The best thing the Lindens could do is extend banlines to the same height as the build limit. Why should you be allowed to trespass on my land just to feed your flying fetish?

Yes. This is why geostationary satellites were invented - so that orbiting satellites would not trespass on other countries. ugh no. That is NOT the reason for geostationary satellites Plus you forget all of the satellites that are not geostationary, the best example of which would be iridium satellites. You can track them on http://www.heavens-above.com/ and see when there is going to be an iridium flare visible from your house. This is when the mirrors, which are huge on an iridium satellite, reflect the sun light directly at your house even at night. The resulting flare is a magnitude brighter then even Venus._____________________

It would be very nice to have zoning so that certain areas could restrict access and others couldn't. Many residents would consider your words blasphemy. I, on the other-hand, agree with zoning completely. I think the present continents should be left alone. After all, the people who bought land there had certain expectations. But then it'd be nice to have a new continent that is zoned and keeps the airspace and waterways open to all. To me it seems like the perfect compromise. _____________________

Jesse: Sling was applying traction to our pedal extremities. hahahaha Yes I know that both Chris and Sling were being facetious. Due to the fact that I am an Amateur Astronomer(notice the capital letters, which means I am less of an amateur than those that use lower case), I always love an excuse to introduce people to iridium flares, which cost nothing to enjoy. _____________________

I have a security thing in the middle of my house. It only works on my parcel, it's set to 10m and it has a 15-second warning. I tried doing without it for awhile but found that people would look for other avatar dots and I didn't want to get into discussions with them about why they shouldn't be in my house. The auto-warn handles that part.

When traveling, by air or water, if it isn't a ban line it will be a full parcel that'll stop you dead in your tracks.

What, because I don't consider a rigged vote legitimate? Over 10,000 members in the IAU, 2700 Astronomers at the conference in Prague, only 494 still in attendance at the vote, and almost half of THOSE abstained? This is the best user-friendly article on why Pluto is not a planet and what the present IAU rules are for planethood: http://www.universetoday.com/2008/04/10/why-pluto-is-no-longer-a-planet/ _____________________

This is the best user-friendly article on why Pluto is not a planet and what the present IAU rules are for planethood: http://www.universetoday.com/2008/04/10/why-pluto-is-no-longer-a-planet/ Pluto did not lose it's planethood... it's just now the largest and earliest discovered member of a whole new class of planet-things. They're even called Plutoids so that's a high honor. Turns out the whole concept of "planet" isn't as simple as we thought back in the mid-twentieth. If it wasn't named after Mickey Mouse's dog there wouldn't be as much popular outcry on this... _____________________

Would you feel happier if I set it to 20? Or do you just not like security systems period? I don't own, I rent -- but the landlord has a HippoSecure thing in every unit. I have yet to see a reason for having it on auto-eject. If I'm not there I know that they can't steal or vandalize anything so if they hang out it's because they like my taste in furnishings and I take that as a complement. If I am there and if a stranger annoys me and doesn't just go when I ask, that's what the blacklist is for. _____________________

Pluto did not lose it's planethood... it's just now the largest and earliest discovered member of a whole new class of planet-things. I don't believe it's even the largest any more. In spite of what Wikipedia says, larger ones have been discovered in the Kuiper belt if I'm rembering correctly. Heard this on an NPR Science Friday maybe. Anyone else heard that? Whatever it is, we'll being seeing good pictures of Pluto in a few years. _____________________

This is the best user-friendly article on why Pluto is not a planet and what the present IAU rules are for planethood There's no magic about the word "planet". There's no reason the Solar System can't have 20, 40, or 100 planets. Other than the fact that a small group of astronomers in Prague felt that gravity wasn't enough, the term needed gravitas as well. What's going to happen when we discover the first free planets, not in orbit around a star? We'll be in the odd position of calling objects larger than Jupiter "dwarf planets". _____________________

AFAIK, 10 seconds is the minimum and anything less and you can be AR'd for it. So-called "security systems" are just legalized greifing. _____________________

For the first time in my SL experience I have put general banlines up on my land in-so far as banning accounts who are not age-verified. It's my understanding that as someone on the mainland who wishes to have or display adult products or images, it is my responsiblity to have such banlines in place. Expect the banline/security orb issue to get much much worse on the "I don't want to move to the porn slumlands but I still want my bdsm skybox" mainland. Does the age verification thing work now? It used to be that turning it on in prefs kept everyone off of your parcel, age verified or not. BTW, never have and never will use ban lines. It's really kind of silly and pointless. I keep reading all of the excuses, but have yet to see one that couldn't be handled without resorting to ruining the publics view. _____________________
