From: Waterstar Eilde Logging in via the French portal ( http://fr.secondlife.com/) and following the link to 'Communaute' results in - guess what? - the English version of the blog ( http://secondlife.com/community/) and links to the English language forums. Only the account information pages are in the native language, and it seems that other non-English portals are the same. Unless you are a competent English speaker, therefore, you don't have access to any of the information or discussion being disseminated in the blog or forums. Thank you Waterstar Ok, Linden Lab, I urge you as politely as possible to make an attempt to make your policy change information available (clearly) to non-English speakers (and even better, Residents inworld who are still unaware of the detail), and before we continue as Residents to 'help you', in advance of you seeing an Accessibility lawsuit landing on your desk.

You're welcome, Professor!
Since this latest move by LL has been made available only to native or competent English language speakers, I suggest that those of us who speak more than one language make it our business to inform the wider community inworld.

So please correct me if I'm wrong
Vampires, Gor, BDSM, Nude beaches, are ok for the public if No one is having sex .
So far we have not been able to "define" any thing as "Xtreme" violence not even dismemberment ?
Strip Clubs are ok. Since they are on every Main street
No Public Art will be "Adult"?
There is No Plan in place for the relocation?
There is No set roll out time planned?
No one knows who is works on the AO Team?

I asked a friend (an Italian medical doctor in RL) if she had heard the news. No, she hadn't. Fortunately, she could read the English blog. Needless to say, she was furious.

From: Nany Kayo There are many, many kinds of businesses on the internet besides sex. Evidently, some of us here haven't noticed that. Yes and i run several of them. All of which we have determined will be badly hurt by these changes if they go through without any modifications.

Informing the wider community (2)

OK, so I've checked a bit further - the German and Japanese portals both lead to the English language Community/Forum pages. To find either from the Korean portal, you have to weave your way via the Showcase, so unless you're a bit of an explorer, there's a reasonable chance you wouldn't know they existed. Anyone have access via the Brazilian link, or would like to check it out? ( https://www.secondlifebrasil.com.br/) I'm afraid I'm not prepared to go through their restricted access login process (providing DoB, email address, etc.) in the interests of research. However, there's another big slice of the SL community that might not be too impressed!

From: Rayne Keynes Anshe Chung is one of, if not the most, successful land owner/developer in all of SL! Comments like that show your ignorance and your intolerance despite how loud you try to protest. I have never done the "escort" thing. I worked at a mall as customer service when I first came to SL. I now have a successful club that holds events EVERY night and draws 10-20 people each time, and DOES NOT offer sex of any kind. I also have a small business that pays the tier and allows me to develop new products. My whole issue is that be cause some of my content, about 25%, would be considered "adult", I now have to "register" through some age verification system and be forced to move my business, my club and my home to some other land. Just because some prissy ass debutante doesn't want to see something. I don't think so. I will remove my L$ 50,000 per month from SL first, at least half of that is paid in tier to LL and another 25% is paid as upload fees. I may not make much of an impact by myself, but get enough people like me doing the same thing and it will add up quickly. was..past tense. Sirux Mahoney who owns FantasyLand Estate is probably the biggest Landholder in SL right now with 800 + sims

From: Nany Kayo TLMars Bookmite, It seems I must use very plain language to communicate in this forum. It is almost as though many of the participants barely speak English. Points must be hard and sharp to penetrate the fog.
It doesn't seem clear to many in this discussion that there is any stigma against the sex trade. But in fact, there is. That is a hard, sharp reality, and it is the key motivation for this policy change.
Any pain that point of reality causes you is not intended personally. It is simply the point of this particular discussion. See, here. You start with self-righteousness. It is quite clear we are all understanding you and most of us speak english very well. In fact it would be great if those who don't could also get a chance to know what is happening. Your first paragraph was unnecessary and illustrates the point I made about why you are having so much trouble communacating with people. I agree once again with Lord Sullivan. I don't know that you are really seeing or understanding how you come across. We are in fact very aware of the stigma. Many are here in SL because here we were freed from it. We are aware that this change is motivated by PR. You missed my point. I am just as valuable an educator as you are. And deserve the same respect. Educatating people about the realities of sexual abuse & domestic violence and the recovery process is just as valuable as your own work. It isn't fair or right to pack me off to some red light district by force because I am an erotic artist as well as a teacher and recovery resource provider. Which I have been providing since 96 btw free of charge - ZERO profit. We were told the point of these threads has been to give us a voice and to assist LL in fine tuning this new policy so it could be applied fairly. Many of us have shared ideas and our opinions on where to draw the lines etc. We have asked simple and direct questions. We have for the most part been ignored. And, when we get answers they are actually not answers at all. You gave your opinion. You were asked by someone far more quailfied than I to follow up by actually participating in the discussion. You seemed to be avioding his very straight forward and direct post. lol /me heaves a sigh and just lets it go... Sorry Sindy Tsure. I will go back to waiting for our questions to be answered and not fill up the space trying to help someone understand why this policy change is discriminatory and unfair as you requested. I'll also be more considerate of the personal posts. It's just hard. I'm learning so much just following the posts and really starting to like people & make new friends. I'm not exactly forum savvy. But I understand that those posts are off topic. It's a learning process. Bear with me (or should it be "bare" with me?)

