If LL were based this side of the pond, I suspect we'd be looking at the prospect of a rebate to compensate for the downtime (since this is becoming at least a weekly problem.) It would certainly be worth their while to pull their ****s out of their ***s and actually fix the problem instead of letting it drag on like this if they faced statutory regulation and financial loss.

But in the absence of regulation, I'll have to fall back on the voodoo doll (and give it a couple of extra hefty stabs with the needle!)

Yegods! You're quite right, it's over a quarter of a day I've pissed away so far trying to log on to SL!

If they ever have the temerity to claim some fancy 99.xx% connection uptime, I'm going to have to run amok with a custard pie canon in whatever virtual Linden office I can find!

Hand me a voodoo doll and some sharp needles pls ;-)

Now they don't even bother posting "omg wait 15 minutes more and you're so lovely and patient here". That's a development.

The thing here isn't about gnawing at them because we feel like it.

For me, it's about ALWAYS choosing European prime time for downtime. And then not getting it done on time. And then telling me it's going to be allright in 15 minutes, just wait. And so I wait through the whole 3 hours that I had for this. I'm not the only one. So shove your optimism down someone elses throat and maybe, just maybe think about WHY people are angry not about oh yeah I'm so cool and calm, they're all idiots.

This game is not even a game. It has a huge scale. Involves real money. And a *lot* of real money. Which means these things are way more serious than in random mmorpg's out there where the only thing lost is the time of playing. In here, downtime on their only time of playing means huge losses for quite alot of people. Think about that for a moment.

Cry me a river please.

Be prepared for this sort of thing when dealing with a new system (and it is something most have not done before) and plan accordingly.

So what if the time you set aside or have to use second Life is taken up by an update or a fix? Be glad they've even bothered to do this and move on.

Since their primary systems are based here in the United states it makes sense for them to use their own region's timezone and to do this during normal business hours.

If you want a downtime that better fits your timezone - make your own program and Grid.

Keep whining and accomplish nothing or ..

Get a Job with Linden Lab so you can show them the right way to do it or ...

Go and code up your own version of Second Life and see if anyone will fund it or ...

Shut up and wait like everyone else unable to even whine here in the Forums.

Oh, I think we're doing a perfectly good job of whining here in the forums. You don't like it? Go boil yer head.

It's Pre Announced Scheduled Downtime, people. It happens almost every Wednesday. Yes it's a bummer they are a couple of hours over the announced time. Occasionlly, ok once in a great while, they get back up running early. Yes, maybe they should do a rotating schedule so the same people aren't shut out all the time. Thems the breaks. At least the Drama here is entertaining.

Eh no.

People have the right to complain if they wish to. If you do not personally like it, don't read this thread -- as you would put it, stop wasting your time.

Eh, yes.

You may have the right but guess what? Linden Lab doesn't care.

Nor for that matter do I.

If you do not like being told to wait like everyone else - ignore me.

I've got time to kill while I wait for the Grid to come back up - do you?

Lighter side of our complaints...

I don't know how to post a link, but there's another forum in here that has a lighter look at this...

Being a newbie (6 days but who's counting...and today doesn't really count...) I don't get half of what they are saying, but the half I get is really funny...

C'mon guys, don't complain.
They got the grid DOWN at exactly the time they predicted.
That is half the job done correctly already.

I should imagine they ARE suffering at LL HQ .... BUT....

As said earlier ... I think LL spent a LOT of time selling this thing as a platform ... when you can make RL money etc .. and charging a BLOODY FORTUNE for it.

in MY hob I HAVE to have a 99$ uptime .... its in my contract, yet LL seems to see this has some sort of joke.

And yes you CAN do the development work .... I should imagine the Beta grid is still in existance .. unless they sold it off as private island. You really cant tell me that LL dont have a Dev grid. Again its expectations.....

If im told its going to br 4 hours .... im cool with 4 ..... if its 5 im disapointed..... if its 6 then im fucking pissed ..... if its 7 then i want to hurt people with a big stick

Nope - just someone sitting here and waiting for the Grid to come back up - I have no patience for whiners and if I was on the team doing all these fixes ....

I'd have deleted all of the data, all of the backups, all of the customer information and handed in my resignation along with one final mass E-mail telling everyone to be happy they caused the total destruction of a program they're addicted to.

Tested and fixed .... WHERE exactly?

The Main Grid is the only place to get a reliable test done since the systems there do the most work and will break down the fastest.

You're just complaining to complain.

and apparently you don't know about the BETA grid LL uses to test out the new fixes. if you gonna be a fan boy get your facts together dearie.

There's an obvious lie. If you didn't care what people were posting here, you wouldn't have responded by explicitly telling people to "shut up". How dare you! Do you have any clue how arrogant that is?!?

Erm, you have a fair point if you live in rainbow land, LL suggested they would be done for 3 hours or so European peak time, they've been down for 7+ hours now, I work as a Systems administrator for very important people, we have a strict SLA if we can't deliver we roll back .. I don't think you have any idea of IT service delivery. Simply put LL have lost a lot of European custom and revenue tonight.

Well, Solar, I must say you absolutely are the perfect example of quite a few definitions which I won't say because it would sound like generalizing and people who do not deserve those labels would jump up high and start beating their chests. Nobody likes assholes though, except maybe other idiots. So.. um.. actually that kind of makes the point redundant since you won't notice anyway.

For the rest of you, good night and hopefully you'll get in soon.
