The problem with those things - the garlic and the "killer hud" - is that, even if it's in a joking way, you're still being pulled into the vampire roleplay. Garlic, hammers and stakes, etc - these are of the vampire "mythos". So you're basically RP'ing to not get bitten. I don't think that's right.

I was actually more kidding with this in just kind of rolling with the thread, so, no I wouldn't walk around wearing garlic - it just struck me funny at the time.

From: Dakota Tebaldi
Or how about a Gor fellow trying to "capture" you for a slave. I don't know the term for "free women" in Gor is, but whatever it is, would you call yourself that to get him to back off? Or would you just tell him to shove it, cuz you're not playing his game?

The term for a free woman in Gor is Free Woman :p

I've actually never encountered any situation in SL where someone was rping whatever and tried to pull me into it (if I wasn't in the rp situation myself), so don't have much experience in this. I think my tactic would be the same as the very few times I've been hit on while going about my business shopping - mute.

I agree with many of the comments here.

I believe that I, in my vampire rp, am an exception to the "norm" Bloodlines player.
I am always in character in my vampire avatar and always use, what I think, is pleasantry and good feeding manners. My bites always follow up with a RP note card and some candy.

hmmm this gets me to thinking. Maybe Bloodlines could come up with a new HUD for vapire slayers?

I think I would like to get hunted.

Oh NO! Not you too?

I agree with Dakota.

The first rule my husband told me about when it came to roleplay was to never include outsiders in your roleplay. It's a common sense rule, because in RL, you could have the cops called on you for trying to bite a person RL side. Not to mention you'd seem utterly daft trying to pretend you're a werewolf to a non-RPer and probably be maced for your stupidity.

Unfortunately, there is no such punishments in SL. Well, beyond being ejected and banned from a sim/parcel. That doesn't effect the RPer much, beyond that. No life-long criminal record, no burning painful sensation that lingers for a good while.. nothing.

So, when someone creates a system like this, one that practically begs it's players drag in non-RPers, it makes the rest of us who RP look bad.

What I really want is a hud that will allow me to 'invite' the creator of the system for bites, whenever I get an invite from one of their players. But that could be labeled as harassment.. darn it.

Actually the average facelight should be enough to turn one of those suckers into dust.

Lol. Um. I'm a vampire.
I have the boodlines fangs and all, but never use it. I just like the look of it.
My neighbors hate vampires and the people behind me are vampires that bring in all these newbies to bite on.

But I dont know how you would block it.

Chuck Norris could block it with a roundhouse kick to the face.

MystiTools has a sleep mode prim that allows you to have other Mystitools go into sleep mode. If the creator was considerate, they might create a prim that allows land owners to turn off the bite part of the attachment.

Something, anything, would be better than me going out shopping for skins and wind up with a bite invite.

Come, come now. Chuck would let them bite him on the neck and break their fangs, one at a time.

Then the roundhouse kick to the face...

Probably, but I missed it :) Soooo, you're saying I shouldn't shop for skins so the vampires won't find me?

My commitment:

If someone makes that thing and it sells for less than 1000$L, I'll buy.

I'll go up to 1500 for the abililty edit where the kick goes.

Put me down for one too.
It should be a relatively simple modification of the more versatile hug attachments. Just different text and animations.

Going up to somebody and biting them is rude and newbish, and it's not good form to try and force your roleplay on others - most people know this; but I don't think the best way to brush such people off is by joining the roleplay. Imagine a BDSM-type "dom" coming up to you and ordering you around. Would you tell him to just go screw off, or would you explain to him that you're a "dom" too just to get him off your back? Or how about a Gor fellow trying to "capture" you for a slave. I don't know the term for "free women" in Gor is, but whatever it is, would you call yourself that to get him to back off? Or would you just tell him to shove it, cuz you're not playing his game?

A HUD or something that automatically denies Bloodlines bite requests, or a way to simply opt out of the system is just fine (although I'd much rather the system was "opt in" in the first place). But I don't want to have to wear a garlic necklace just to keep newb vampires from hassling me. Half of them wouldn't understand what it was anyway.

If you recall, I accidentally sent you a bite request. But, I quickly followed it up with an IM stating that I had made a mistake.

Not all of us Bloodlines Vampires are Frocktard (I agree most are), some of us do role play.

I understand your point, Cody, and on days when I'm feeling grumpy or rushed, I guess I agree with it.

But vampires are such FUN to poke with a humor stick, especially the ones who are all capital E EEEEvil and full of themselves. If that means sticking a toe into their roleplay puddle, then I have to confess to sticky toes.

That's right, I remember. And that was perfectly all right. The apology made all the difference, and I don't think anything bad about you at all.

Well, although roleplay has nothing to do with it, I confess that I, too, have sort of an evil little pleasure that involves heckling a certain forum member when he makes too much noise...

...but sadly, the heckling bothers other people too, so out of respect for them, I usually can't do it very often.

But it is fun. So I'm just saying, I see where you're coming from. Luckily, your fun doesn't bother other people.

Hmm.. *snickers evilly* Okay, if I am going to be dragged into RP, then I will play by my rules.

I shall offer a notecard with this:

"Hello, Intended Biter.

Thank you for including me in your RP with little regard as to whether or not I want to RP. Since you have decided to do so, this means I get to pick the system. In the system I pick, I am a powerful pyrokinetic. This also means that if you drink my blood, you will wind up with my powers, only without my control of them.

Please be advised that as a vampire, you will likely find this power inconvenient for future roleplay, as most pyrokinetics tend to go up in a blaze of glory upon awakening their powers.

Included in this note card is an object called Urn of Vampire Ashes. Please feel free to drop this item as you burn as a reminder to other vampires of what happens when you don't chose your victims carefully.

I'm glad we had this experience and wish you well in your next undeath."

Of course, I will decline the bite.. and point out that I was being NICE this time. Next time, it will be vampire to ashes.

Edit: And I just finally realized that Dekka has made a quote of that other post as a sig! Woot! Does that make me FIC? Or really, really slow?

OK, just for fun, I went ahead and made a Silver Dagger Vampire Killer. I need some beta testers. IM me in-world if you are willing to try it out and tell me what you think. But keep in mind that it's for fun, and I only spent about a couple of hours making it.

I will give it away free in my shop after it is tested a little.

Cheree

Received my beta testing Silver Dagger Vampire killer!

Cheree, for "only spending a couple of hours making it" this thing is brilliant!!!

I tried it with my partner last night. (Advised him what it was ahead of time, of course.) What "I" saw in whispered chat was, "You have offered to kill "name." What my partner saw was "Czari has offered to bite you" (or words to that effect...not in world atm.) Once he accepted, out came the silver stake, one swift blow and his avatar crumpled to the floor (we were on a second story at the time and he fell right THRU the floor!)

I love this thing!!!

~ ~ ~

Now what was even funnier....my partner had not heard of Bloodlines so I was telling him about this thread in conjunction with testing out Cheree's product. Later last night we decided to check out the NCI Newbie Designer "Show and Tell." As we walked into the NCI area, there is a big sign saying that no Bloodlines (or offers for vampire bites or something like that) was allowed. First time I've seen that and probably wouldn't have had a clue what it was if I hadn't read this thread.

So we settle in to watch the demonstrations. Being a prolific profile reader, I'm scanning the profile of the first designer and in his picks (he only had one) it read something like: A member of the "XYZ" clan of Bloodlines.

I sooooo wanted to use my new lil toy.
