Getting fed up with Vampires

Well I'll be banning anyone who I catch asking on my land. A sign didn't work, and a NO BLOODLINES message when they land doesn't work. I'm fed up. A game I don't play and have no interest in should not be an everyday part of my life and it's forced its way in as such. We should probably start AR'ing it every time were asked as spam. People are free to do what they would like in SL, but when it becomes a problem on my land with my customers than it's time to fight back.

I got a message this morning asking if I was sure it was Bloodline players and messages from Bloodline liaisons. I didn't respond because what are they going to do? Argue Bloodlines with me? I've had some tell me to turn scripts off on my land. If I do that people can not use translators.

Sarah, are you giving away my Silver Dagger vampire killer? It is a freebie that I would love for you to give away in your store. It's just a silly little animation, but it gets the point across.

I put on my profile "** Bloodlines requests only accepted upon receipt of L$50000 per bite. **" and it works better than garlic!

I will be. I was in a welcome centre the other day when I got the usual popup, no prior dialog nothing. I immediately responded with Cheree's dagger request to offer love.

The silly moo accepted and she said "love it, how much and where from?"

I replied, "oh it's a freebie available for anyone that's totally sick of bloodlines spam from non-roleplaying, HUD clicking losers".

She didn't stay to chat, she just poofed, I think she got the point in more senses than one.

Hell I give this thing away to newbies I meet at Help Island, people at all the jazz clubs, Infohubs, people in my club, and generally everyone I meet.

I start off with, "Hey, did that person just try to bite you? Here, you should have this."

It's been a great way to make friends lately.

I only respond to vampires attempting to bite me one of three ways:

1) Incineration (Firey Breath)
2) Bite them harder (consumption after thorough chewing; I digest everything and Dragons are immune to vampirism)

and, since I am Celestial:

3) Turn into a small representation of a star, giving them the "exposure" they so desperately crave. I call it "The Icarus Solution".

:D

Fortunately, none have tried to bite me yet. Maybe they respect what they see, and avoid the obvious results. :p

What's sad is that if the Bloodlines players would be more charismatic and actually talk to people, they would also be making friends (and probably getting more positive results.)

Instead, they make enemies wherever they go.

i thought vampires had to

1) be invited in...
2) seduce the snack

or are there other rules on SL?

there was a girl in my store the other day .. she just TP in and then her teeth started spamming eveyone with bite invites...
no conversations .. just those i wanna animate and exsanguinate little blue pop ups..

what is the world coming to?

While it'd be better for Bloodlines to encourage RP solutions to 'bite-spam', I can see ways to build fixes into the system itself. When a vamp sends a 'permission to animate' request, the recipient could get another dialogue giving them the chance to report the vamp if they weren't happy.

Anyone picking up too many negative reports could be penalised within the game for acting in a manner likely to draw the attention of vampire hunters. Not a subtle solution but then turning vampire RP into a pyramid scheme/collecting game isn't a subtle move either.

It'd be better if the Bloodlines group got the idea of requiring that only those with the victim HUD could be bitten and that they could be bitten once per day. But that would require more effort on the part of the creators than I could see them doing.

I suggested to the programmer that he keep track of denials and once there were 3 denials from a person, they would be put on a list that would prevent them from appearing on the HUD altogether. He balked at the suggestion saying that it would require a redesign of the system. So I don't know it they really want to do anything.

I also love the idea of penalizing players for receiving denials. That would encourage people to talk to their potential victims, which I don't mind at all. I will talk to anyone who is nice.

When I was in bloodlines, I made more friends NOT biting.

Then you were not a promiscuous biter like so many of their other players. And you probably didn't get any VTDs (Vampire Transmitted Diseases.)

One shouldn't have to participate in your crap to avoid being a part of your crap, though. I don't care if it's bloodlines or anything else.

Is this an ongoing problem or a so far onetime deal?

Ongoing, widespread problem, especially in high traffic areas like Infohubs and Telehubs.

Don't just walk up to somebody and say "Can I bite you?" I mean, would that work in real life?

It might. You don't know for sure. This is going to require extensive RL testing. I'll head out Friday night and find out for sure. Report back Monday...or whenever I get released from the hospital or jail.

Too lazy to look back and forget where I was up to reading this thread...but saw this link on the SLX forum board and (forgive me if its already been posted and discussed) thought it might give some help...or a giggle.

Wow! A Redneck vampire! I thought they were extinct! I simply *must* call the Wildlife Preservation Society and see if they can capture it for study.
