From: Nina Stepford we seem to be hung up on the idea of a bar and dancing and whatnot. this is a great opportunity to create something more than that. tower of prims, nci, etc are examples of builds with a greater purpose. it is possible to do something other than a bar/danceclub while still embracing the social aspect to it. I'd say yes, but later. The sandbox for forum noobs was a gesture in this direction ... I at least thot it would be a great place to center some teaching. Also, there's this thread: /327/5f/208701/1.htmlWhich I will indeed be moving on within the next couple of weeks. RL outside of work a little busy just now. From: Annabelle Babii One thing I want to suggest... can we put a tip jar in for Strife? S/he puts up with a lot from us.
I know, but could it be thought inappropriate for hir to take anything from forum participants? You know, conflict of interest/bribery (lol, like there's anything we'd like hir to do for us other than stick around!)

From: bilbo99 Emu .. but if you think I'm going to stand on stage 'strutting my stuff' with Egon you gotta be joking .. I have enough to put up with with his laundry out the front! .... sorry bilbo. the laundry keeps blowing off my skydeck. just chuck it into the pond. it'll be "out of sight" and i can gather it up later.

Fried squirrel - probably pretty good with butter and garlic...
Possibly, but in this case the scent glands or "kernels" were still in place and thus would ruin the entire dish and the pot you serve it in. Ask not how I know this. #*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*# True, I think in time this could grow into a multi-faceted resource for socializing, education and creative synergy. But for now I think providing a space where avatars can just get together and hang out is a great starting point. That will result in conversation, connections, ideas. The rest will evolve organically, or not, as participants so feel inspired.

No tip jar for Strife. As much as we all love hir, this would be a big conflict of interest. Strife is of course always welcome, as is anyone in SL, but we can't have it look like we're trying to be "teacher's pet" or to convince Strife to be lenient in the forums. Good idea, but no go.

Happy Birthday Oryx *hug* How about one for me on the proviso I get MORE of them locked (while getting ARed in the process)? Warm hugs for the Ice Queen.

Join the Forum Cartel group 3Ring, and be sure you have the box to receive notices checked (it is by default). You'll get a pretty blue notice when the hangout opens! The notice is also sent to email if you're offline (if you use the IM-to-email preference).

*no, not mick. ace. For you, I'd go 2003. BTW, post 2001 actually answered a question for a resident seeking help. This joins #56, 456, 789, and 1243 as the posts of record where I was actually of some use to another resident. No wonder you guys made me an officer...

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all!
My head is splitting today... 3 martinis and a couple of glasses of wine will do that to a girl.
/me wanders off in search of a Diet Coke.

I don't know Fig, that is a pretty high Help/post ratio, you need to work on lowering that some.

/me wanders off in search of a Diet Coke. Sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday! Just had a non-martini (orange bourbon) and the wine is breathing as I type. A glass shall be lifted belatedly for you. And then one for the Forum Cartel Meetup Place And one just for the heck of it

From: Bradley Bracken Trout, the AA group in SL has been through all of this. Creating an alt to hold all funds and such. If you would like me to put you in touch with someone who can share their experience on how it was handled, just let me know. Second Pride also went through this, and used an alt, with the Lindens' blessing, to hold funds, as there was some very substantial fundraising. I'm not sure who at LL to ask though. You can see the details of how it worked at http://groups.google.com/group/sl-pride-2007.

From: Chris Norse The Forum meetups we have had up to this point had plenty of conversation. A couple of them lasted for hours. What kind of tin cans and kite string are you people using not to be able to run anything else with the client? I am on a 3 year old HP with Comcast (you have service when we feel like providing it) internet. I can run the client, Firefox with 3 tabs, and WMP watching a movie or listening to music all at the same time. And I live out in the freakin boonies, my power and cable go out all the time with the explanation of "There was a possum in a substation." OMG LOL, I have good Comcast broadband, but my little box only has 512 in system memory. And my nVidia card only has 64. Miraculously, SL plays pretty well for me, if slowly when I shop. No ripple water I'm scared of Windlight, since even though I know how to put in another video card I just don't want to yet. So SL plus a browser can cause SL to crash for me, after it slows down and locks up.

My machine can't get Windlight or reflections but using the latest drivers I can log in 2 instances plus be able to browse the WWW or even use PS and then upload the TGA without crashing or having to re log. maybe the extra 512 ram makes the diffrence .. I'm running 1024 and rarely have a problem .. and trust me I do push it sometimes.

What's funny is that the only time that I have problems is when I'm running SL, 3 tabs in Firefox, The Gimp, and THEN I open up the clothes previewer, slcp. For some reason that thing just hogs memory.
