alright, against my better judgment, i watched it. omg, how freaking gay it was! when the killer put the virus in the police department's network and they had to shut it down, why would they have to worry about getting back up so soon. everyone knows that LL does maintenance on wednesdays, and they always take longer than they say. also, where were the SL sounds? and why were there no poseballs in the gladiator arena.

one big stupid infomercial for SL. /me shakes head...

I'm sorry you went into it expecting it to be accurate, Winston. CSI doesn't exactly portray scientific investigation very accurately, so I don't think it's much of a leap to expect they wouldn't portray SL accurately either. It's TV, man. Take it for what it is. Relax, and just have fun with it.

I'm not a fan of using that term as an insult.

Yeah....very silly.... and not a true interpretation of SL....people will be so disappointed when they venture in for the first time only to find they cannot actually steal someones shoes... or do battle in a gladiator ring with their keyboard... or change their appearance lickity split without first learning wtf they're doing and dolling out some L's for the good skin.
But worse still was how Gary Senise has just lowered himself to television cliche crime drama.....he's such a cool actor....always loved him....but this was hard to sit through.
Infomercial is right..... the only thing it did was validate SL in a perverse sort of way... it was odd seeing it portrayed on a tv show.... but it was also kind of cool....the concept anyway. I think it would have been a lot more interesting had they stuck with the true SL venue... of course.... the show never would have progressed at such a pace in only an hour....what with lag & crashes and down time. LOL

I thought it was okay. I mean it's TV,of course they were going to take certain liberties, but as a whole I enjoyed it. Then again,I am a CSI fan.

It was about what I expected . . . except everyone was using voice. I guess it
would have been hokey to have everyone typing though.
Another thing - that arena/gladiator fight was a bit bizarre. I've never seen
anything similar to that in SL . . . perhaps I just don't get around much.
I thought they switched to World of Warcraft when we weren't looking.
I was afraid the show would make a mockery out of SL. Although we did see
the occasional 'eye rolling', it could have been worse.

Chill out, you all have to admit it that it was pretty cool. I think even tho they used a little poetic license, it worked well into the plot. We all know the limits of SL and there is no way a contingious plot could exist following reality.

The fact that the story was almost seamlessly blended together with "Real Life" was exciting in itself. (forgive me for grouping CSi with RL), but it was kinda fun to see a furry as an important character. LOL!

We may laugh at this later, or may regret that this ever happened, but the exposure is going to be the telltail.

I survived 57k users online the other night, lol, God help us! The next few weeks will be interesting!

Huh.. no surprise the critics are out in full force tonight.

I liked it. Besides the obvious things that differ from the real SL.

Also made someone else watch it who's never played SL or watched CSI and now they're interested in both.

You should know by now that things on TV are never 100% accurate. Still I personally thought it was entertaining enough that it kept me glued to the TV for an hour.

The only bad thing from it, the possible influx of more n00bs.

Oh, I don't know... what's not to like?

...the superfast response time...

...an avatar who'd been shoe-shopping carrying the shoes in her hands, dropping them when she gets shot by a griefer, and another avatar being able to pick them up and move them and look at them for clues...

...the most trend-setting avatar in SL walking with that stupid jerky newbie walk (in one scene)...

...a "calling card" being something that "avatars use to send messages" (last time I checked, that was for a link to people you'd exchanged Friendship with)...

...teleporting, and taking someone with you AT THE SAME TIME...

...I mean... I thought they captured all the stuff of SL PERFECTLY and got everything EXACTLY RIGHT...

I liked it. I think it cast a good light on SL.
Some quirks were shown, but were presented more as humor or quirkiness than as criticism. For example, shoes getting detached when you get orbited. Or coming back as an alt for griefing. It was all shown as just part of the SL experience. I enjoyed it thoroughly and have lots to say and think about it.

I thought the show wasn't that bad, I think I have Venus's dress.

Why did SL celebrity "everyone knows" make me think Aimee (the one on the right) ?

One big plot point though-

How is it that Duan Juan23 somehow not realize Taylor was a guy and was not interested and then 5 minutes later was a woman and he was - they had the same avatar name.

Thats what we wish SL to be...

a realistic combat system, a sports arena, more then 60 people in one place.

They are totally suckering the wrong people into SL....because that may be the SL of the future but right now why would they misrep people into signing up for something that it isn't.

I'm not sure whats going to happen as a result of it.

Right now, if you want to chase people around and fight people in an arena, SL is not the place to be.

Now people think you prob can get virus off second life and that killers and pervs are running around like its normal

I wonder how they expected a flood? The show ends at 11pm "on a school night" and Dave Letterman's on.

I'm surprised some enterprising young avi hasn't gone around the CSI:NY sims selling "Male-Bored" and "Female-Bored" poseballs to all of the ESC helpers hanging around waiting for the "flood"...lol.

If I remember correctly the producer said the main demographic for the show was senior citizens.

Probably doesn't help that the sign-up page won't load properly at all :p.

I know it's still early, but a TV episode is not going to revive SL. It will take stable performance, reliable asset servers, a real reason to go Premium, and an interface that is easy to use from the start.

I find CSI overly flashy and graphic for my taste, so normally I don't watch it. I watched this one hoping to spot products I recognized :P The blue fox strongly resembled an Extrovirtual tiny fox, but there were some differences so I'm not sure. I did see a large Grendel's Children dragon (desert I think it's called) in the background of one scene.

On the "celebrity" thing...Famous for WHAT exactly?
