It is now 11:20 pst if my conversion is right which means that we are officially late on the grid opening.

I'd rather have them get it right and open later than rush the job to open on time.
It was only months ago that all wednesday morning from 6 am to noon was closed. _____________________

They've had two recent updates on the blog, pushing the time to 12:00 SLT.
I shoujlda taken bets on if the grid would be up in time, Well, 'cept I can't take bets, of course. ![]() Mari _____________________

The new issue has been resolved, but deploying the fix and subsequent testing will take some additional time. We now expect the grid to open by 12:00

I always get confused.. What are we complaining about today? Is it that they don't take the grid down to fix things or that they keep it down to fix things?

So would I but since they can't seem to get it right getting it on time is the one thing they could conceivably do and they failed even doing that. _____________________

Well they updated the blog at 11 to say it would be 30 minutes late opening, and again at 11:25 to say it would be 12 before it opened. At least they are telling us what's going on.

Why on earth it is always Europe Prime Time when the Grid is maintenanced and offline?
And this "postponing the scheduled online time every 30mins" is so stupid. Why don't they just say "offline for two more hours" and if it's fixed in one and a half hours and back online before the schedule people would cheer... But who am I to critisize, just a stupid symbian developer. |

I always get confused.. What are we complaining about today? Is it that they don't take the grid down to fix things or that they keep it down to fix things? Seems that around here, people dont paticularly need a reason to complain, it's just what goes on here. Personally, I try to be understanding about issues, and downtime being extended is fairly normal, but it's enough of a reason to complain, since, even when downtime does complete on time, people still complain. |

I think today we're complaining that it's not Friday yes but I can still get drunk like it's friday at least until the grid comes back online... and all things considered that means I'll probably be really drunk. _____________________

I would rather them take their time opening the grid and get the problems fixed before signing in to all the packet loss and loosing inventory and the list goes on............

It isn't always ... but with a big update there's so much more happening that it makes sense to have main staff in relatively civil times, so as to have capacity in case things go wrong later.
That's my guess, looking at the haggard faces of our 80 hours netops people where I work who have to work on PST despite being in the UK. Hmmm 8pm BST huh ... my supper will be ready ... and I'll be in front of the TV ... wonder if I'll come back when I am done with it and still not be able to get in? <G> Sounds like some hefty changes are going in and yeah ... at least it's not down the whole night as has happened in the distant past. *edit* well said Ashlynn! _____________________

I think today we're complaining that it's not Friday Ohhhh. Something worth complaining about!! On the up side, I went thru 1/2 of today thinking it was Tuesday so Friday's a bit closer than I thought. /me is curious if anybody still wants to know why LL doesn't visit the forums very often. _____________________

Dealing with the overdue grid (foolproof)
08-22-2007 11:34
1. if grid returns on or before time, have a drink to celebrate.
2. if grid return late but on 1st "Delayed" notice, pour another to enjoy while you get back online. 3. if grid NOT back on for 1st delayed time start to get changed. 4. if grid not back on for 2nd delayed time go to pub. SL economy may be dodgy, world markets may be in turmoil, but my local is doing REALLY well! ![]() |

I was just stating a fact, I think everyone is so used to people using the forums to complain that they have a Pavlovian response to any new threads. Yep And far easier to start moaning and taking a swipe at the OP than to post up something positive. That was not aimed at this thread just my own recent experiences ![]() _____________________

Mind if I start another thread quoting this and soliciting ideas on an official SL drinking game? Suggest one measure for every time someone says in public, or private, "wana sex?". It must be that exact spelling tho ... it's the new ASL ![]() _____________________