Move the PG content to its own continent.
03-24-2009 20:05
Well, heres my take on this whole fiasco. FIrst off, I have no idea what the real percentages are of PG vs Adult content. Frankly, I don't care. What I do know is this. Bottom line is the people that are spending the money here on SL, and I am talking the real money, not Lindens, are by vast Majority Adults. Simply put, we work for a living, and thus have money to spend. I would also wager that the vase majority of us Spending that money do NOT want our SL controlled it the proposed ways. These so call folks pushing for what ammounts to censorship are treading on rights that at least in the United States are protected by the constitution our contury is founded on. The Freedom of Speech, the freedom to choose, the freedom of beliefe. How easy it is forgotten the lessons of the past. That many of the poeple that came here left their homes in the old world to escape religious persecution. Yet what have those very same people done since they got here, they took the Indians land, they took the indians religion..... the lost goes on. Yes, some of you may feel this is a trivial comparison, but yet again, what this is really about is a small group of people trying to tell the rest of us how to behave, what we can and can not do. When will it end? When these so called Moral Majority have control of every aspect of our lives? Wehn the tell us what god to believe in, what person to vote for, what TV shows to watch, what games we can play, what clothing we can wear? Will the even tell us who we can talk to, or fall in love with? I say NO! I say to these people, stay out of my Life, MY RL AND SL Life. No one has the right to tell me how to live. To the Lindens, who most likely will not read this, I say stand up for the real majority. All the hard working Adults that spend money on SL, that pay your wages. You are a business, think like one! Are these few people gonna keep your revenue flowing when you cut off the rest of us at the knees?

From: TLMars Bookmite See, here... If you click on someone's name and select View Public Profile, you can set Ignore [person's name] Posts. This reduces the person's comments to a single line stating the person's post is being ignored. Very useful.

From: Deltango Vale I asked a friend (an Italian medical doctor in RL) if she had heard the news. No, she hadn't. Fortunately, she could read the English blog. Needless to say, she was furious. This is what i have been asking for since the start of this thread. Why doesn't LL have the balls to inform their community via a notice on the login screen with the initial Blog translated in all major languages. Still no real reply.....the best i got was a reply to my question to Blondin "don't you think its important to inform the entire community of this proposal as it effects everyone in terms of making a decision on verification. His reply was just 1 word ......"Yes" Anyway, you need to map Ursula.....there is activity on Ursula 80 sim, Ursula 56 and Ursual 57....looks pretty naff to be honest....they have buildings lined up together. I guess these are LL buildings because one cannot TP over.

Why doesn't LL have the balls to inform their community via a notice on the login screen with the initial Blog translated in all major languages. Y'know, I think the management of LL are probably really nice guys. Seriously. I don't think there is any conspiracy; I think the really nice guys at Linden Lab simply don't know how to deal with this issue. It seemed so easy in the board meeting, kinda like just another technical fix. We'll simply make the weirdoes go to another continent. What's the big deal? I swear, they are probably scratching their heads at this forum. It reminds me a bit of first year philosophy class in university when some student perks up and suggests that all the world's problems would go away if only we banned Plato. (Personally, I agree, but hey, I wouldn't take it on as a doctoral thesis.)

Nothing else I said in that post is diminished in anyway. I have lands with both Ahnse and Sirux....whilst i don't know Ahnse personally as i only deal with her Angels, i do however know Sirux. Both are smart cookies and very determined individuals. Dreamland took a big hit from the Open Spaces sims fiasco. ......they converted a ton of Full sims into Open Space sims just weeks before the Tier increases announcement......which led them converting back and selling off many Full sims that had loads of yellow on them. Ahnse was not amused and said it would take 3 months at least to recover from that (she said that in Dec 0 . I think she has around 500-600 sims now....she is not as big as Fantasyland!

TLMars Bookmite, Are you aware that there are nonprofits providing services to sexual abuse survivors and transexuals on PG sims here in Second Life? They won't be asked to move anywhere. Why would you? If you make the choice to engage in activities on a privately owned website that are restricted by the owners, you are not being discriminated against. You are freely making a choice to be restricted by the owner of the website. How dare you compare that to the removal of Indians from their ancestral homelands by foreign colonists. What a truly ignorant remark. I have actually shown you much more respect than you deserve. In any case, this forum is finished.

Yes, it never ceases to astound me that a company could blithely ignore such a high percentage of their customer base. I have friends who have unwittingly broken the new 'rules' simply because they have been uninformed. Unfortunately, as in FL, ignorance of the law is no defence against an AR. The ramifications of this latest move are far-reaching in many, many ways.

I have non-english speaking friends who have inadvertently broken the new 'rules', all because they had never been able to read them in their own language. Unfortunately, like First Life, ignorance is no defence in the eyes of the law if you get hit with an AR. I see this latest crazy proposal causing mayhem; LL can't even properly manage what it's already got.

When will this Troll leave?....she contributes nothing to the thread other than re-quoting the LL FAQ's
TLMars Bookmite - it doesn't pay to be kind...you afforded her more time than any of us here...and thats the thanks you got for trying to treat her as an Adult. Has anyone ever considered how many mentally disturbed folk have opened a SL acccount and are wandering around the grid unchecked?
