I think I am going to have to wait until Sunday anyway. I owned 2560m of land this month,so my teir is already 15$. If I add another 512 it will go up to 25$. I can't afford that and the premium, plus the 3kL to buy the land. So hopefully, you guys can wait till Sunday for me.:o

Do they actually bill on Sunday? Maybe they will bill me tomorrow instead.

ETA-More like my husband would kill me,not so much not being able to afford it,lol.

I joined the Forum Cartel last night and put 2048m tier into the group land. I await instruction on where to send a quantity of small, unmarked L$.

As I said last night, i'm willing to offer 512 if needed. I'm also, premium but a renter. Or lindens, whichever---but put me on a list so i'll know what i'm looking at. Thanx

The REAL question is whether Chris and Bodhi are willing to strut their stuff...

Bikers don't build bars. They don't buy bars. They 'adopt' them.
.... My point is as Wilhelm and Rioko point out, there is a plethora of places out there already. Vast and beautifully built places. They just need people in them.
I think that in any rational world, bilbo is completely right. Any owner of a great build with a serious echo problem would be more than delighted if we simply said "let's hang out HERE".

After a while of doing that, they might even be willing to change the look to whatever we wanted. And we then could probably rope them into special projects -- maybe a small sandbox for new forum members to build in (largely deserted but that's how you want a sandbox to be), lalala. I wouldn't be horribly disappointed if the group decided to go this way.

Of course, who said Second Life should be rational? People who aren't already drowning in land issues are thinking this would be fun and want to donate time to put it together, so why not? But I'm hoping that we can all have a laid-back attitude about this joint property. I'm setting rules for my own attitude like:

1. THIS IS FOR FUN. If wrestling matches happen about what the build should look like or what the land should be used for, I think we should just stop and sell the land.
2. Any L$ spent is a gift. I never see it again, and if we sell the land, I'd agitate to give the profits if any to a Good Cause. That way, only people who can afford to wave bye-bye to the cash contribute, so no one is angsting about land values or "getting their money out" if they leave the group.
3. The purpose here is to create a place to run into each other, not to create a build that symbolizes the unique spirit of the cartel or to showcase our pooled building talent. It's OK if its a boring build with bad textures. (Tho I permit myself to hope that its instead a quirky and fun build. Wouldn't even mind if it changed constantly.)

/me takes out a meditation pillow. Ommm ... ommmmm ... be mellow about this .... ommmm ... plan to laugh a lot about how it turns out .... ommmmmmmmm

I have spare land (quite a bit of it) that I'd be willing to permanently donate if this pans out into something that happens.

Yes, its true we could all hang out somewhere that exists, but we don't do that no, do we? The logic of creating a new in-world hub reserved for forumites is precisely based on the idea of having a forum-specific venue, rather than arranging for meet-ups periodically in an established one.

One of the things I liked when we started the Forum Cartel, was the informalness of it. The concept of any member calling a meeting at anytime at anyplace. The lack of any specific group agenda. I never liked the idea of Group owned property or funds, given the possible transitory nature of SL. Someday the group may go belly up and what do you do? An "Official" group build brings all sorts of conflicts to it, in terms of location, style, even theme. Most committees I've experienced accomplish little more than wasting a lot of time. If this is what the membership wishes to do, no problem. But I am going to abstain from any input on this.

I totally agree with what Nika has said. I myself, am donating in the spirit of not expecting anything in return, even if it goes belly-up. I have it to spare or I wouldn't have offered. Those who don't, shouldn't. Nothing can ruin the overall fun of this adventure more than arguing about money or land, after the fact!!

No sense starting a new one, we are up over 60 members now, most of them regulars here in the forums.

ooops, my bad.
OK...we can at least have a contest to name the bar, anyway!

/me runs off to join this mysterious Cartel thing.

I'm late to contribute to the topic--and I haven't read all replies yet--but yes, I'd be interested in not only offering up my skills, but hanging out as well.

Cool idea.

There's a forum specifically for in-world based group discussions here on the website.. I'm guessing you tick the "publish on web" box in the group info, and it gets created here? Strife? It'd be a good place to have general Cartel related conversations here in the forum, without taking up RA space.

Except ..... that .. and I mentioned this in another thread somewhere, that I'm sure I'm not the only one who only scans this one forum. If most of us disappeared (worst case scenario of course) to the other forum, people posting questions here will get a lighter reception?

I'm just throwing it out there as a tool to keep Cartel related events and conversations organized into a place where they're more fitting and on topic. Not suggesting we all migrate over there and abandon RA altogether. Pretty sure you can subscribe to forums here and receive email notification of new posts/threads as well..

Well, whenever Trout gets on, he can put up a poll with this thread. I'd suggest that the choices be:

1) Buy communal land as previously discussed
2) Accept Victoria's offer as long as she's willing to deed to group. We can all pitch in tier.
3) Forget the whole thing

I'm personally leaning toward 1) as there are several of us who've already stepped forward to donate L$ or tier toward this project. I'd hate to tell them just to screw off, you know? Plus, it would make it more of a group effort. I personally can't contribute to a build, coz I suck at building, but I'd be more than happy to donate L$.

Wow. OK, I read the other thread (ow, my head) and now I know what "stuff" is of interest.

My idea for a name for a meeting place was "The Roamin' Forum" but that's backward and "Non-Roamin' Forum" dilutes the pun. I've got a migraine coming on so I'll just retreat to the dark now where all colors match. :o

Ok, Chris and I have had a discussion via PM and if this is to be an Official Forum Cartel Project we shall proceed thusly: I will create a proposal tonight in world outlining the intent of the project , and the suggested theme, I think it's only fair that we get a consensus as to whether the Biker Theme is acceptable. Since Trout and Oryx have been at the head of this we will add them as group officers and channel all related matters through them, to avoid needless committe nonense. Anyone who isn't a member of the group can join on their own, it is open membership, or Ask Chris or Myself for an invite, (Zap and Colette can also send invites as officers.) TYVM.

I'm going to go ahead an recuse myself of a vote on theme, if only to accomodate the largest number of forum folks. That old Spock "needs of the many" thing.
