From: Bradley Bracken Personally, I love the sandbox idea EXCEPT that there are no restriction regarding who can join the Cartel and obviously we want to keep it that way. That makes it to easy of a target for griefers IMO Good point Bradley. I'd like to table the sandbox idea for now, until after Sept 20, when we get an idea of how much land is available. Alicia has previously graciously offered her sandbox for anyone who wants to use it.

From: Brenda Connolly None of that Creator vs non Creator crap. you can donate money, tier, time, or nothing at all. You may only have ideas, sometimes they are the most valuable. You may have a kind word for a newbie that wanders by. It doesn't matter. Any of that class warfare bullshit and my wrath will be felt, So shall it be written, So shall it be done....... Cool. So we have two classes. All of us and Queen Brenda who enforces the no classes rule. Just kidding. This is exactly correct. It doesn't matter what you do or if you do nothing. This is a fun project for everyone, and if your contribution is hanging out and enjoying it, then that's just fine. Luckily, I haven't seen any indication of people being held to different standards based on their contribution. Since Oryx and I are hammering out the details and coordinating the project, we'll keep our eye out for that and nip it in the bud. Considering the people who are volunteering to donate and help out, I really would be surprised if it became an issue.

I do also have truth or dare and spin the bottle. And trivia can be done without anything but someone to ask the questions. And Brenda is right any of this creative vs. noncreative crap will get people kicked. If we have the land, we could do two buildings. One PG and one mature, that would cover Mari and anyone else who wanted to be in a "safe" enviroment.

Neat project! I can't offer much, but I am a programmer, and I want to learn LSL, so if there's any custom scripting required, I can give it at a go...
Love.

Trout, you haven't been on the Forums long, but every so often we will get a "creative" type come on and start in about how all of us who are here for fun, sex, money, flying bi planes, pie, etc. are ruining the pure and noble vision of what Second Life was meant to be.

Alicia has previously graciously offered her sandbox for anyone who wants to use it. that sandbox is other resident`s land i`m keeping a tight leash on behind the scenes as they have no auto return set sandbox or not, the club/bar land IS under the same treath so here`s my suggestion new group for cartel land: <insert name here> public: object creation/entry/scripts enabled autoreturn: 60min building: holding group (cause of autoreturn) new items being places by others: temp group invite this way nothing changes but the land and group are secured against griefers any attack can be squashed down with the holding group disable all land options and return items if needed allowes ppl to rez vehicles or come in 1 rez temp items for showing or what ever allowes scripts and targetting the cartel group has no meaning as it`s just informal and the real group closedup to invite only basicly how most clubs do it might be "another" group and more roles crap but don`t see it an as unnecesary(sp) step for some extra security and peace of mind

Did I miss a memo? Is it in the LL employment guidlines? I'll keep my eye out for those people so I can point at them and laugh. I love the creativity and the artistry that I've seen on SL, but come on - Biplanes, sex, money and pie ARE the pure and noble vision of Second Life. Except without the "pure" and not so much "noble".

And then, ten minutes into it, it all began to fall apart.
Here is my suggestion because I see things are already getting interesting (and not in a good way): One week from today we see how much tier and money has been donated. Then we create a fun hangout and deck it out with things that make a hangout fun. Sandboxes, slingo, sex balls and sailboats can all be found all over SL.
This is about socializing, not granting a wish list for everthing you could ever fit on a 4096 plot.
Just my opinion. I defer to the Queen.

From: someone If we have the land, we could do two buildings. One PG and one mature, that would cover Mari and anyone else who wanted to be in a "safe" enviroment. I strongly recommend that limitations come from consensus and not rules. I've seen plenty of places where people could use an occassional heartfelt expletive without offending anyone, but in a (largely) textual space, piling the obscenities on is obnoxious and gets sorted out by social pressure. I also think there is a rather bright line between mere nudity and sexual conduct. I don't know what the quoted concern is, but generally, if you allow the most easily offended to dictate the actions of others, you'll likely wind up with a club that no one goes to. SL is by its very nature "safe". If something offends you, press Ctrl-Q. If something offends you repeatedly, pursue social means of making things more to your liking or simply choose not to go. I'm no puritan, but neither do I want sex beds or toilet mouths. There are other places to find those things if you want them, everything else should be per implicit mutual accord.

Mari is a child AV and is very self restricted on where she will go. She has also been in the group from the start. I would have no problem with her coming to the main part of the clubhouse, but since the ladies are already planning a Slindendales night............

Just my opinion. I defer to the Queen. What did I miss? All we're doing here is brainstorming. We then take these ideas, compile them together, toss the ones that don't fit or don't work right, put together a general concept and let Inc and Chris do their stuff. Once we do that, we tweak it as time goes on and things change so it maintains the character of the forums. If we have until next Thursday, then Oryx and I have plenty of time to compile all the ideas, take input and put our heads together and come up with something worth presenting to our builders.

From: Brenda Connolly It's good to be The Queen. Reminds me of a delightful passage in one of Lois McMasters Bujold's books. The heroine, resident of a democracy, is marrying a man who's high up in an aristocracy. She's nervous about fitting in. Her friend tells her, "Don't worry. Egalitarians do just fine in aristocracies...as long as they get to be the nobility." But this hangout is reminding me a lot more of Mary's Place, from the later "Callahan's" books by Spider Robinson. Can't wait to hang out there.

It was the slingo that set me off. slingo or Figtree, you decide. Seriously, sounds great, Trout. Just the title of the thread said Forum Hangout. I was sticking with that theme in my mind.

Both Figtree and Malachi make good points. All the neat stuff we want to put in here is possiblities, nothing more for now. And since Mari is one of our first members, and chooses to play a child character, we have to make sure there is a place for her. Especially if the verification scheme come to be. Of course we will look for input from all members, but I want to try to acommodate everyone as reasonably possible.

From: Annabelle Babii My castle and graveyard are always open to visitors. Come on by! Yes, and my house in the hills with its own lake, and surrounded by Straylight products is also availabe for any and all. 7552 meters. Just noting. Could never figure out fish though, so the lake is empty of life (though, there was something that looked like a factory on the other side of the lake, so I just pretended the fish all died; that factory is now gone - which reminds me that I need to put something up on that side - was using the wall of the building as something blocking off access to the lake on that side).

From: Lindal Kidd Can't wait to hang out there. Me neither. I recommend we move the contribution deadline up to Monday midnight SL time. That'll give time for plenty of contributions to be in ... today is Thursday ... and not enough time for momentum to be lost or endless analysis and brainstorming to set in. After all, what are we talking about here? A 4K lot with a cool hangout on it? EXCELLENT!!! Let's do it! If it works out well, then we can, later, get more ambitious.

ok, i'm confused--and please pardon my ignorance, but i've only been here 2 mos and still don't know who everyone is. But, the previous post stated that Mari CHOOSES to play a child avatar--so is she over 18 in rl? and if so, what is the problem within sl with her being a child avatar? Sorry, i guess i'm clueless when it comes to this.

Agreed to the above. Like we've all said, this is for fun, all are welcome, the fewer rules the better, but we do want to make it fun for ALL. SLingo's out but there are tons of other games out there.
I'm with Malachi in that "rules," per se, bog shit down and make people angry. If we want a safe area for kids, we put one in. Adults are presumably just that: adults. Don't wear your primnis in the safe area. Pretty simple.

It's not a problem per se...people just want to be sure that Mari will be comfortable wherever we end up in her role as an SL child.
