This thread has been moderated and is on warning that it contains far too much trolling and flaming. ... Status quo for threads that Chaos starts.. I'd ask for a lock but I'm still interested on seeing if Chaos will eventually tell us what happened, though I'm fairly sure we already know. |

Still doesn't make it right, Sindy. Besides, no point in wasting the actual good discussion that came from it. _____________________

Oh, I'll agree, Sindy.. but it just sparked the discussion. Maybe we need a new thread?

anyway... my bank is investigating LL, and have refunded the "stolen" money, my account seems to be unlocked for now but it keeps stopping at "region handshake" and logs out. i had 2 call LL, they sound really funny on the fone, they have really strange accents and they dont like swearing, they wanted 2 send me my bank statement, and i blurred out my National insurance number (main ID number in UK)m then they told me 2 unblur it, fuk that, they have allready stolen money from me i'm not giving any more details on that 2 them All of the relevent info was on the statement, except my national isurance number and passport numbers. i smell something fishy here, so do my bank. oh well it seems like it might be sorted now anyway, althou LL are getting investigated by BBC's Watchdog (british broadcast television) it also cost me a fuckin 56 quid (real money) on my fone bill, i'm never ringing an abroad number again and i am PISSED OFF, it sis its free on the website |

You still haven't told us what your LindeX history and Transaction history show.
Now that they've unlocked the account, you should be able to get to that, right? |

They won;t look into anything unless they get a good number of complaints about it. For non-UK people. Watchdog is a TV programme that talks about scams and unfair business goings on. That's all it is. _____________________

They didn't like it when you called up and cursed them over something that you haven't even established is their fault? Surprising. Also, someone in this thread gave you instructions on how to make the call without getting killed on the price - Skype or something. Why didn't you follow those instructions.
I believe there is something fishy here, but not on LL's end of things. Your story doesn't make sense. Are you giving us ALL of the relevant info? If not, then please stop giving us partial info. It's rude. If you are, then it looks much more like your cyber-cafe adventure resulted in a breach in the security of your password that you caused, not LL. LL doesn't have some sort of hidden vendetta against you. Why on earth would they? There are thousands of active, non-bot, non-alt accounts. why would they pick you, and why would they pick your account to empty out? Wouldn't they pick one with more money? I know it's a lot of money to yiou, but it isn't to LL and if they decided to commit some heinous crime, why wouldn't they go for a bigger score? I'm not flaming you or picking on you or anything. Please don't take it that way. I'm just pointing out that your fixation on LL having stolen your money is by far the least likely possible scenario. In any event, I'm truly glad that you got your money back. It must have been terribly stressful to have your account emptied out. Best of luck and I hope it never happens again to you. _____________________

I disagree with that. LL stealing his money isn't a possibility at all, however slim. /me agrees. The real question, ignoring all the noise of his abuse of English spelling & grammer, his paranoia, his continued inability to understand that adult business people don't like to be sworn at and all that, is what's been asked since page one of this thread. What does your LindeX and transaction histories show, Chaos? |

Good grief, if you swore at the CSR as much as you swore in that post, I'm absolutely surprised they didn't hang up on you. I would have after the first warning of termination of call.
While I'm glad your bank cares, you weren't very cooperative with the LL rep, so they couldn't investigate the issue on their end. This means, if you were to take it to court for any reason, it'd be likely to be thrown out. It also doesn't help any criminal case that LL might have been able to put together against the person that did the hacking/whatever. Phone issue could have been handled using Skype, as was suggested earlier in the thread. _____________________

I disagree with that. LL stealing his money isn't a possibility at all, however slim. depends how one defines stealing I guess. LL orchestrated conspiracy plot to sabotage Chaos's life = 0% probability. LL Billing Dept. stuff-up is definitely non-null. Some other possibilities *cough*cafe*cough* are still much higher in my book. But the available facts still do not offer drawing any conclusion with anything close to reasonable certainty. ------ ETA: ill tempered manors one presents on the phone with any customer service rep (of any co.) can cause the call to take longer than necessary and thus cost more. just an FYI for no one in particular. _____________________

