Upcoming Changes for Adult Content: Answers to Questions

Not acceptable. One of my Alts is a customer service/group inviter bot (yeah, pour all the time and resources into this needless task and not pay attention to JIRA issues for ScriptInterfaces to do group invites/removals/management, ignore something that really NEEDED and waste time and energy for this) and I REQUIRE a place for them to be IN-WORLD 24/7. Not acceptable by ANY stretch of the imagination. This MUST BE IN PLACE FROM DAY ONE OR YOU WILL BE "BREAKING EXISTING CONTENT".

Who decides if a resident can have a land swap to Ursula, the resident or LL?

If Ursula doesn't have enough room for all who want to or are chosen to swap to Ursula, what will happen for them?

Is there more land area planned for Ursula if there's not enough room?

Will people swapping get similar land, ie residential, business, quiet, beach etc?

Will LL buy back land for those who want to move from mainland to an estate instead or if they can't fit? If yes, how will the price be decided? If no, what can these residents do?

Often people I come across don't know about this change. When will this be announced on the opening screen of the SL viewer for the general public who don't read forums?

How are children kept from or banned from mature parcels or regions, who's responsibility is it if they happen to get on a mature parcel or region?

How deeply will AR's against people in mature regions on the mainland be investigated after this change?

LL has said that they will add regions as needed but they also _seem_ to say that the land-swap thing is a limited time offer and once that's over, you're at the mercy of the market. They've also said they're not going to to anything to prevent speculators from driving ursula land to 10x the price of pg/mature mainland, like speculators did on Bay City and Nautilus.


LL has said they will try to do this.

This is all about giving residents more choices, you know.


They're not. Since LL doesn't provide us with RL details, I can't see that it's our responsibility. I know I AR anybody on my land that says they're underage - not sure there's much else to do.

Wait.. You want more predictability?

LL will decide if you have to move. You will submit a ticket, they will look at what you have and decide. They said they will "try" to match people with a suitable parcel as best they can.

You can take them back into inventory if the original owner goes to the deeded item and undeeds it.

What if.........What if when they announce they are open to submit tickets that no one did?
I wonder what would run through their minds and how much they would panic...just a crazy thought...I'm a little delirious after reading for 6 hours....LOL

I can see it now...I'm chained up and being dragged by the Gteam to Ursula and one of them house moving companies has my BDSM club in tow...hahaha

My only question, still, is about what is seen in an avatar's Profile...I have seen explicit Adult content in profile pics (by the way, not offended)...will that be filtered as well? Or will one have to "Hide" those groups and remove those photos when visiting a PG or Mature sim?

I am probably in the minority, especially as the owner of an adult content sim, Velvet Thorn, but I agree that trying to create a “predictable user experience” (the buzzword LL is throwing around for this change). I think as with all good intentioned things from LL they are going about it bass akwards, but I will discuss that later.

I got to thinking about this as I was considering showing my mom and grandmother this crazy Second Life. Mom is a big girl, I showed her around my sim without any particular worry, trying not to blush as she noted a few of the odder bits. However, when it came time to show my grandmother around, (and I was so NOT going to take her to VT!), I realized that I just couldn’t do it. The woman doesn’t even like to see movies with cusswords in them. I tried to think of places I could safely take her and LM if she wanted to come back in… And at every turn I realized this 80 year-old woman I hold so dear was going to hit into something raunchy and be turned off in about five minutes. I found myself wishing there was a PG continent, where all of the places would be "Grandma safe!"

But, of course, LL is doing this all backwards, instead of creating a nice well formed PG continent and offering all of the businesses and organizations who currently have offerings in SL as PG free moves there they are doing the opposite. Come on LL get with the program. Create a continent for the Grandma’s and other straight-laced folks in the world. That’s what you are really going for first and foremost, a “predictable user experience” so instead of predicting smut first, how about predicting a cleaned up experience for those who want it.

Once the PG’ers are all moved and comfortable, THEN set the current mainland to 100% mature. THEN, and only then, start moving the X rated content out.

I listened to all the brown bag MP3s in the blog posts, and I can see the good intent of the lindens, I don’t really believe they are trying to make an x rated ghetto as some have suggested. I think they are just going about this backwards and, yet again, their poorly thought out priorities are going to kill land prices.

What happens the current mature mainland when people are offered the free move to Ursula? Do the Lindens take that back over or do people sell it? I didn’t hear an answer to this in the recordings of the meetings. But in either event, in the 90 day period they plan to roll this out there will be *millions of square meters* of land hitting the market all at once! HELLO?! Is anybody in LL thinking this all the way through????

What are the "qualities" it takes to be eligible for a land swap?

Original: (confused) "But, but... you just said that it was 'to make the Mainland acceptable' for them?"

Lotus: "Right. 'Acceptable.' Not that they'd actually buy land there."

Original: "Oh, okay, I get it: the suits will like SL better and buy more sims if we clean up the Mainland and get residents to move all their Adult content to this new continent."

Lotus: "No, of course not! Nobody will move there voluntarily: they'd have to give up their precious NPIOF customers. Never happen. No, we build a little continent out in the middle of nowhere, give conflicting guidance about what is "Adult", and theme it inappropriately (Memo to self: can't do Disney... can't do steampunk... maybe Jetsons?). Nobody will want to go there."

Original: "Oh, right: Then we move them forcibly! It's the return of the Cornfield, with tier payments. Cool!"

Lotus: "Are you being stupid on purpose? If we moved them, it would reduce the land we can auction."

Original: "But how can we auction land that nobody wants?"

Lotus: "Those fools will bid on anything that doesn't have burnt-out adfarms. Remember Nautilus: It's still mostly empty, and we made a mint!" (sinister laugh)

Original: "Oh."

Lotus: (stares blankly at Original)

Best post yet on topic. I worked for years in the entertainment industry (at a studio) and I overheard meetings like that all the time. I actually planned a post about how some hotshot young exec has all LL a-twitter NOW...and everyone else there either is figuring out how to drink his/her Koolaid, or is plotting the next great meeting pitch, wherein all the cubs are culled. Gotta love Corporate America. Barf.

Or, in other words, will that document be updated to match Blondin's words BEFORE or AFTER the promised transcripts for the Brown Bags arrive?

and
2) had full access (so exclude Deaf ppl, ppl who could not use voice bc they were at work, etc)
