Quick advice needed: What to do if you get in trouble with Goreans?

Well, of course she could just AR them, but if there are "rebel Goreans" (a term uniquely both redundant and oxymoronic) running around Urth harassing people, they surely need to be banned from the real Gorean sims. SL Gor has enough trouble with their sims getting griefed without having random clueless a$$h@ts in Gorean costumes chasing about inviting it.

Just AR any harassing behavior, mute them, and be done with it.

Harassment is harassment, in any form, or in any "character".

Additionally, the few Gorean sim-owners I've met during the course of my lifetime in SL have been extremely reasonable, honorable people. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the folks that are harrasing your friend are rouge elements within their group. If your abuse report doesn't get you results, a respectful heads-up to the owner of the sim she visited might go a long way

This pretty much goes for any group as well.
-Goreans can be decent, but there are a-holes in the group that stand out.
-Furries can be decent, but there are a-holes in the group that stand out.
-Demons can be decent, but there are a-holes in the group that stand out.
-Vampires can be decent, but there are a-holes in the group that stand out.
-Humans can be decent, but there are a-holes in the group that stand out.

*smirks*

As Travis said, any group in their own lands (sim or jsut plot) can RP as they like. If you're there, you abide by their rules. Don't like them, leave. If anyone comes to your land (or a public place like a store, club, etc), and harrasses you, then AR them. While you ~can~ IM the landowner/buisnessowner, most times they have their hands full with enough headaches and don't need more. Just AR to LL. Then simply go on yoru merry way.

On the harrsessment; If it's jsut chat harrassment, ignore or mute as desired. I tend to ignore. Giving cutting retorts back can be satisfying for the short term, but I've found it eggs on the true griefers. Ignoring them is the way to hurt them the most.

If the harrassment includes pushing/shooting/spamming, etc, then AR every instance and seek help from those that can help you deal with such in a manner that follows the ToS/CS guidelines. Best advice for weapons/pushing? Sit down. On anything. Ground even. Makes the weapons useless. Also, if your friend has Premium Account, then use Live Chat for immeadiate help. This can only be used Mon-Fri 7-3 SLT. Concierage can get 24/7 help if you know someone that has that option.

And tell her to be smart and NOT harrass them back. Good chace they are playing the game to get her into trouble with ARing her. A standard tactic of griefers these days. Abusing the system to get good people in trouble by enraging them past rational thought. Don't sink to that level. Stay smart and use the system. IT's slow, and frustrating, but when it finally gets down rolling through the red-tape, your day is better for it.

Aen't there any Scientologists in SL she could send to Love Bomb them? (You wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy. Well...maybe you would.)

How are they finding her?

I don't think there is anyway to find her location on the grid, unless she has given someone map rights. Could it be that one of the harassers is an alt of someone she knows and has given map rights?

There's clearly more to this story than has been conveyed so far.

No stranger is worth that much effort given the provocation described.

When you find out the whole story, please let us know.

Maybe we need to form a Rebel Gorean Hit Squad, find these outcasts and return them to their natural habitat. One thing from reading here, if you ARE in someone's RP Sim, play by their rules or leave. Saves a lot of trouble

I have been trying to raise an army of furries to do just this! I currently have a squad of vixens armed with the latest in spork technology, just waiting to invade their sims.

Basically the problem is almost everyone gives away clues to where they hang out in their profile.

Your picture of your friend will have your home location on it (or theirs)

Your groups have group land that can be found out if they are open enroll. Even if not, you can go through their groups and find OTHER people in them who are careless with their picks.

For example-
You are an owner in Forums cartel it would be simple to find you.

Odd, when i was Chief Magistrate of three or four Gorean Sims, i never had a problem with Gorean males Listening to, or obeying my Rulings. At that time it was a matter of your knowledge, and discipline within the Gorean world. At that time, it was widely known that there was a Vast gulf of difference between a Gorean free Woman, and a slave. There has been an Influx of Gamers, and Role Players who see Gor as just another D&d and you get all the same irritating game nerd Archetypes among them. They Only use Gor as a Platform for their own prejudices, and do Not Understand the role of free Women in Gorean Society. As i said, it's one of the reasons i no longer associate myself with the SL game communities.

This is a good point.

Once they left their Gorean Sim and did their Gorean-themed harassment, they ceased being role players and became griefers.

She would be justified in ARing them for this sort of behavior.
This is as i said before. Mute, Boot, Ban, and AR.
These people have Crossed the line from Roleplay and entered the Realm of griefing Keep the ARs going until one or more of them gets banned.

Come to think of it, the seminar thing could be a lucrative business opportunity: she'll probably be in a room full of prospective Goreans, in desperate (and ill-informed) need of all manner of Gorean goods. So... collude with a Gorean freebie reseller (it's easy: just unpack regular freebie boxes, tart up the textures a bit, and pack them up again), and hand out notecards and a few free samples.

They might be using one of those Avatar Tracking tools enabled by a recently-created LSL command (if those still work). It only requires that you find her once, then you can follow her as she goes from sim to sim.

But frankly, I'm strongly suspecting that the "friend", and possibly our OP herself, are having us and the "Goreans" on a bit. It's hard for me to believe any group of folks, Gorean or not, would devote this much time to stalking after a casual encounter, without some kind of encouragement.

And that 'seminar' line ... stalking by ex-Hare-Krishna-Goreans ... ROFL!

I don't have the time or the inclination to make up stories to post on this forum. If you think I'm making it up, you're welcome not to waste your time in this thread. If you have knowledge that might be helpful, I'm happy to get it, but I have no interest in imposing on you if you think I'm a troll.

I do have a question. Have you or your friend begun acting on any of the advice in this thread - contacting Gor, ARing, or ... well, many pieces of advice. Results?

It's time to get extreme with them. She should put a picture (of anyone) in the "1st Life" tab of her profile. If that doesn't horrify them sufficiently, get some friends to hang around saying "where u from?" in open chat.

She has several different options.

1) Point and laugh. Unless she consents the most they can do is harass her. AR them
2) Mute them. If she can't hear them, then can't claim her.
3) Point and laugh. Always a good option.

Make sure she has a home location set. This will allow her to tp away quickly if she wishes.

Sitting on a plywood box is pretty much the way to defeat most weapons.

Just make sure when she sees them she points and laughs.

Note, I have nothing against Goreans, but to try and take it out of their little realm is a sign that this group of them is wound a little too tight.

Update: I have relayed all the advice you guys have given me. Apparently, she has decided to handle the situation by arguing with them until they give up. That's not what I would have done, but I hope it works out for her.

My female alt does have a mugshot photo of a meth addict she gives to people who ask what she looks like RL. :) Funny they usually tp away afterwards.

Keep logs, take screenshots, petition for harassment. The problem with goreans is they are not roleplaying, they will probably try to find her RL info, it has to be taken very seriously. Have them muted and banned of the lands whenever possible.
