I'll donate some art and will build anything anyone wants...

Someone else has to add scripts though. I'm an artist, not a programmer.

(Ok, that's a lie. I'm a programmer, just haven't learned a lot of LSL yet)

I think we definitely need either pillow fights or mudfights, and a mechanical bull somewhere in there.

iFox has a freebie pillowfight set that's hysterical.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I haven't taken advantage of getting 512m tier free so I'd be happy to throw mine in, but it must be on the following stipulations: It must be on a very laggy sim, next to an ugly monstrous build, with ban lines everywhere and ad farms as far as the eye can see. I want to ensure we never run out of things to talk about.

The other thing, if Strife shows up I get first dibs on groping. I have to know whether whether Strife is male or female. The mystery is killing me.

I will donate a copy of my "Bar In Box - Rusty Nail Bar and Grill" It comes with the building, a bar and counter, bar stools, tables and chairs. I have a demo sitting in Stout (221,52,24). I also have an assortment of Gazebos and docks to match.
Coooooollll. Will definitely stop by to check it out for footprint and prim count.

Consensus seems to be that it would be better to combine tier and get land than take lovely Isablan up on her incredibly generous offer to welcome we rowdies. Or roadies. whatever. Personally, I would feel guilty to take one prim away from the Botanical Gardens!!! /me loves that place.

BUT if we combine tier then we would have to BUY the land, true? So we will need some cash too :(

Well, maybe I can toss some in, but it might be good to share the cost. At least now is a good time to buy!

Like I said, who's going to be the treasurer? Or should we just toss L$ at Trout, Bradley, Nika, et al?

oh, and p.s. we wouldn't want to lag out Isablan's gardens, in addition to taking up her prims.

Sounds like it's coming together nicely. I'm still in for my 512 (I need to remember to go premium, though).

None of this means we can't hang out at other places that forum members have made available or anything like that at all. I think we were just thinking that it would be cool to have a place that was based on the stuff that goes on here and dedicated specifically to this group where you cold hang out any time you wanted or have special events if we ever do that.

I think we form a group (we already have one - The Forum Cartel) and then donate land to the group. Donating land to a group doesn't actually donate specific land, it donates the tier to pay for the land. If you have a premium account and no land, your 512 donation would not actually cost you anything, but, of course if you then purchased 512 more for your own use, you would pay tier on 1024, even though you only actually own 512.

We do need a treasurer to acquire the land. Hmmm. How to work that?

Ermmm ... where's a land baron when you need one ...

You don't donate land, you donate tier. You then deed land.

The tier pays the ongoing monthly tier fees, but we still have to initially purchase the land. Donating tier does not mitigate the initial purchase price at all.

If you donated 512 tier to a group, then purchased another 512, you would still pay tier on only 512, I believe.

*whew* correct me if wrong, all you silent baronites!

And, Trout, you seem to have some finance background.

The purchaser of the parcel will Deed the parcel to the Group. If enough people have already donated tier to the group, the purchaser will not need to donate tier in addition to the land. If no one has donated tier to the group at the time of the Deed, the purchaser will need to donate tier to the group.
I'm nominating another person for treasurer. To only have one choice is to have no choice, and the last thing this group needs is a dang dictator.

I'm nominating Colette for Treasurer. She's been running a business in SL for a long time now and sort of seems honest. :p

We need someone more knowledgable in land sales. You are correct in that we would still need to purchase the land and deed it to the group. If you donate your free 512 and then buy 512 for your own use, I think you are responsible for tier on 1024: your personal 512, plus the 512 you donated to the group.

/me ignores the remainder of the post but tries to remember the last time he balanced his RL checkbook

I owned 512 with no tier and was able to purchase 1024 more before it went up to the next level. So your first 512 is completely free tier.So you can own 1536m for the lowest tier a month.($8 or 5 I forget,I am getting old...)

Eh I don't know if your statement had anything to do with that but just thought I would throw that out there.:p

/me is mildly hurt by the suggestion that he is a dictator, but will eventually recover. *sniff.

Isn't it Standard Operating Procedure to nominate someone who isn't here to refuse or defend thamselves? That's how it works in RL. Colette hasn't been around all day. She seems honest to me as well.

I think this is the process:

1. Find a place with two or three or four 512 sm adjacent plots.
2. Each person buys a plot and deed it to the group
3. Build away..

I would think we need a few roles:

Chief Designer: Make sure the bar looks good
Treasurer: Handle the money
Music Director: Someone in charge of music
Contributors: People that help and buy things for the bar

Anything else?

I guess one person could do all of these things (Trout)... but it might take a lot of his time.

well I'm premium and no mainland holdings, so happy to buy a 512 and donate - as long as we have Brenda's panties as house decoration :P

It is a nice idea, but good builds rarely get done by committee; best to leave that to a talented person or duo.

Also - hypothetically speaking - what if a forum denizen didn't like all the others?

I have 4096m free tier to donate should this get off the ground and I get over my broad misanthropy, umm, hypothetical broad misanthropy, that is.

Don't search for 'pie' in-world without unchecking the Mature box. That's all I'm saying.

I love this plan! I think 4 512s might do us nicely, if 468 prims is enough. Tho we could buy more and have the extra as a border to protect us from mainland nonsense.

I also agree with Malachi's comment that the actual build should be done by 1 or 2 folks. Let's see who else steps up in the course of the night?

I think one role needs to be added here, tho, which is an overall manager for the place and the project to create it. Maybe that should be the current person in charge of the Forum Cartel -- is that Chris? Or Derbor, because he's obviously a good planner? Or Trout, because he started this?

hah - OMG, I can't wait to get home tonight and search for pie with mature checked.

I agree that good builds don't get done by committee, but if we have some people willing to donate the build, maybe as a group we could give them a concept to work with and let them run with it. Derbor's method works better than having the treasurer buy one big plot and deed it to the group because if one person buys the one big plot, then that person gets nailed for the tier that month. I guess if I were treasurer, it wouldn't be that big a deal to me, since we aren't talking about buying a whole sim or anything - it's just a couple extra bucks worth of tier for one month, right?

We definitely need roles and people who feel comfortable filling those roles. I don't anticipate those roles doing much once the project is off the ground and running. I suppose if people really wanted me to do it, I could do the accounting work, but the other roles mentioned by Derbor are completely outside of my expertise.
