I tried it with my partner last night. (Advised him what it was ahead of time, of course.) What "I" saw in whispered chat was, "You have offered to kill "name." What my partner saw was "Czari has offered to bite you" (or words to that effect...not in world atm.) Once he accepted, out came the silver stake, one swift blow and his avatar crumpled to the floor (we were on a second story at the time and he fell right THRU the floor!) I want it! /considers his next trip to HIP ... mwahaha _____________________

The people who play "Bloodlines" are merely noobs who have no respect for others, there are many many vampyres out there who roleplay and wouldn't touch the damn bloodlines system with someone else's avi.

Does anyone know of a way to stop people from sending invites without asking. My problem has been the vampires bite invite. In 40 mins one day i had 25 requests. The issue i have is 1 i have it in my profile I'm not interested 2 i wear a titler saying I'm not interested. I have been told the HUD picks me since I am " fresh blood" some have said I should be bit so they wont target me but why should I. If there is something out there to block the invites please let me know and if your a vamp reading this please an IM asking first would not be out of the question I myself am getting sick of this! I was at TUi sandbox a week or so ago and this girl there kept sending me requests to let her bite me. Then of course I was called every horrible name in the book when I told her to leave me alone... Look here you wanna be vampires. READ YOUR BLOODLINES RULE BOOKS OR GO TO A BLOOD BANK. |

This is just someone who's a badly behaved little horror. If you want to bite....ask politely in IMs. Respect your fellow avatars...same rules as real life...show no respect...invite trouble or worse. I've got my Abuse Report and I'm not afraid to use it. |

My wife had a good friend a while back, but had lost touch for maybe a month. Yesterday she got an IM from him enviting her to dance at a popular club so she went.
She said he had changed - eyes were red and acting weird. She got a request from him to animate her avatar. She asked him what that is and he lied to her, saying it's just a new dance. She accepted and was immediately attacked, blood spurting out of her neck and everything. She was quite upset and is paranoid that she has some kind of SL borne virus and her avatar might change. She's spent quite a lot of USD and countless hours making her av look best as possible and doesn't want to look wierd. I told her that maybe she was tricked into joining some kind of group, but she didn't see any groups added in her list. But she just isn't sure about it. --------------To the vampires out there:----------------- If U want to have fun in your roleplaying and want your friends to join U then be honest with them. Don't be a creep and trick your friends into accepting an attack, unless U want to risk loosing their trust and friendship. She isn't reporting him to LL for an unprovoked attack, but I am. _____________________

The first rule my husband told me about when it came to roleplay was to never include outsiders in your roleplay. It's a common sense rule, because in RL, you could have the cops called on you for trying to bite a person RL side. Not to mention you'd seem utterly daft trying to pretend you're a werewolf to a non-RPer and probably be maced for your stupidity. This reminds me of the story from a while back that someone posted. The police roilled up on a panel van in a deserted area and heard a woman screaming bloody murder - two guys were, I think, trying to rape her after kidnapping her. I might have the details wrong, but that's pretty close. The cops did what cops do, which was call in back up as they were diving on the guys with the tasers and pepper spray. Appropriate response? Certainly what I would have done as a cop, and what I would want them to do if I were screaming for help while being brutally assaulted. Nope. The woman was furious. She had a whole "kidnapped and raped" fantasy that she was playing out with her partners and the cops ruined it. Can you imagine the look on those cops faces? I might have been tempted to play out my "beat up an idiot with a nightstick" fantasy. I wish I remember how it all panned out. I don't think anything came of it, but if I had been one of those cops, I would have been really upset. _____________________

Geeze. That's the same sort of Stupid that infects people who wave around realistic looking plastic guns when the cops are near.

At the same time, however, that is exactly what a vampire WOULD do, instead of spamming people with bite requests or randomly bothering people with "can I bite you?" I hope you explained to her that the "SL borne virus" is a just a little over the top. Not only does such a thing not exist, but there are quite a few objects out there that specifically warp your avatar into a knot (beware the lucky chair!) and simply relogging fixes everything. _____________________

Well I'm glad that you agree that an unprovoked, vicious attack against another avatar isn't cool. But at the same time defend it, because ppl wouldn't want to be bothered by a request to be greefed? If someone starts a Jack the Ripper RP would it be acceptable if they span the grid, find -your- innocent love one and proceed an attack just because it fits their role? Certainly not, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone and shouldn't be tolerated in any form. _____________________

First day in Second life i was asked first if i RP replied yes.
Then was asked if i wanted to join a group told the person no thank you. She asked very nice if she could bite me i said why not it does not seem to be a major thing. Since then i have never been bothered and i do not wear the bite marks. |

That's just wrong on so many counts...ESPECIALLY from someone who was a "good friend" in the past and then to basically contact your wife to specifically use her for his rp. It's easy to sit here and say what I would have done in retrospect, but it probably would have included a good, public tongue-lashing at the very least. I applaud you for submitting an AR on this idiot. ~ ~ ~ Cheree, you've designed this Vampire Killer HUD just in time! (/me adds that to her newspaper whapper, "Just Say Bam" club, pillow fight pillow, throwing knives, and various guns. A girl can never be too careful. ![]() _____________________

It is possible to make yourself immune to being shown to a Bloodlines vampire as a victim, or at the very least, make an appropriate countermeasure trigger automatically in response to a vampire scanning for the victim. Basically, the Bloodlines HUD scans for victims with a sensor scan (20m range) and a query on a chat channel. Anyone who was sensed and didn't respond to the query (which is responded to by every Bloodlines HUD) is a potential victim. If the query is encrypted (which is unlikely) it is only possible to take a countermeasure. If it isn't, a HUD response can be faked, and you will end up with a standalone script you drop into a HUD you never take off anyway (like an AO) and forget about being solicited for bites, forever.
Tracking the channel down is the problem though. |

Yes, thank U Cheree for the Vamp killer.
I was all set to take revenge on my wife's attacker, but she asked me not to. Well she's usually right with these kinds of things, but good to know I have a tool for this. If I'm asked for a bite, I'll ask what it's for. If they're honest I'll just decline the offer. If they lie and are decietful - like my wife's "Friend", I have a special notcard prepared for them. (I'll say no more) But it's nice to know that if they really push it, I have an appropriate response. Thanks again! PS Rica that is a wonderful idea, if I only knew anything about scripting! _____________________

Now there's an idea...those of us who don't want to be annoyed by this bloodlines thing while going about our own business can start wearing a "Cloves of Garlic" necklace. This would indicate to the would-be biters that the necklace wearers REALLY don't want to play. /me ponders a new item to add to my store ![]() Exactly what I was suggesting here: /327/93/280600/1.html#post2137564 and here: /327/4b/280702/1.html#post2138427 Let me know when you do please _____________________

Tracking the channel down is the problem though. It will require buying a HUD to experiment with. On the other hand, do these HUDs not give out prim "bite marks" for a victim to wear? Perhaps the bite marks prim responds to the query as well. Just something to think about. _____________________

They might, (the manual says they squirt blood when someone bites the victim wearing them again, so there is some communication going on) but still needs to be a query to respond to, otherwise they will be inert, so still needs a HUD. |

oh it was fun getting back and he left but wish he was stuck on the ground longer like 2 mins really thinki have screwed with his AV.
On the other side of this one of the sims i hang at is banning those who send the bite now if more do this maybe the HUD maker will do something to stop it working so freely |
