sex related but where are weapons, guns, drugs and other "Adult" issues. Role Play. Killing and the like. Nooooo What about furry? Gor is banned but furry is not. PonyGirls are banned but not ponyboys.
So so sad it is beyond a joke. To be fair, just because a word isn't on the list doesn't mean it's unfiltered. It may not have been checked. I didn't check "Furry" or "Ponyboy". I've checked some drug terms, but haven't found any that trip the filter. I've not done much searching for violent or racist content. Edit: There's a list of words currently known to be unfiltered there now.

Let's place the blame where it belongs.

Why is it *our* job to protect the kids on SL, when it's their parents that should be looking after them? Why the heck is it my job? If you want to protect kids, don't let them go somewhere they might see adult content. I don't have kids, don't want kids, couldn't take care of them. If you leave it up to protect kids I will fail.
Don't want that? Then keep your kids away from me. Don't make it my job to look out for them.

From: Vania Chaplin That's the problem, Blondin.
One can "sounds mature" to you and other Lindens, and "sound adult" to other Lindens.
If my swap is denied, because my land "sounds mature" to the Linden in charge, will I be protected from AR's and possible suspensions, because the Linden that will investigate an AR seems that it "sounds adult" for him? This is exactly the problem. Lindens arbitrarily presiding over where how and who can go places and do things. If people can't take responsibility for themselves or their children, they will make victims out of all of us. Don't bend to stupidity and fear. This is ridiculous. Give us back our world.

I never said that they weren't. In fact, these individuals probably would qualify. I understood Argent's question to be one of Adult content actually existing on the parcel, and the search tags reflecting that content. In that case, what is this "probably would qualify" paleface?? What is this "significant" impact that would qualify one parcel, but leave other parcels with public Adult content as only "probably" qualifying?

From: Maleena Tiraxibar Still says im verified outside of game but not inside of game, AGE verified that is, I can only gues this beta thing is broken, Kind of annoying on finding out i was age verified all along to be told it dont see it. So more waiting and wondering 'will I be allowed to enjoy myself or will i be banished to disney land' I always knew walt disney had a evil streak. And I know its useless me sending a ticket as ive not got a permium membership, I was thinking about it till this came along now im not willing to give LL my custom, see its already having negative effects. I just checked our tools and you 1) look verified to me and 2) have your maturity setting set to Adult. You're good to go.

Thougt of another question
04-27-2009 08:31
This thought just hit me.... When I go to search "All" in world I get places that show the listing of the content. So lets say someone has a scupltie penis with sex sounds hud for sale and they have their vendor sign marked to show in search.... how will the new filter handle that?
Or even someones home.... lets say that someone went to the ursula land and bought that sculpty penis with sex sounds hud and it was purchased as a copy so that they had to take the sign home and rez it to open the box. They leave the box in the middle of their living room. It is set to show in search. Do they get AR'd for that? I mean..... hmmmm... something to think about.

More censorship -always- leads to a safer world.
Since we're making things up as we go along, as it sounds like we're doing, lets just have a camp for all of the "unclean" so those who might get offended never will.

Don't bend to stupidity and fear. This is ridiculous. Give us back our world. the main point here is that everything that Blondin has said so far flies in the face of the published draft policy on the site. Without any kind of explanation as to why LL feel the need to publish one thing and then completely disregard it puts all of us at risk of ARs when this is implemented. Until the policy on the website is changed, I'm working with that. If that's the official position of the company then there's not much else that can be said. Relying on Blondin's advice for anything "grey" is asking for trouble further on down the line.

Maybe a bit backwards...
04-27-2009 08:36
People keep talking about beating the filter... I don't think that's the point.
Do you really think Xcite wants kids in their Sim, and the potential lawsuits that come with it?
I think most places won't mind the filter, actually I think the opposite might be the problem. I know if I had a PG Sim, I'd find a way to make it just mature enough not to show up in the search, because I wouldn't want a lot of idiot kids running around in it. They're a pain.