I disagree with that. LL stealing his money isn't a possibility at all, however slim. Well. You're right, actually. I shouldn't have softened it like I did. There's a zero percent chance that LL stole his money like he seems to be claiming. The only reason that it's zero is because it's mathematically impossible for it to be less than zero. It's like this. If I wake up in the morning and go outside to get the newspaper and I notice that someone has vandalized my front lawn - toilet paper strewn about, tire marks all over the place, eggs smashed against the siding, etc. My first thought is neighborhood teenagers. My second thought is it might be someone I've upset recently. I don't think it was the Canadian Army or aliens from the planet Zorgon or Adolf Hitler's ghost. Those things make no sense. LL choosing him for some unnamed mysterious vendetta and emptying his bank account - which clearly violates all sorts of laws - is crazy. If his bank is telling him that they think LL did something fishy it's probably because they want him to stop cursing at him and leave them alone. _____________________

Do y'all really think that he doesn't know the definition of stealing or that he doesn't understand, after being told (and banned?) so many times, that his use of language is more likely to cause problems than solutions?
/me takes one last stab at keeping the question that's gone unanswered since page one of this thread, the only real question left IMO, in sight: What does your LindeX and transaction history show, Chaos? |

Stealing requires 2 things. One is the act of taking something that doesn't belong to you, without permission, and with the intention of keeping it as your own. The other is knowing that it doesn't belong to you. Billing dept screwups don't qualify as stealing because of the second one. Something like that, anyway ![]() Precisely: A billing screw up is usually fixed with a few polite calls. If it is then not corrected, one could reasonably call it stealing. But it takes many many attempts at polite, reasonable contact before any lawyer would take up the case. It is far more likely that the OP was hacked at the cafe (which is not LL's fault) and if there had been polite, reasonable, communication between the OP and LL, then LL might have been able to find out WHO did it, fine them the amount of L stolen + their % fine, ban the offending parties accounts and the OP might have had the money refunded via LL. _____________________

Funny accents? You mean the American one, or one of the british? I've gotten both on the phone with LL reps. And you're right, they don't like swearing, because it's unprofessional and reflects badly on the person and company Anyhow, have fun. He's British, so I'm guessing he found the American accent to be funny. We have some odd accents over here, so I'm willing to cut him some slack on that one. I have relatives in (extremely) rural Virginia, and I can't understand a word that comes out of their mouths. All I've been able to ascertain is that they grow soybeans because the tobacco market has taken a dive and that they think professional wrestling is real and it is right up there with church in terms of importance. I was appalled to learn that The Big Show is no match for someone named Triple H, but comforted in the fact that this years crop appears to be shaping up nicely due to "that new hippie gasoline". Sigh. My family tree is a disaster. _____________________

Danged if I know what the heck they're saying half the time. lol - it was a lot like that, but add a mouth full of marbles and mumble a little more. On the plus side, I have never seen food like they make there. OMG. They fry entire chickens for BREAKFAST!! Plus homemade biscuits, gravy, greens with bacon drippings, desserts that just about make you pass out from joy. Slow smoked pork shoulders all shredded up on white bread and drenched in homemade BBQ sauce, sweet tea...my God - those mumble-mouthed weirdos are the best cooks on the PLANET. On the Boston accent - I had a guy that I worked with for a while from Boston. I always thought he was angry with me, until I realized it was just his accent. At the same job there was a guy from Texas. The two of them drove each other nuts because the Texan spoke so slowly and the Bostonian went at a mile a minute and neither one of them had any idea what the other was saying. The Texan took three minutes to tell the Bostonian that he needed to slow the heck down or face a potential pistol whipping, and by the time he was ten seconds into it, the Bostonian was ready to throw a beer bottle at the Texan because he was going so slow. Pure comedy. Absolute hilarity. _____________________

@Trout: I lived in Texas between 5 and 6 yo. Not enough to have the accent permanently, but at that age it's like learning a second language. Job I had up here later, my manger left and his replacement was *from* Texas. First time I actually had any lengthy 1-1 conversation with him I immediately (and totally unconsciously) slipped into a Texan accent. He glared at me like I had spit on his mother.
