the thing is, who`s paying for the land and who will get the money if it fails?
I think if we go into it with the assumption that any $L we donate is just that, a donation, then it does not matter. I say the officers will be trustworthy enough to dole out the remaining $L should things go south. Or let them keep it for their time, effort and liberal panties sharing policies.

the land in all will still be $100usd (30k@266+3.5%)

Several people have offered to pitch in L$ for the initial purchase; those of us who can't donate tier still want to help out, and for yours truly, I really don't care what happens to my initial L$ donation. If it tanks, oh well. I've spent more money on hair and clothes than I would by throwing in some cash.

Sure, but if Sarah is involved, she will find us the perfect parcel for the best price. Not caring if we are on granite or near spinning ads will give us a ton more flexibility and a better price. Do we care about the view? She is also the master (mistress?) of decking out steep land.

Even once theLand is acquired we will have to manage it, maybe expand it, whatever, so your expertise will be valuable. Consider your self an officer. *Looks at Chris. See to it Knave!*

also if wanted, i can offer some webspace for free for a small site or forums to post pics or what ever, hosted on a fast OC thingy cable

I was thinking more along the lines of Roadhouse/dive bar. Weathered wood, license plates and junk on the walls, a small stage, jukebox, beat up old bar and plenty of beer and fried food.

WooHoo !! a greasy spoon truck stop .
ya'll can count me in .

I'll join the group as soon as I can log in after work .

This could be a kick ass inworld resourse for folks with problems.

Ah, 10-4, I know you can't say "kick ass" on the CB. Back

I think that with objects, they will remain owned by the donor, who can take them back whenever he/she feels like it. Only fair.

Thank you.

My first post as Crab King: Lets plan ahead. Expanding later is harder than getting the full amount you want up front. That way we can be sure its all in one spot and on the same sim. I say we go for a 4096 meter plot as a goal if tier and money allow.

As of this typing, the group already has 3942 in donated tier.

My feeling is once it's rezzed or donated, it belongs to the group. Generosity and no expections for return other than good times alreadys seems to be the philosophy of this project. :)

Wow. As in already donated? or pledged (I have not donated my pledge yet)? Does that include the 10% bonus?

When we get to 4800 in tier* and have the cash, we can buy. Who do we donate the cash to??

*4096 plus 20% buffer in cash people take back their donations.

just join the Group. You can search for it in wor;d or ask an owner or officer for an invite.
ANYBODY that wants to be apart of this just needs to join the group. You don't need to offer anything but yourself, and your pledge to have a good time.

QFT. Nobody has to donate or volunteer. Just show up and have fun.

@Alicia: If people donate, they have no expectation of ever seeing that money again. This isn't an investment; it's something that people are doing for fun and to have a cool project to work on. That said, considering the amount of tier donated, I'm alright with holding off from going premium and donating some more dough if we need it. Oryx and I haven't talked about a budget yet, but I think we'll be able to raise what we need based on the responses so far. I already mentioned that I'm making an alt tonight to hold the cash so Cartel funds will not be co-mingled with mine. Oryx can do the accounting and I'll hold the funds so we have a double layer of accountability for that money. We'll keep it as streamlind and committee free as possible. PM either of us here or IM in world with anything.

Figtree had a good question. Do we care about view? The hangout is inside, but we'll have a group only sandbox to play in. View doesn't matter all that much to me, but that's just my opinion.

*Asks this question too* Who do we donate cash to? I know I am late coming in, but if I am welcome I would love to hang out and do a bit of a donation. My building skills are not going to be of use, but I hope cash will be lol

4968 including the bonus. Malachi donated half of that.

Just made my donation of tier. We now have enough to get a 4096. How are we looking as far as cash to make the purchase? And who is making the purchase?

And the people are always welcome to donate thier services to their Queen...... :p

I would heartily suggest the status of funding. is it a donation or is it considered an investment witha possible return? Please feel free to weigh in with trout and Oryx, but they have been charged with. all final decisions.

@trout

guess i missed the alt part :)
just thinking ahead as some might see it wrong and will moan at the end with "but i did this or that", personally i don`t care 1 bit as it`s like u said, donated, but some don`t understand that concept unless it`s written in black&white (and white&black or any other rainbow color^^) ;)

It has been my experience that if it is seen as an investment, all the fun will be gone and the drama will start. Donations only IMO. So who do I donate my $L to?

One thing I have a question about...or concern, is if this is really open to *all* forum members. Some people rarely post (rarely, sometimes, often, here n there etc) but might not know if they are welcome to join in at the group or meetings...Im always gun shy about jumping into groups with both feet, but seem to do it anyway until Im told to shoo!!! All of the ideas and build and land etc, great, but I think the point (as stated a few times in the thread) is to have fun and hopefully welcome new people that come to the forums too. If I want a place that isnt welcoming, there are dozens in world already, I hope this wont ever be like that and that it IS just simply fun! :D

And Ima stand here holding this cash in my hand until I find out where to send it... *blinks*

I just read this thread. I'll throw in some $L's towards it. Don't have any available tier to donate, or land as I'm using what I have, but will be able to contribute money. Just let me know where to send it, and I can get it there early next week.
BTW, Brenda, could you or someone please send me a group invite. I may not be inworld until tomorrow a.m., but would love to join the group. Thanks, this is a great idea!

We're working on the cash angle now. My thought was that when Sarah finds us the property, we pay her and have her deed it directly to the group. That way we don't have to chop it up into 512's or have a bunch of people trying to make purchases. Will that work?

As for the cash, I will make an alt tonight. CartelTrustAccount <insert last name>. Donations can be made to that account. Please don't send money to myself or Oryx. Maybe it's my RL profession getting in my way, but I would really like to avoid co-mingling my personal funds with group funds. The CartelTrustAccount will have no other purpose than to hold funds for the purchase of the property, operating expenses, etc.

Oryx was tracking how much was being donated and by whom, but until we get the alt set up, we need to hold off on actually sending funds.
