But I dont think this project should be big. Simplicity is the best way to go. You may have a ton of cash and tier available, but scaling down so that the last two survivors left can support the thing when everybody else says "screw it" and bails, is the key to its longevity. As for style of the build, once again, simplicity. You have some strong characters in this group, let the patrons of the establishment set its mood, its theme, by the grace of them being there and interacting. You dont need a 'biker bar', or a 'circus theme', or an 'underwater little mermaid' motif. Once you establish a theme, you run the risk of excluding people who dont appreciate that theme or whatever, (i.e a five year old may be more likely to be found at a diner than a bar, a drunk may be offended by a diner that doesnt serve booze) We just need a place for a group of people to sit and talk . Park a soap box in the corner, a few trees, maybe a wading pool, and your all set. Overcomplicating is the destroyer of visions. Just a thought. You may now proceed with your Michael Bay Dolby THX version of a clubhouse

Agreed, Winter. I think we've decided to maintain a reserve of roughly 20% of the available tier donations just in case people have to pull out, or decide that they hate the group, or whatever. I think this probably WILL end up being a fairly simple build, as the initial plan was just for a "hangout." I'm not foreseeing a Gardens of Apollo, and probably not even something on the scale of The Shelter. Just a fun spot to chill, you know? If it ends up being "roadhouse," "speakeasy," or what have you, I think that the nature of the build will restrict how crazy it gets.
![]() I'd like to propose a meeting on tuesday night, once the final donation deadline has passed on monday. I'm going to talk to Brenda and Chris about sending out a group notice; we can talk about meeting times, etc in group chat. I know this will cut out the European gang, but let's try to work something out to include everyone as much as possible; maybe a second meeting wednesday morning, (for those of us that can make it?) _____________________

this meeting scheduler will allow you to enter a variety of cities into the form, then their local times will appear within a table. then you can work out a good time for everyone.
dont forget the far east. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/advmeeting.html _____________________

a meeting? Horrors!

I'd like to propose a meeting on tuesday night, once the final donation deadline has passed on monday. I think we've delegated the authority to make a plan to the project team, that team being: Oryx, Trout, Figtree (administrative) Chris, Incanus, Malachi (creative) If you're proposing a meeting of this project team, fabulous, go to it and ignore the rest of this message. But if you're proposing a general meeting of the cartel, why? I don't think this team needs any more input from the general membership. I mean, this thread is already about that, and it's immense. I recommend the team make a proposed plan and write up the salient points in a notecard (that'll keep it nice and short). Distribute the notecard inworld and post it in a thread. After discussion, vote. If vote fails, make a new plan. If the second plan fails, give up and don't do the project at all. The plan should contain at least: -- size of parcel -- type of parcel -- number of builds, their purpose, their overall styles There will also be questions as to what to do with any leftover money/tier. That, however, is outside the scope of this one project and should be decided by Forum Cartel leadership (Brenda, Chris ....), after consulting the will of the membership. How's that sound? |

I agree, that a general presence is not needed. The Team will meet and put everything down and then it can be released to the membership for discussion. As far as left over funds go, Chris and i have been discussion that situation, and have several options on the table, most concerning returning them to the membership.. Keep the feedback coming, preferably please do it via an inworld method, let's not let this thread become too much of a nuisance. Side note, for those who weren't there, Cherry threw a hellacious 9 Hour Grand Opening Party at her place yesterday, and she deserves a big cheer. Sjhe worked her tail off in recent weeks, in spite of a lot of outside distractions, and I think she should be proud of her efforts. Please drop by her place for some shopping , dancing or a little.....pie whenever you get a chance. And I think the yardsale is still going on as well. _____________________

Just for further public discussion before the meeting: I propose we get a Class 5 mainland sim 4096 meter plot of gently sloped green land in a mature area with nice surroundings (no ad plots next door, no steep granite). 4096 gives us the prims and space we need without worries about future expansion. Also I would set a price ceiling of L$7.5 per meter. The market continues to be flat and we should be able to find several plots as I have described them for that price.
Any disagreement or issues with what I am proposing for the land specs to give Sarah and myself so we can begin to search next week? _____________________

For those not in world, Nina Stepford has joined Marty Starbrook as our 2 Officers at large. You can bring your concerns and suggestions to them, and me for distribution to the Team. We are Planning a team meeting for Tuesday, TBD, to see what we have, after which we will let you all know. Please try to keep debates on this out of the froum, communicate directly either here or inworld. TYVM.

Just for further public discussion before the meeting: I propose we get a Class 5 mainland sim 4096 meter plot ... Brenda, I see no reason why it would be burdensome to the forum for a single thread to be going on about this project at all times, until the grand opening party happens. It could be called something like: "Cartel Project 2", where 2 is a number that can show continuity between threads, if needed. We may want to abandon each thread at either a reasonable breaking point or at 300 posts. If Strife doesn't want it in RA, s/he can move it. Keeping a thread in the forums enables team members to quickly poll the membership, as Raymond has just done. It also makes for transparency, always a good thing in a group with shared resources. Ray, I would suggest that you start such a thread, with your last post from here. The first concrete proposal! YAY! |

I don't mind a thread, for general banter like we've been doing, I just think that any real debate should be carried out amongst the group members. Not everyone here is interested in this project. But a general info thread is fine. _____________________
