Quick advice needed: What to do if you get in trouble with Goreans?

Just a point here: This is a mix of Medieval language with Gorean custom. Never saw "m'lord" or "thee" in any of the Gorean novels. However, it could confuse a Gorean with odd language so...could work *grins*

Don't panic!

In general, you should respect people's RP and try to avoid disturbing it. But this is only a social grace and part of being polite, not a law that's enforced. Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, it doesn't become OK for anyone to abuse or harass you just because you are on their land. The only hard-and-fast rule is that if they ask you to leave, you should, and if you don't, they can eject you; they don't have to have a reason for doing either. As a corollary to this, they can ask you "is it OK if I shoot/cage you?" and eject you if you say no. But they can't just sledgehammer through and shoot/cage you without asking (and in the absence of any visible sign that you want them to).

The worst that can happen legitimately is that she could be banned from the Gor sim in question, but if she doesn't like Gor, she probably won't want to go back to the sim anyway, so that will be irrelevant. If Goreans are hassling her at other times, AR them. Yes, it's quite true that making smart-ass comments in the middle of someone else's RP isn't a polite thing to do, and I can understand why the Goreans would be angry, but unless it's repeated harassment it isn't against the TOS and two wrongs don't make a right.

kitten and i got banned from one of the sims once...because we decided to have some fun by going there naked and running through the woods...kinda like being a runaway...and some girl didnt even rp it with us, just shot a cage on us and began lecturing us about how we didnt belong and blah blah blah...we tried RPing the capture even, but she was all stuck up and haughty...so finally it was...well then piss off, and we tp'd out...just as well, because we went to a "sorority house and knocked on the door and had a lovely RP with a really nice girl...she became a friend for some time afterwards..

basically she should ignore it..."appologize?"...jees...it isnt like she went and pee'd on the queen of englands leg or something...

John Norman wrote them, allegedly, as a parody of the Feminist movement. Was embarassed what was done with the idea but that didn't stop him writing them regardless.

OK so she wasn't rude. That's a COME ON in a roleplay area ... that passes for flirting to someone with a certain mindset.

QFT If that doesn't solve the problem, try an evangelical sim, a neo-nazi sim, a satanist sim, etc, etc. It won't be very interesting to watch, but the likely I-take-my-SL-lifestyle-more-seriously-than-you-do pissing match will probably clear up their interest in your friend.

What do you mean? Just because you recognize it as a come on doesn't mean my friend automatically knows what to do. She didn't know about serious RP in SL. How is the problem magically solved now?

As far as the interaction, remember I'm reporting it second hand. I don't know exactly what was said by whom because I wasn't there.

All you have to do with them is wave something reasonably shiny in front of them. It will put them into a trance. Then you can just run away.

Eeps ... I did the roleplay thing ONCE just fer fun ... I was bored - so I went in to a sim dressed as a "free woman" ... in order to have a little fun with them (Goreans). As it were, I was captured by the panthers tribe - and became one of their slaves ... and - erm ... had a LOT of fun. I started major wars (on poipose, of course), played innocent, and constantly tested the patience of just about each member of the sim. I got to stay completely covered because I was a "virgin." I didn't want to run around half nekkie. The behavior of the "regulars" disturbed me - its not something I personally could even roleplay. I eventually left because it got boring and ... the panther who's tribe I was in (she was a leader) seriously got pi*sed at me. So I had my temporary fun ... and when I caused wars (I tried to cause something every day) and everyone was captured in the tribe (but me cuz I would hide in a bed) ... then I would tp all my non-gorean friends into the panther camp and we would play with all the bongo drums and stuff ... hehe ..

Another friend and I *did* run nekkie once, on horses, etc., on a sim - and did the chicken dance or just ran around the goreans as they tried to "cage us". It wasn't in full role play then tho ... it was in the process of being built, so the rules were not currently being followed by anyone. I am not one to "purposefully" grief anyone ... but it was fun. Even made friends with one of the gorean males ... who laughed himself silly at our avies. Mine was puffing on a cigar.

Anyway, to the girl who is *having* the issues with the goreans - if they are following her to places OUTSIDE of their sim, and harrassing her - definitely A/R them. And mute them too - there is nothing that they can "physically" do to her in SL. Have her keep copies of her chat logs to turn into LL with her a/r report ... Do this *only* if they don't leave her alone. Have her *not* make contact with these people. The only way that I know that they could have followed her into another sim is if they offered friendship and she allowed them to "map" her. Otherwise, its just plain sheer luck that they were in the same place. Erm - unless she teleported to a favorite on her profile, that is ... like - if she had her home marked on her profile ...

There was one gorean sim for a while that claimed that you could not leave gor. If you were a slave you were always a slave until you deleted that account or were made free.

As ridiculous as that claim is, their authority ended at the sim boundaries. So there was no way for them to enforce their deranged concept of role play.

Which is the case here in this thread.

leave the sim and never go back.

If they IM her she should mute them.

If she does those two and still is harassed somehow then file an AR for harassment.

Just like you would anyone who was bothering you that wasn't Gorean.
